[ MINNOW + BEAU ]
Summer had faded away from Hogwarts with startling quickness, leaving a chilly mist settled over the entire grounds. Gryffindor tower was as bright and red as ever, and Minnow found that more and more students were beginning to pull out their maroon and gold scarves. One of her dorm mates was staring out of the window, nose pressed against the glass. “How long do you think we can hold out from getting snow?” Minnow hoped it would start to snow as soon as possible. She loved it- always had. Her and Afric had spent many a winter eagerly awaiting snow to play in. Her roommate reminded her a bit of Afric. The curly, red hair was mostly what did it. Georgina Walton, though, was no Afric. That wasn’t to say that Minnow didn’t appreciate her. To say that would be a lie. But the bond wasn’t quite as strong. Of all her roommates, Georgina, or Georgie as she liked to be called, had been a bit cold to Minnow for the first while at Hogwarts. She’d sort of made fun of her name during their first meeting, which immediately set Minnow off.
The two had become friends sometime after that, but some damage had already been done. “I’m hoping it starts to snow...yesterday.” She hopped up from bed, straightening her cloak and adjusting her scarf. “I won’t be back ‘til late tonight. I’m gonna meet-” Georgie unglued herself from the window and turned around, a half smile on her lips. “Beau. You’re going to meet Beau. This we know.”
Minnow grabbed a throw pillow from her bed and threw it at Georgie. “Spot on, Georgie.”
Beau was someone that Minnow found herself close with. His presence had been one instrumental in making her feel at home at Hogwarts. Which, for many, came as odd. A Gryffindor and Slytherin best friend duo? Apparently it wasn’t quite the norm. But Minnow hadn’t been raised around wizards to know, and Beau obviously didn’t care. Minnow left the dormitories, then Gryffindor tower, and headed for the Great Hall. Once there she spotted him almost immediately, sneaking around from the back so he wouldn’t see her.
Finally behind him she placed her hands over his eyes. “Guess who!” She paused a moment before continuing on. “I’ll give you some clues- she’s got curly hair, is undeniably cute, and is much better than you at Charms.”
