Wow, havenāt been on Tumblr for over 2 years now xD~ Iāve no idea if people are still following me here; migrated to other social medias by now like me xD;;.Ā I didnāt really just want to leave it like this though.
I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 fibrosis sarcoma cancer, and the doc thinks I got about 1-1.5 years left. I guess Iām really here to kindaā¦.leave my mark? These are just some of my work from the past few years I havenāt been uploading here :3
Iām more active on Twitter, Instagram and Patreon. Every bit of support helps <3. Iām not sure if Iām ever posting back here, but thank you guys so much for reading.

My friend told me a story he hadnāt told anyone for years. When he used to tell it years ago people would laugh and say, āWhoād believe that? How can that be true? Thatās daft.ā So he didnāt tell it again for ages. But for some reason, last night, he knew it would be just the kind of story I would love. Ā When he was a kid, he said, they didnāt use the word autism, they just said āshyā, or āisnāt very good at being around strangers or lots of people.ā But thatās what he was, and is, and he doesnāt mind telling anyone. Itās just a matter of fact with him, and sometimes it makes him sound a little and act different, but thatās okay. Ā Anyway, when he was a kid it was the middle of the 1980s and they were still saying āshyā or āwithdrawnā rather than āautisticā. He went to London with his mother to see a special screening of a new film he really loved. He must have won a competition or something, I think. Some of the details he canāt quite remember, but he thinks it must have been London they went to, and the filmā¦! Well, the film is one of my all-time favourites, too. Itās a dark, mysterious fantasy movie. Every single frame is crammed with puppets and goblins. There are silly songs and a goblin king who wears clingy silver tights and who kidnaps a baby and this is what kickstarts the whole adventure. Ā It was āLabyrinthā, of course, and the star was David Bowie, and he was there to meet the children who had come to see this special screening. Ā āI met David Bowie once,ā was the thing that my friend said, that caught my attention. Ā āYou did? When was this?ā I was amazed, and surprised, too, at the casual way he brought this revelation out. Almost anyone else I know would have told the tale a million times already. Ā He seemed surprised I would want to know, and he told me the whole thing, all out of order, and I eked the details out of him. Ā He told the story as if it was heād been on an adventure back then, and he wasnāt quite allowed to tell the story. Like there was a pact, or a magic spell surrounding it. As if something profound and peculiar would occur if he broke the confidence. Ā It was thirty years ago and all us kids whoād loved Labyrinth then, and who still love it now, are all middle-aged. Saddest of all, the Goblin King is dead. Does the magic still exist? Ā I asked him what happened on his adventure. Ā āI was withdrawn, more withdrawn than the other kids. We all got a signed poster. Because I was so shy, they put me in a separate room, to one side, and so I got to meet him alone. Heād heard I was shy and it was his idea. He spent thirty minutes with me. Ā āHe gave me this mask. This one. Look. Ā āHe said: āThis is an invisible mask, you see? Ā āHe took it off his own face and looked around like he was scared and uncomfortable all of a sudden. He passed me his invisible mask. āPut it on,ā he told me. āItās magic.ā Ā āAnd so I did. Ā āThen he told me, āI always feel afraid, just the same as you. But I wear this mask every single day. And it doesnāt take the fear away, but it makes it feel a bit better. I feel brave enough then to face the whole world and all the people. And now you will, too. Ā āI sat there in his magic mask, looking through the eyes at David Bowie and it was true, I did feel better. Ā āThen I watched as he made another magic mask. He spun it out of thin air, out of nothing at all. He finished it and smiled and then he put it on. And he looked so relieved and pleased. He smiled at me. Ā ā'Now weāve both got invisible masks. We can both see through them perfectly well and no one would know weāre even wearing them,ā he said. Ā āSo, I felt incredibly comfortable. It was the first time I felt safe in my whole life. Ā āIt was magic. He was a wizard. He was a goblin king, grinning at me. Ā āI still keep the mask, of course. This is it, now. Look.ā Ā I kept asking my friend questions, amazed by his story. I loved it and wanted all the details. How many other kids? Did they have puppets from the film there, as well? What was David Bowie wearing? I imagined him in his lilac suit from Live Aid. Or maybe he was dressed as the Goblin King in lacy ruffles and cobwebs and glitter. Ā What was the last thing he said to you, when you had to say goodbye? Ā āDavid Bowie said, āIām always afraid as well. But this is how you can feel brave in the world.ā And then it was over. Iāve never forgotten it. And years later I cried when I heard he had passed.ā Ā My friend was surprised I was delighted by this tale. Ā āThe normal reaction is: thatās just a stupid story. Fancy believing in an invisible mask.ā Ā But I do. I really believe in it. Ā And itās the best story Iāve heard all year.

