i think takeshi yamazaki's edgeworth is stiffer and more formal than he should be and is lacking some of the nuanced quirkiness takumi's character writing has that makes it so memorable, but it's not a dealbreaker because it sticks its landing in other areas. i think investigations duology edgeworth is really the right kind of domineering asshole with ultimately good intentions for what makes sense at that stage of his character, and the arc he ultimately takes through the two games is a very satisfying one.

this question from a dev interview also talks about edgeworth also being less likely to act like a sadsack in front of kay and gumshoe than he would be in front of phoenix, and i think thats a fun bit of characterization that helps contextualize the difference between his trilogy writing and duology writing.
