I hope he does, I could really use the help as I've come to realize that Amycus might not be as patient as he reckons he is.

It's just not the first thing you expect to see when you open your desk drawer in the morning but it was still a lovely thought.

I just want to make sure you’re all having a lovely time. If my friends weren’t happy then I wouldn’t be. I’ll keep an eye on him, maybe he’ll take pity considering it’s my birthday. If not I’ll just have to do it myself.

I'm sure you'd be exceptional but you're a guest and I couldn't ask you to do something you're uncomftable with. Are you sure? Would he want to do it? I'm under the impression that he still hates me. Of course if he is fine with it I'd be more than happy to take his help.

Of course, we have a mixture this evening. We have a chocolate mousse, raspberry truffles and fruit salad, though I’d avoid the last as it’s probably what I’ll be setting Amycus to work on. I promise you, this man will be the death of me.

You shouldn’t have hinted, then, love.  It wasn’t that much, considering that you’re going to be paying vet and food bills, and if you don’t accept her, she’ll be without a home.  So do.

Have you decided what’s for dessert? I know Remus will be asking when he gets here so I may as well know so I can tell him. A drinking limit, for Amycus? You realise we won’t follow it, even if he has to start turning his water into whiskey which I know he can do. Oh-what did he want, can he not ask me himself?

That would nice, thank you Dorcas…I’m sure Alecto wouldn’t mind indulging me on that day. It took a while to coax him to cook mine a little more just so I can eat with him, it’s only because I like French cuisine that I can stomach it as rare as he has it. I’ll keep my eye on Amycus tonight if you’d like, he’s known to get a little out of hand at dinner parties in an attempt to ‘spice’ them up.

I don't know how I've ever sat at Hogwarts with the boys, most have strange eating habits. I'll be sure to cook it perfect for both of you, I wouldn't want anybody to not have a lovely time. After all it's just meant to be a simple gathering. Please, I've already decided that he needs a drinking limit. You know Narcissa, you shall be attending my funeral by the time I'm thirty because there is no way I shall be making it past that age if I am to married to Amycus. He'll have my long driven up the wall by then.

Well, I had to go buy some food for Evie, and you dropped the hint.  I figured why not.  At least this one doesn’t bite.

I’ve had enough birthdays with special little something’s, I feel this year I’d do better to just stay at home and be quiet. It’s a Thursday anyway, so I’ll have the cottage to myself-besides the point we’re not here to focus on me, it’s your day. Remus is, I’m sure - whenever we’ve had steak at home he has it blue-rare so it doesn’t require much cooking on your part. I like mine medium rare please and thank you. Do try to not get too stressed today.

Well if you don't want anything fancy we could just go for lunch, just Alecto, you and I, during our break. Oh don't boost my ego, it's only just managed to fit back into my head after all the deflating I need to do to it. Yes, how he eats it I will never know. That's one medium-rare for Narcissa Black. Well if Amycus is still alive by the time you arrive I would suggest that I am not too stressed at all.

Oh don't be silly, everybody needs a nice little something on their birthday. Well I'm at work but things could be a lot worse, I think Amycus might even cooperate when I try to teach him to cook tonight. After all, it is my birthday. Have you found out if Remus is definitely coming? I only ask because I'm trying to get everybody's steak just right and I'm sure you'll figure out in some time that he has a tendency to be picky. Reminding me, what way do you take yours?
