uhhh scratches my head. skippy inspirations. open the music list for a few songs that get cut off.
Obviously not shown is pirate aesthetics. His 'genie' leg tapering into the beer can Skippy proper is supposed to mimic a peg leg. Also not shown is blue lava lamps. Also not shown is the commonly accepted Elder appearance, in which he gets his head shape, the veiny mimicry of the wires that make up his neck and blend into his 'hair', and his three fingers. His three fingers are also supposed to mimic bird talons to further the bird imagery.
Also why birds? Owls are symbols of war, knowledge, wisdom, strategy, and divine vehicles of godly knowledge. So he's a snowy owl in colors and horned owl in profile. Yay!
His Napoleonic uniform is based on the fandom appearance I've seen before but also in that I like the epaulettes and tassels to kinda be his way to express wires, motherboards, and connectors. But he is also just a haughty idiot and I associate him with blue. (to contrast Joe's orange. sigh.)
And okay. Starlight Express... .look I cannot explain. It just. Is. His body shape, the angles, the inorganic core. It just. Makes sense to me. Don't ask me to elaborate.

Friendly reminder that I ain't even done with SpecOps (b2) so just... don't ruin this for me... also I have always associated Joe with orange and greens and him staring into the orange planet and contemplating death... I.. okay.
SO this is...gestures vaguely. I doubt Elder AIs have names. When she meets the crew of the Flying Dutchman, she explains that her name is unpronounceable because the planet that she has been named on speaks in multiphonics, thus impossible for the human tongue. She explains that her name from this planet translates closest to the English Polaris or Upper Star. So, she asks to be named Polaris but everyone on the Flying Dutchman calls her Polly for short. She doesn't mind...eventually.
With my limited knowledge and theories, here's the vibes so far:
