Gill Hicks lost part of both legs in the London bombings of 2005
Hicks was the last living victim rescued.
Both her legs were amputated below the knee, and her injuries were so severe that she was initially not expected to live.
She was admitted to hospital without a name, identified only as ‘One Unknown’

Late for work that day, the first time ever, after having argued the night before with partner, she would have ordinarily been in the office by 7.30 and wouldn’t have been on the tube at that time any other day.
The bomb went off at around 10 to 9.
Hicks separated a couple of years later.
However, there’s a happy ending…
In 2011 she met industrial designer Karl Falzon and returned to live in Australia, where she gave birth to her daughter.
