reading off the message, jesinia grins a bit, shaking her head. 'i don't think it's that bad, just a little spooky. it's probably not really haunted, just old and creaky.' she'd never seen any evidence of the supernatural, so there was no reason to get worked up just yet.

Gwen looked around at their surroundings as she listens to the other's reply. Looking back to Jesinia and nodding, though not looking convinced at all before typing out a new message to show her. "That is true. I can't explain it, but I feel a lot different here than I thought I would. It feels like we could fall right through the floor."

walking around the supposedly haunted building, jes can't help the intrigue on her face as she notices someone else nearby. opening up her text to speech app, she types a bit of text before hitting enter. 'are you here for the same reasons i am? or are you one of the ghosts i've heard about?'

Gwen didn't know what possessed her to come to this building. She had figured it might be a fun location for a couple of portfolio pictures. Yet now that she was here, she was greatly regretting her choices. "I.." The scared blonde begins to say before pulling out her phone and typing a message before holding it out to the other. "I was going to take some pictures here but, I obviously made a horrible mistake. Are you okay?"

"you'll find someone that will give you that feeling, i promise. it's just going to take is all. though there is no need to rush it." because he would be pretty upset if gwen had fallen fast and hard for someone and they broke her heart. his daughter was too much of a good person to have to go through all of that. "you know me, i'll be working forever i think." a soft laugh escaped him as he settled in to his seat, a pen in his hand. "then clearly it was all practice for this very moment---the moment you get to help dad at work."

"Don't worry, Dad. I'm in no rush for any of that. I'm just enjoying my twenties the most I possibly can." The idea of falling in love gave her such anxiety that she avoided getting into anything too serious. She was happy with how her life was now and wasn't in a hurry to change that. Gwen did hope that her dad would find the love he deserved again. It had been so seemingly long that she could barely remember a time it wasn't just the two of them. "I take after you a bit in that way. I'm just doing the wild fun stuff now before I settle down into the quite life of a scientist." She jokes with a laugh. The young woman beams happily at the chance to bond with her dad over his work. "Exactly! I've been training for this moment my whole life."

"if it develops organically i guess i'm not opposed to really putting myself out there again. but... it's a scary prospect." it wasn't like he had been the most lucky in the love department. quite the opposite actually. it almost felt like to him that he was never going to be able to find that love people hyped up. a sigh left him. but it wasn't time to dwell on that. this time was to spend with his kid. "that makes me feel better. at least i know when i'm super old and gray i won't be all alone." there was teasing tone to his voice, a small grin pulling at the corners of his lips. "that sounds like a plan to me." he pushed a small stack of papers towards her. "luckily this assignment wasn't too long so it shouldn't take ages."

"I know what you mean. I get afraid of getting into anything too serious. Besides, it seems no one can make my heart do that flutter thing you hear about when people fall in love." She remarks with a shrug, glad to know she wasn't the only one who struggled in that area of life. Gwen laughs lightheartedly and happy at his remark. "I wouldn't let that happen for the world. Plus, knowing you, you'd still be working and we'd have even more bonding nights like this." Gwen says in a cheerful tone as she takes the stack he pushed towards her. "Even if it did, you remember how I used to be hidden in my room at my desk for hours studying and writing papers? I'm a pro at this by now."

"you can hold me to it." he answered with a grin. there would never be a time that he wasn't going to enjoy just being with his kid---his one pride and joy in life. as she spoke about someone special he shifted in his seat, clearing his throat. "well, you know," he started as he shifted his hands. "that's not something i'm too focused on right now. i like my life as it is. i've got my work, my kid, my health. i'm not in any rush. but i'll never say no to seeing my kiddo more." he knew that since gwen was grown up they were going to see each other less; it was just the natural order of life, the painful part of being a parent. but he had accepted that it was what it was. "if you want to help. i've got a small group that are already done, but i've still got a long way to go."

