I’m writing this as a message to spread awareness about the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand’s border. It is important to note that I’m speaking as a citizen and no politician who is just concern about this situation and wants it to stop. (With links and sources)

From what I have seen, Cambodia —a much smaller nation in-comparison to Thailand— has been painted as the bad guy in this situation. Here are some facts for you to take into account before taking sides, especially of one filled with lies.

May, 28, 2025 - a Cambodian solider was killed near our border. Here the conflict starts to rise once more (the fight about borders has been boiling for centuries.)

June, 15, 2025 - We sought out to have a discussion at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) but Thailand refused to cooperate. They rejected and reiterated.

July, 24, 2025 - Thailand snuck in and installed barbed wires at the foot of Ta Moan Thom temple. At 7:04AM, they hovered drones and at 8:30 AM fired into the sky. Forced to defend the homeland, Cambodian fired back.

Thailand also claims that we began it by planning bombs which made no sense since it would jeopardise our case towards the ICJ.

It is also here that they claim Cambodia fired at civilians and hospital. Here is the picture of the ‘hospital’ that they claimed we fired at as.

As you can see, the hospital seems to be merely abandoned with no medical supplies in sight.

During all this, Cambodian people who had been residing in Thailand faced multiple occurrences of assault. Ranging from being beaten up to stabbed.

I would like to ask why would we fire first when our economic power, military power are nowhere near where Thailand stands?

July, 25, 2025 - At 3:02 AM, Thai opened fire at Kmaoch, Tathav and 303 mountains. Opened fire at Mom Bei area and more.

We urged for United Nations intervention. We were met with: "Diplomacy may not have always succeeded in preventing conflicts, violence and instability - but it still holds the power to stop them," says United Nations.

July, 26, 2025 - Thai initiates fire using heavy artillery on many areas in Veal Veng district, Pursat province.

Cambodia and Thailand agrees to a ceasefire after US mediation, trading table to stop fightings.

Thai army accused of Cambodian attacking Laos. Only for Laos to deny those reports.

July, 27, 2025 - At 2AM Thai shells Veal Intry area. 2:30 Thai shells Tathav and Phnom Kmaoch regions with hovering drones above consistently. 4:50 AM Thai fires heavy artillery onto Ta Moan Thom and Ta Krabei temple.

This is all after ‘agreeing’ to a ceasefire with US as a mediator.

They also fired on the UNESCO-listed Preah Vihear Temple.

Since we are a smaller nation, our resources are limited; therefore, we aren’t able to keep up with the amount of lives losts, and injuries. By Saturday, 13 people had been killed, including eight civilians, and 50 wounded. At least 80,000 people in Cambodia have been displaced by the fighting, according to the defense ministry.

Thank you for reading this, I truly want to clarify that we did not start the war! We are a country that knows the cost of war, still recovering from a genocide so we know how much it takes away from people. We have been seeking a solution to this problem before it even truly started. We want peace!
