I’m reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like “ugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribou” and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but it’s rare to hear about someone who’s invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome

i definitely see where i can improve going forward from this one (left arm should be a little lower, also a shorter torso would help show the slouched posture better. i guess you could just say it's at a slightly different angle though???). i still like it enough to post though :p

retrospectively, it looks a little... uh... questionable? potentially?? oh well. i don't even recall what game it's from anymore, or who i was watching when i snatched the screenshot (it's been a year or two since i did), so i've got no idea how to credit the original image either. but i saw it and the pose struck me such that i immediately decided i had to draw eridan as it/in a pose and outfit heavily inspired by it.
the random rifle was ad-libbed in. i always envisioned it that way, so :p
here's the timelapse, i FINALLY got a full one! though i will say this process was extremely unusual for me. i usually start with the head and just bullshit my way through making the body top-down. also, i did trace the general anatomy of the original image to get a good idea of where things are (though it didn't really end up working that well anyway T_T).
also, i'll be away for the weekend, so nothing will be posted then most likely (unless i finally get the guts to post my old, crappy erigam art, which i have been meaning to post for like 3 weeks now, but get too nervous about every time because it is Old). my current college quarter is also wrapping up so things are just going to be pretty slow for a while. i don't think anyone is expecting regular posts from me anyway, but i'd like to share why i'll be absent for some time. so yah. smiles

outside of the text, she is very clearly some kind of fucked up mom lalonde-bro strider amalgamate. like next chapter we're gonna go into the holiday home to find the shelter code and shes gonna stalk us around the house by flashstepping and moving around one of her reindeer dolls to fuck with us. we break into her room and find an unholy stash of spiked eggnog and her laptop. "maybe she wrote it down in here!" susie says. noelle tries to guess the password and gets it first try (its ifuckinglovechristmash0h0h0). the laptop opens and we find that she hasnt logged out of her soundcloud account where she anonymously posts her Epic Christmas Raps. open the file search and theres nothing else on the laptop its just her shitty fucking rap wips and 5 Family Photos. susie thinks her raps are awesome but doesnt want to admit it. this is my official ch 6 prediction.

like how every single autistic person seems to have some version of what I call the impermeable membrane which is like this sense of a veil or film or sheet of glass between you and the world. Like you can describe it to someone and they’ll be like oh yeah my impermeable membrane/sheet of glass. like people will talk about how autistics talk and move but I think a lot of autistic people have a shared visual language as well. or how autistic people have different relationships to gender the way queer people do. That gender is performed which takes agency and skill and creative choice. Even the concept that a lot of autistic people have interests that don’t match their aesthetic or aren’t limited to one subculture creates a unique type of cultural dissonance that would be a notable feature of any other artistic culture or movement. Like autism not just being something that acts upon you (as it’s described by everyone else) but something that’s expressed through you with agency and skill
