What are you doing today, right now, to change tomorrow, to reach that goal, to realize that dream, to make a difference, to back up the statements and promises you are making?

"…tomorrow we will go…" James 4:13

What are you waiting for?

"…you do not even know what will happen tomorrow." James 4:14

If you are not taking action and doing what is on your heart to do, then you are just making empty promises, boasting and bragging.

"Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins." James 4:17

Instead, hand the keys to God, set your course, make your plans and go for it.

"If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that." James 4:15

We hear it all the time, "cross my fingers and hope to die", "I swear on my life". We are always looking for guarantees we feel are more valuable than what is at stake so that others are more likely to find us or that dealing trustworthy.

So how much greater then are the promises of an unchanging God who swears on himself, when there is none or nothing higher.

"...it is impossible for God to lie" - Hebrews 6:18

This is the root of hope and provides all the encouragement one could ever need.

"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." - Hebrews 6:19

"The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

My human-ness holds me back. In my mind and heart, God has lit a fire, a passion to do good, to be a man of action. But I do not move. My body is weak. It craves easy. It craves comfort. It is passive. It lacks strength and courage.

"Yet no what I will, but what you will."

I cannot will myself forward and to the unknown. It is God's will for me and I must embrace it and have faith in it. My will leads to the couch, to the TV, to my phone, to Facebook.

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation."

I have waged war inside of me. It spills over into my home, which is a blessing, but what of this world? Am I not a soldier in the army to advance God's kingdom?

"Enought! The hour has come" 

"Rise!"
