Birthday Bash Pt 2: The Party
JC had finished stringing all the lights and decorations for his best friend’s birthday party. He had help from John, Bee, and Toby, as well as Jay, Anna, and Matt. It felt nice to talk to other students. He didn’t really talk to many others besides Ezra. He did converse a bit with Cameron from time to time, and sometimes the other wolves.
“Thanks for your help.” JC sighed in relief as he realized that he was done. The gymnasium was their party spot of choice, with the back door leading outside as well. The place looked pretty damn great.
“Yeah, no problem.” Matt sighed, running a hand through his hair. He looked over at Anna, who was licking frosting off of her fingers. She was in charge of the cupcakes and other sweets with Jay helping with the other snacks and drinks.
“You should come. Invite her with.” JC smiled, nudging the Vamp gently. Matt shrugged and blushed, running his fingers through his hair.
“I think Jay beat me to it.” He frowned, looking away. He felt guilty for having feelings for Anna; Jay was one of his best friends. He didn’t want to hurt him.
“You’ll never know if you don’t try.” JC shrugged. He patted Matt on the back before moving on to double check everything. Another sigh of relief met his lips and he smiled. Everything was perfect.
Checking his watch, he realized that Jaren would be here any minute with Ezra. He didn’t bother asking people to hide; Ezra hated surprises and his anger would get the best of him. Wolves were naturally angry, but Ezra was even more angry on this day. JC knew why, too, but he just wanted his best friend to have a good day.
When the double doors leading into the gym from inside the school opened, JC grinned and threw his hands up. “Happy birthday!” His voice was overshadowed by everyone else’s; a conglomeration of varying tones saying the same thing.
Ezra sighed, running his fingers through his curly hair. He forced a smile at his best friend. “You did all this for me?”
“Of course I did!” JC grinned, wrapping his arm around his best friend’s shoulders. “It’s your special day, bro!”
Ezra nodded. “Yeah. It is.” He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up. Jaren smiled and gave his shoulder a squeeze before walking off to see his friends.
“Alright.. So.. Ready to have fun?” JC smiled, leading the older wolf to the snack table.
“Yeah, buddy, I an.” Ezra smiled. “Where’s the weed though?”
“Right here!” Matt pointed down to a bunch of edibles. Ezra shrugged and ate a few, eager to feel the effects.
“Oh! One more thing!” The phoenix handed the wolf a small box. Ezra opened it and laughed his ass off. Inside the box was a small chew toy meant for a dog.
“I hate you!” He laughed, the high making it ten times more funny. JC laughed with him, doubling over.