Hi, I read that you've dealt with with impostor syndrome in the past, and I'm really struggling with that right now. I'm in a good place and my friends are going through a lot, and I'm struggling to justify my success to myself when such amazing people are unhappy. I was wondering if you have any tips to feel less like this and maybe be kinder to myself, but without hurting anyone around me. It's a big ask, I know, but any help would make my life a lot less stressful
The best help I can offer is to point you to Amy Cuddyās book, Presence. She talks about Imposter Syndrome (and interviews me in it) and offers helpful insight.
The second best help might be in the form of an anecdote. Some years ago, I was lucky enough invited to a gathering of great and good people: artists and scientists, writers and discoverers of things. And I felt that at any moment they would realise that I didnāt qualify to be there, among these people who had really done things.
On my second or third night there, I was standing at the back of the hall, while a musical entertainment happened, and I started talking to a very nice, polite, elderly gentleman about several things, including our shared first name. And then he pointed to the hall of people, and said words to the effect of,Ā āI just look at all these people, and I think, what the heck am I doing here? Theyāve made amazing things. I just went where I was sent.ā
And I said,Ā āYes. But you were the first man on the moon. I think that counts for something.ā
And I felt a bit better. Because if Neil Armstrong felt like an imposter, maybe everyone did. Maybe there werenāt any grown-ups, only people who had worked hard and also got lucky and were slightly out of their depth, all of us doing the best job we could, which is all we can really hope for.

I found some old art books today called āCeltic Art: The methods of Construction by George Bainā Which, I found interesting. I only have 4 out of the 7, they are very old (From 55 years ago). I thought I would just share some scans from them, some people might find them useful. :)

