Wondrous Tails of Final Fantasy XIV:

In Final Fantasy XIV, there is an activity called ‘Wondrous Tails’ given to you by a young Miqo’te named Khloe Aliapoh in Idyllshire. The purpose of the weekly activity is to document your adventures and stories so that she can recount them to others. This is done in a fashion similar to bingo, completing various duties to get stickers and complete lines in which you can trade for various goodies.

In much the same way, I am interested in hosting an event of similar nature to encourage fans far and wide to tell their own stories–stories of their OCs and self-inserts in the context of shipping them with canon characters or other OCs!

Like the journal given to you for the in-game Wondrous Tails, the event would primarily revolve around filling out prompts within a bingo-like sheet to complete as many lines possible. For every completed line, participants will gain an entry into a raffle to take place at the end of the event. There would be a total of five people picked to win, and prizes will include things of my own donation (a small ficlet and mog station items) as well as any further donated prizes from other generous creators.

The tentative start date for this event will be Saturday, March 7th at 12:00 a.m. CST, and will last for one full month to allow everyone the most time to fill up their bingo sheets (Tuesday, April 7th at 12:00 a.m. CST).

Until the start of the event, I am looking for three things: feedback if people would be interested in doing this at all, prize donations from those who are willing to offer them, and any extra prompts that you guys would like to see included as possibilities for the bingo cards. Please let me know if anyone has questions, comments, or pointers–this would be the first fandom event I’ve ever held, and I want this to be something fun and encouraging for more OC/selfinsert and canon shipping content in the fandom!

Event Rules and Information:

fake dating

omniscient narrator who immediately contradicts the characters (“This is fine,” she said. It was, in no way, shape, or form, fine.)

deadpan jokes while swordfighting

the “I FUCKING LOVE MY WIFE” guy

oblivious pining that slowly escalates until A is going on page rants about how pretty B’s eyes are but still doesn’t seem to recognize they’re in love

Strong Leader Type having to physically fall down in order for the other characters to see how exhausted they are

funny villains who talk and make jokes with their heroes while they’re fighting them

the villains presented as the protagonists

*increasingly pulls out bigger and bigger weapons from more unlikely places*

“I said all of your weapons” *pulls out more*

“ALL OF THEM” *pulls out one last tiny dagger*

traumatized character using humor to cover up ptsd

characters going out for a break at a restaurant/movie/whatever and something bad happening

using the “*gasp* what’s that over there???” trick to avert the enemy’s attention and it working

a villain’s weakness being something totally random and nonsensical

a hero duo arguing over who’s the sidekick while fighting a villain

“don’t be silly, we don’t need [important thing]”  “you lost it, didn’t you?”  “yeah”

“what’s the one thing I told you not to do tonight?”  “raise the dead”   “and what did you do?”  “raised the dead”

Something absurd happening in a retail or food service setting and the staff behaves as if this is all perfectly normal

Two characters are having a stiff, slightly confrontational, usually sexually charged conversation and then one says “you’re bleeding” and the other goes “huh? Ohhh…”

The sweet intimacy that comes from one character mending the wounds of another

“This is no time to panic” “this is a perfect time to panic!”

There is a bad situation that needs solved and the main character’s solution to that problem is basically the same situation but with added chaos (being shot at by a war lord is bad, so let’s add a jet pack! That’ll fix everything)

The shoebill is staring at Ryne. Just. Staring.

But then that one overlord fucks up…
