Stacey will keep her A but she'll be the one to temporarily replace the captain. I'm also certain that Tabin will officially get her A for the entire season this year, since she wore it a few times during the 2025-2026 season. The third A remains a mystery to me. I really don't know who could wear it. I won't lie, I like the idea of Lungbloom, but I'm not sure if she's quite there yet. Labelle would also be a good choice, but her one-year contract bothers me in this situation bc this year, one-year contracts aren't guaranteed, so I don't know if the team will go in that direction for the third A not knowing how that will play out.

It doesn't matter who get's the third A cause Laura is the highest ranked A and Tabin will likely get the other one. When Pou comes back she has her C again and the third A not needed anymore.
I donât think this is the conversation we are in anon. And it matters because Poulin will likely not play the next season or will be back for the playoffs so the choice of the 3 As will be crucial. I assume Stacey will be the first A, we still need to have the other 2 and even two more who wonât be wearing the A but can fill in if one of the As are not there.
I will add, it is not because Tabin was one of the As last season that she will have one this season, although logically she should.
I can't see either how Mattivi can help as A. Honestly I want Lavelle or Dunois as A.
Oh Labelle could be a great A. Anon you are onto something. Dubois Iâm not sure, I think she still has the imposter syndrome more than the rest so perhaps she wonât be doing a good job. But Labelle is indeed a great candidate for the A.

Not to take anything away from Tabin, and especially Darkangelo and Boulier, but their 'A's weren't permanent/official. It was just a temporary thing because of league rules that probably don't allow a team to run with only one alternate captain, especially when the captain and your second A are missing from the team at the same time. I find that a bit ridiculous considering Laura was still there and was the highest-ranking A. The refs already went directly to her anyway. So I didnât really understand the urgency of having other temporary A's on the team. That said, those extra A's were likely handed out to keep some leadership going in the room, for the players themselves, rather than just for on-ice duties.
I understand Anon but the rulebook states the obligation to have 3 As hence why. But Stacey spoke highly about Darkangelo leadership so I think she was a great A even if temporary.
But i donât know about Tabin, she doesnât seem like a leader, perhaps because she seems less vocal so I wonât juge her.
Mattivi doesn't deserve the A. They should give the A to a player who i longer at Montreal.
And I can see that they give Stacey the C as long as Pou is out and Tabin and Flaherty the A.
Darkangelo got the A (she was one of the 3 A, when Ambrose and Poulin were out and she was an additional A even when she did not have A on her jersey) although she was not there for long. Leadership is not about how long, itâs about how you can help.
If Iâm not mistaken, Per the 2025-2026 PWHL rulebook, there is no obligation to name another C if Poulin is officially under contract with the team even if she is not dressed.
There is nothing forcing the captain to be 1) on the roster right from the start and 2) dressed for the game.
Poulin will be on LTIR so technically, they will need 3 A per game. One "A" will act as captain even if she is wearing the A and the other two will just be alternates to the first A.
I do think Mtl would not want to name someone else as the C and it is ok like that.
We lost 3 As: Boulier, Ambrose and Darkangelo, but we still have Stacey, Tabin (although maybe she wonât keep it, IDK), and few others who can be great leaders.
Here are some leaders to fill the A
- Mattivi who wore the C at BU and is a leader (also a C with team Italy I canât remember);
- Jessie Eldridge who is apparently a great leader.
So here is my answer for you Anon. I canât wait to read the more recent version of the rulebook to stand corrected or confirm things.

AF2 is also Lauras main one. AF2 is in charge of her and Pous contracts. AT CKM she is responsible for Player Support & Talent Identification
I read indeed that AF2 is in charge of both their contracts but that CKM is her agency too. And she was with CKM before AF2. But I trust you anon.
Some useless facts but who cares:
Stacey has two agents AF2 which is also the agency of MPP and her main one (I believe it is her main one) CKM.
At CKM, she is also in charge of player support and talent identification. So I assume when she finishes Hockey, she will keep doing that or anything at CKM (they have sports analytics and I see her doing that).
I Was really surprised to read that, I thought she was only represented but our economics major graduated from Dartmouth is so business oriented, thatâs so crazy.
I hope Wag Pou can attend the WC in Denmark. Maybe as lucky charm for Canada.

"sheâll probably play a much bigger role in " No shade to this anon, I know she/he didn't mean any harm by it, but honestly, I don't know how Laura could have a bigger role on the national team considering she was literally already the most used player during the Olympics and for good reason. She was by far the best and the one who showed up most consistently, game after game.
Personally, at this point, I think it's going to be up to other players on the national team to step up their game to the level they're capable of (Fillier and Watts among others, who we know can give more, and players like Nurse, Clark, etc.)

I feel sorry for Stacey. She has to be a shoulder to lean and cry on for Pou, while simultaneously serving as a leader for Montreal. I don't expect much leadership support from Tabin, who will most likely take over Ambrose's spot as an 'A' and the role of the temporary third alternate, since Tabin isn't a leader type.
And last but not least, sheâll probably play a much bigger role in the NT, too. Itâs going to be a tough few months for her, especially after Pous surgery in July. From experience, I can say that a lot of tears usually flow during the first six to eight weeks after that. You just can't do anything, you're stuck on the couch, unable to do a thing. ACL injuries really suck.