Mental breakdown tag lol
do I use this script or not
also vedj - still going, but will probably miss some days and thatās OKAY Iām worried for this video, because rather than generalising mental illness as important, and needs to be talked about, I go into detail about the specifics of what Iām feeling. And itās not pretty. If you canāt relate, and I hope you donāt, Iām going to seem very very strange. But mental illness isnāt simple, itās not all letās blow on thumbs together to stop these darn panic attacks, or this cute cartoon girl crying in a corner. Itās so much bigger and uglier and more complex. I havenāt been making videos because I didnāt know how to when my head has been consumed and overtaken by what Iām about to talk about. But I think Iāve figured it out. so hereās the thing you may have seen on twitter i mentioned that i havenāt really felt like iām here since i was 17 in a vid recently and then within the last week that sort of upped as a problem by like, 80% i went to wales for some shoots, felt crazy the whole weekend, then came back and got very panicky about the fact that I was going mad I had slept fine, and I kept expecting to wake up better, but I just didnāt Iāll explain what this all actually is and how it feels in a bit, plz hold so I got back, and knew that I felt messed up, so tried registering to the doctors walked there, in my weird dream state, took a proof of address cause I knew I needed that, handed it in, and then they said that I needed proof of address within the last two months i was teetering on the edge of tears and also feeling really weird so I think they must have thought I was actually insane I forgot how to say thanks and bye so I think I just left, dunno walked home, in this strange, bright dream world tried finding proof of address, forgot how to talk to my housemate, scared she was going to notice that I was drunk, except i wasnāt drunk and then my mum called and said dodie are you okay and I just sort of broke i was sobbing, rummaging through bin bags to try to find some sort of proof of address, on the phone to mum, and I decided to visit home home for some sort of familiarity, cause I used to feel so normal and alive in that house, when I was younger so I went home home, crying on the train, panicking about the fact that I was going mad and all my friends were like dodie wtf that was when I tweeted saying I needed a break then I saw mum and started crying about the fact that I left my old bedroom bed in dovan flat, cause I just wanted my normal bed in my normal room so I could feel normal and I came home but of course I wasnāt magically cured because going to that house is not the same as time travel iām not taking a trip to 2012 when I go home, as much as I want to, iām a broken dodie visiting a broken house and a broken ish family I even visited my old primary school which shut down, like, years ago, and I wandered around with hedy I donāt think that helped, cause it felt like it had just, grown leaves and aged in like 20 seconds it just made me feel even weirder so what am I feeling? Okay. let me explain. Or try to. here are a bunch of messages I have sent to friends of mine, to try and explain wtf this is āiām so tired Iām just so tired I feel like Iāve been awake for 4 days And I donāt feel like Iām here I feel like Iām drunk Like Iāve had three wines and shots and beer and Iām tired and ready to go home and I canāt talk to anyone because Iāve forgotten how I usually talk I donāt even look like me Everything is so wrong and weird and scary I honestly think Iām going mad I canāt stop crying Iāve got such a bad headacheā to lucy And Iāve just constantly felt like Drunk and blind You know when youāre hammered And everythingās really bright and you canāt remember how to talk properly and youāre not really taking anything in cause you feel really weird and you can touch things and see things and talk to people but youāre not really There I genuinely genuinely think Iāve gone mad And I donāt know if Iām ever going to see things like normal againā to sammy āHereās the thing Iām alive I can breathe I can eat and talk and sleep and see and feel So I should be okay And objectively, I am fine So why am I not Itās one of those things that I keep thinking about over and over to the point where my head is like is this really happening and then Iām like is WHAT really happening I used to not understand mental illnesses at all I was like Just think of cats and rainbows But now I get it Itās so much deeper in your brain than cats and rainbows I used to say if I ever got dementia or something id fight it But how can you fight it when the it is the thing youāre using to fight with Dodie has gone full blown madā to jon now, thanks to the last vid, and to google, Iāve found out what this probably is and Iām trying my best to register and see a doctor and get therapy and sort this out and also I know what youāre thinking if you have no idea what Iām talking about, if youāve never had anything even close to this, if you are mentally dandy youāre thinking dodie you sound mental just shut up, turn it off youāre fine youāre obsessing over nothing, youāre attention seeking, just stop thinking about it firstly, I am so happy and thankful that you feel normal and happy and go and enjoy your life because you can and secondly, I would do anything to turn this off and feel normal again, literally anything. But I canāt. not right now. I donāt know how. so. hereās my plan. Iām going to act fucking normal. I can still sing. I am still alive, on this planet, even though I donāt feel like it. I still find things funny, I still can taste food, I can make jokes, and write songs and hang out with friends, even though I literally feel like Iām hiding something from everyone and I keep looking at everyone as if Iām a robot. but Iām going to sort this out, somehow. Iām going to sleep before midnight and wake up before 9, Iām going to give myself weekends, Iām going to do mindfullness meditation at 11am, and Im going to go running at least twice a week and eat healthy and drink water and not drink too much alcohol and treat myself when Iāve done well and not overwhelm myself. And Iām going to go to a doctor, and then therapy, and deal with this. But this will not consume me. Yeah I feel fucking weird. Bring it. Iām so done with the constant buzz in my head - why do I feel like this why do i feel like this why do i feel like this I just do. And I canāt change it right now. Itās not going to turn off. and I canāt just stop the world until I feel normal again, because Iāll get to my 70s and be like well shit, I missed it all. So Iām going to do the best I can. Iām going to make the videos that make me happy. And Iām going to laugh about the fact that Iām a bit mental. Cause what else can you do.
Whilst I type this Iām on the phone to my bank to get a statement sent to prove my address to go BACK to the doctors to prove I live here then get an appointment to get referred to therapists. The NHS may be free but itās not bloomin easy lol.
gotta say making this video was super healthy for me. It was good to edit together and see that I can pass as a functioning human.

Picking up the pieces of Broken people cause Iāve got nowhere else to go Found a new job Iām Hardly cualified for But they donāt seem to mind
People are forgiving, people are kind
Staring at the mirror for I glimpse of who I was before Cause I miss her sometimes Canāt say Iām lonely but That could be cause Iāve Lived through harder times
Nothing is perfect, but Iām fine
Canāt say Iām living the dream Or that everyone is lovely But they donāt know me very well Canāt say Iām out of the woods By any strech but things Are looking good
Iām still prone to headaches I often find myself just sitting Waiting for them to end And Iām not half as good at anything I do As I want to be But at least Iām still trying cause
Nothing is perfect, but Iām fine
Canāt say Iām living the dream Or that everyone is lovely But they donāt know me very well Canāt say Iām out of the woods By any strech but things Are looking good
Picking up the pieces of Broken people cause I think I might be one of them
