@multiplythatbyinfinity - THE THINGS that HIDE in the DARK
❝ hey, filth, stop running. i am not going to hurt you. ❞
daehyun’s voice is smooth and sweet like honey, SILK that clashes with the cruel smile settled in thin lips. hazel eyes scan the forest, looking for traces of the demon he’s hunting. there are no sounds of crickets and other nocturnal beings. they have run into the night after catching on the presence of energy too impure and dangerous coming from two different sources.
bushes stir ahead and he narrows his eyes. smugness tinges the vicious grin on his features. it takes five seconds before he’s standing next to the demon. the meatsuit carries an expression of FEAR, curled as he is. brown eyes turn black as he gets up from where he is hiding. daehyun doesn’t blink as the demon summons a pointy stick and tries to stab him from the back. instead, he snorts, stepping to the side and grabbing the twig with his left hand.
❝ you thought we are still in HELL? ❞ daehyun throws the small branch away, then he steps forward. the demon steps back. ❝ you thought your power was still bigger than mine? ❞
daehyun snaps his fingers and the demon’s left arm explodes. he screams, grabbing onto his shoulder. blood mixes with ichor and the smell is fetid. daehyun scrunches up his nose in DISTASTE. ❝ you said you knew where to find the shadow hunters i’m looking for. i trusted you and guess what i found? ❞ he sighs, feigning disappointment as he shakes his head. ❝ you should have known better than this by now. ❞
❝ SHE said you are not to kill mortals as you please– ❞
daehyun’s eyes flash with GOLD. the next second, the demon’s meatsuit is torn into pieces. chunks of organs, skin, and bones fly around as blood smears the trees and soil. a dark smoke coils into itself from the center of the explosion and rises, but it doesn’t go far before daehyun closes his hand in the air, getting a hold of it. the mass of darkness burns in the sky until its ashes are swept away by the night breeze.
❝ EW. ❞ he pulls a face at the drops of blood that landed on his white shirt. ❝ this biokinesis shit has to get better than this. ❞
he turns around, ready to continue with his PURSUIT when he senses a presence approaching. eyes squint into the dark, but nothing is quite visible to him yet. still, he can feel something else around, something with a nature different from what he has encountered until now. daehyun tilts his head, trying to identify its energy composition, but nothing resounds.
CRIMSON STAINED THE WHITE OF HIS FUR. A fresh kill still gifting the wolf with substantial adrenaline to keep his senses at their peak, so much so, he couldn’t very well ignore the blaze of magic so eloquently being splayed throughout his territory. Something far more vicious than the natural pursuit of his meal was transpiring, a darkness he’d known well enough to identify it miles away. Except this wasn’t nearly as far, this was much closer than comfort allowed. A harsh pair of blue eyes began to roam away from their prey, a half eaten carcass he’d definitely be returning to finish but -- this was far more important, a threat that needed to be subdued by force if need be. No animal would dare attempt to steal it anyway, the wolf had made its claim on this area long ago; to plot against the ferocious being of the forest was a death sentence Kit had no qualms stating however many times needed to make it crystal clear. The rotting bones of such challenges left throughout each corner spoke of his stature much better than the words of a curly, black-haired man could.
PAWS AS LARGE AS ANY FACE BEGAN TO ROAM, steam for breaths colluding with the chill of evening air and a stealth perfected many moons ago, now found the shrubbery to minimize his presence as the sounds and scents of death continued to thrive. His eyes captured the night with a clearness instilled in the wolf’s vision, the movement ahead bringing him just a tad bit closer as he leaps from behind one trunk to another, ears sharp as ever taking in snippets of a conversation -- or one sided more like -- with quite the lacking importance towards whatever this individual chased after. Nevertheless, however the wolf may not have known the nature of this escapade in his woods, any bits of information to prepare him in facing this faceless threat would do. What he’d captured so far, was this person very well harbored much distaste towards their own prey, for it seemed this couldn’t be anything friendly.
AN EMPTINESS COLLUDED WITH THIS ENERGY, something void and not of this world and as unfortunate as it may be, Kit knew such feelings too well. It wasn’t too long that the other had begun to sense the alpha, nothing too surprising considering how vibrant this other-worldly essence roamed the trees and commandeered its surroundings, much like the beast kept hidden in a darkness that’d become his home and place of shelter. From the depth of the forest he began to step forth, a towering wolf nearly as tall as the male that now stood alone in his undoing of whatever they’d been after. He would show himself for what harm could it do? Well, on his end, plenty. But curiosity corrupted that faraway gaze that could only capture Kit’s massive profile in the shadows; if it’s a fight this would come to, the alpha would be prepared to add that corpse to the rest of the claims littering this area endowed with his name.