Gwen smiles brightly at her father, feeling just so thankful she had him in her life. She rests her folded arms upon the top of the couch before resting her head upon them looking at him as she listened. "I know, I won't ever push the idea, but I want you to know that I'd be supportive if that was something you wanted. I haven't took dating that seriously either, like father like daughter huh? And I promise to come around more; no matter how old I am, I like spending time with my Dad." Gwen often wished that time could reverse and just be the brightest kid in her class and living back at home in her old room. Life was just so simple back then. "I'd love to help!" She says with a smile as she gets up from the couch and pulls a chair up to the other side of his desk across from him. "Hand over my half, and maybe we could go get dinner and ice cream after?"

he couldn't help but let out a laugh at her words. "oh come on! you know what i mean. you just get too busy, there is no room to squeeze in a visit to dad." though it was clear that every word that escaped his lips were both teasing and loving. he knew that he would always have gwen at the end of the day. "good. i'm holding you to that." he hooked his pinky with hers and it felt like she was his little girl all over again. they really did grow up in the blink of an eye. "just remember not to overwork yourself. that's my downfall." the sad part is he was going to keep doing just that. "really?" an eyebrow rose up as he looked at her. "a random woman? that---i don't know, didn't raise any red flags?" at least for him if some random person said 'let's have a spa day' he would be very skeptical. "a little bit. but it's the end of the semester. there is too much grading to do."

Gwen laughs happily as she looks up to her father with bright eyes. Shaking her head. "Never." She responds before the pinky promise. Another laugh comes out of her. "You better." After the pinky promise she sits on the couch sideways and leaning against it as she continues to listen to him. "I know, I know. I'm the same way sometimes, but I've been trying. We should hang out more and... maybe there's someone special out there in the city for you..." She wasn't going to push that, but it had been so long and she wanted her dad to be happy. When he questioned her going off with a random woman to have a spa day; she smiles and shrugs. "It's probably not the safest choice, but it's all fine, it worked out." She shifts in her spot on the couch to sit up straight as she looks over to his desk. "I can help if you want. I was really good in school, first in my class."

he gives her a soft hug, a small chuckle escaping him. "you say that now but you never know, things can change oh so fast my dear." he let her go after a moment. "i know. i'm proud of you for focusing so much on your work. i've been alright, keeping myself busy with work. i hope you have found some time to rest between all your work."

No matter what was going on, good days or bad, a hug from her dad just made it all better. She doesn't respond right away as she was too busy enjoying the warm sense of safety. But when he pulls back she puts on a goofy and playful attempt at a look of disgust. "Change? Ew. Like what kind of change? I'll get old and boring and just want to read all the time?" She teases him before she chuckles and shakes her head. "I'll never get tired of spending time with you, dad. I promise." The young woman says raising a hand with a pinky out to playfully pinky swear like she used to when she was a kid. "I got being such a hard worker from you, so of course it's going really well." Gwen says with a bright smile. "And yes, I have, I promise. Actually, some random woman asked me to go to a spa day with her yesterday and I did, so that was nice. How about you? Are you letting yourself relax at all?"

"hey sweetheart," karolos stated with a smile as he looked over at his daughter. it was a much needed relief to be able to see her considering the day that he had been having. "you haven't stopped by in a while. i was starting to think it wasn't cool to visit your dad anymore." he spoke in a teasing tone.

"Hi dad!" Gwen says in a cheery voice as she approaches her father and hugs him. She laughs at his teasing words and shakes her head. "You'll never be uncool to hang out with. I've just been so focused on putting my portfolio together and finding gigs. But I missed you and really wanted to see you today. How are you?"

his eyebrows knit together in confusion. "what do you mean you're going to forget?" was it thanks to that damn cupid? but just putting those two pieces together... "gwen, hey," he started as he looked in to her eyes. "don't. please, trust someone with whatever is weighing on you. i promise you don't want to forget.''

"Well..." She says before pausing, not wanting to say she was apparently going to die.. again. "Dad, I trust you. If I could tell without messing it up, I'd tell you." Gwen says before taking a brief pause. "I have no regrets thinking I was Gwen Dura before, and I know I won't regret it this time either. I just." The young woman starts to look very uneasy, eyes seemingly on the verge of tears. "It'll be my third death, and there's a saying where I'm from.. the third times the charm.. I'm only afraid that it might be permanent this time."

"gwen?" it was a natural reaction for karolos to look up when he heard that familiar voice. almost like it was still a name he had been called all his life. "no no, it's fine. i've got a moment. why don't we go over there?" he motioned to a quiet hallway to their right, worry building in his stomach.

"Thank you." Gwen nods in agreement while trying to give him a bit of a smile; though it quickly fades. She was a little off balance since she was a lightweight, but otherwise, she looked alright, just a little afraid. When they get to the spot, she doesn't waste time getting to the point. "I just, I'm going to forget again soon, and I just didn't want you to be surprised by it." She says as her hands nervously rub against each other.
