Life's like an hourglass, glued to the table | Stevie
Letting out a long breath, she heard a faint meow from the living room and she gasped. "PERRY!" She yelled, turning around quickly and heading to the living room to frantically search for Perry. "PERRY!" She repeated as if the cat could respond to her and it took her a second to spot her hiding under the couch. "No, no, Perry, come here." Stevie murmured, noticing how scared Perry looked and bent down to pick her up, holding her close to her chest. At this rate, she knew that the house was sure to collapse and that she needed to get out. She didn't allow herself to think too much about it because she knew that if she did, she would start freaking out. Running towards the front door, she screamed loudly when the mirror hanging on the wall fell to the ground, shattering instantly. As she tried to step over it in her heels, she slipped on one of the pieces and fell down, a piece of the mirror penetrating her hand. Her eyes filled with tears instantly and she lifted her hand up quickly, pulling the piece out and gasping at the pain. Another meow from Perry came as almost a warning sign to get out of the house as quickly as possible and she forced herself to get off the ground, doing her best to ignore the pain.
Picking Perry up, Stevie didn't even notice the piece of the mirror that had stabbed her calf and only fell out when she ran outside the house, blinded to the pain at this point, and kicked her heels off on the porch.Β Looking up and down the block as she stood barefoot on the sidewalk, she gasped at the chaos that surrounded her. The houses were shattered. Everyone was screaming. The cars were demolished. Holding Perry close to her, she began to run towards the hospital, tuning everything out as her tears began to blind her vision. "Come on, Stevie, get yourself together." She told herself, wiping her tears away with her blood-covered hand as she continued to run, Perry's meowing constant now.Β
Lacey's dead!Β She heard someone yell across the street and she turned around quickly, noticing that the person was referring to a car crash that had run over a girl on a bike. The girl, she assumed, was Lacey. "Oh my god," She murmured, her hand reaching to cover her mouth as she saw the blood all over the street and the body beneath the car. "Oh my god," She repeated to herself, her thoughts immediately went to her friends. That could've very well been one of her friends under that car. Hell, one of her friends could be dead right now for all she knew. The thought alone overwhelmed her and she turned to look away quickly but it was too late. The image of one of her best friends lodged beneath a car was already stuck inside her head and the fragility of life hit her hard, having never experienced something like this. So, she started running to the hospital again, as if the faster she ran, the faster everything would be right in the world again.
