thinking about. how nobody would have known how to comfort fintan after the everblaze incident & pyrokinesis ban (those few elves who didn’t hate him after that at least). because like. everyone in the lost cities seems to be so insistent on avoiding guilt. so after a tragic accident of course they’d want to default to the classic “nooo it’s not your fault :(“ but what if it was his fault? what then? what would you even say? how do you comfort someone who has done something so terrible? would you even want to? does he deserve it?

anyway i think this simple inability to provide reassurance & support led everyone to leave him to fend for himself after the accident which in turn led to him feeling angry & abandoned & guilty & yeah you know the rest
