CHAPTER 1

“Ugh… why didn’t I just take the day off? Toya was right, I do need a break… who even is this Kamishiro guy, anyways?” A man walked through a forest, pushing branches out of the way as to not get them in his ginger hair. He grumbled, not wanting to be stuck out in the forest on a Saturday- isn’t that when you’re supposed to rest?

It was always like this, him not wanting to rest, then him paying the consequences. Tsukasa always made fun of him for that- constantly on the grind, as a knight should be. Wasn’t this Kamishiro guy near here?

This man was Akito Shinonome, a Young Knight. He was on the look out for a certain man, one named Rui Kamishiro. He didn’t remember much about what he was told about Kamishiro, just that he was dangerous and must be taken into custody.

Snap.

Akito turned to the noise, hand nearing his sword’s handle.

“Who’s there?!”

he saw some red hair underneath the leaves on the branches of the trees surrounding them. He wasn’t alone.

“Oh~ A knight?” The red hair moved into the light, showing a man. A very tall one.

“You’re-“

The man put his finger over Akito’s mouth.

“Shhh… you’re gonna ruin your cute look if you talk.”

“What?”

“You heard me, uhm… knight?”

“Yes, that happens to be my occupation.” Akito furrowed his eyebrows, getting irritated.

“Oh. How sad!” The man frowned, and started walking away.

“W-wait! You can’t just leave! You haven’t told me anything about you!” Akito grabbed the man’s wrist, pulling it towards him.

“My apologies. You may know me as…”

Akito’s eyes widened as he realized who he just grabbed. “… Rui Kamishiro.” The man laughed, and pulled Akito’s arm towards him.

He pulled him closer, and took his hand from his wrist to put it on his waist. Rui lifted Akito’s face up, almost colliding their lips with each other when..

“I’m afraid I can’t give you the satisfaction, sir~”

“Wh…”

Rui then let go, and ran away, leaving Akito standing there, flabbergasted at what just happened before him. He touched his face, and realized it was all red. What had just happened..

Akito decided to just walk back to the palace. He didn’t need to worry about that person just now… sure, he was a criminal, but he was too tired to deal with him.

“Shinonome?”

Akito looked forward, and saw a tall man with blue hair. Well, two shades of blue. He remembered him well- his ex-boyfriend, Toya Aoyagi.

“Yo, Toya. You’ve been treating the prince well, yes?”

“He hasn’t been hurt yet.”

“That’s why you’re the best knight, of course.”

Akito and Toya laughed, and started walking into the palace more. Akito looked around, trying to find a certain person. Someone who had sent him out on this mission, someone who

“Aki!”

Speak of the devil. Racing forward, a girl darted towards him. Suddenly, Akito felt an embrace against him. Ah yes, this was who had told him to go.

“You can let go now, Saki.”

“But can’t I hold on for a bit longer?”

“Nope.”

Saki let go, and looked towards another room.

“I think I need to go feed.. my pet squirrel! And I need Aki’s help for it!”

Toya stood there, confused. Saki didn’t have a pet squirrel…

“Yes! We must go!”

Akito chimed in, and was pulled by Saki into the room.

The room they entered happened to be a guest bedroom. Somewhere a squirrel most definitely wouldn’t be. Saki sat Akito on the bed, and stood up.

“So?? What happened?? Did you see him??”

“… yes, I met Kamishiro.”

“Was he really a vampire?”

“Wait wait wait, a VAMPIRE?” Akito’s eyes went wide. He didn’t remember being told Kamishiro was a VAMPIRE.

“Of course! I told you before you left!”

that’s what he gets for not listening…

“What happened?” Saki pleaded for info, anything. And so Akito told her the story.

“WHAT?!”

“Exactly! That’s how I felt!”

Saki covered her mouth, and looked around.

“That means… he doesn’t react to sunlight?”

“I guess not…” Akito didn’t want to admit it, but he did look kinda hot in the sunlight… he’d never admit it though!

“Hmm… how are we gonna prove him innocent of his charges if-“

“Wait wait wait, we’re proving him INNOCENT? FOR CRIMES??”

“Well, yeah, but-“ Saki got interrupted once more.

“WHAT CRIMES DID HE COMMIT?”

“Oh you know, manslaughter-“

“MANSLAUGHTER???”

“Look… I know a bit of his past, ok? I just need help getting him out of being hurt more. He wouldn’t kill anyone who didn’t hurt him first, I swear!”

“Saki, you’re insane.”

“Aren’t you insane too?”

“Yeah, but I’m not the one trying to GLORIFY A MURDERER!”

Creeeeeak…

Saki and Akito looked at the door, noticing a few familiar faces. Toya, a blonde man, and a long white haired woman. They just stared for a few moments.

“Uhm… we can explain.”

“Yes… very much so.”

The blonde man shook his head, and spoke. “Saki, what in god’s name is Akito talking about? What murderer are you glorifying?”

This was Tsukasa Tenma, Saki’s older brother, and heir to the throne.

“Look… I just… I don’t believe Rui would kill someone, that’s all. You know that too, don’t you?”

The white haired girl sighed and went to Saki, giving her a hug. “As your advisor, I wouldn’t suggest doing this. Kamishiro is a dangerous man, Saki. Who knows what he’d do to you?”

“But Kanade… he’s a good person. He’s truly a good person…”

Kanade Yoisaki, the princess’ advisor. Akito personally saw her as a little sister. He wasn’t going to get caught up in this right now…

“Tsukasa, can I leave, please?”

“Yes, Akito. Though, meet me later tonight. We must have a talk.” Akito wasn’t really scared. He’d known Tsukasa for a long time- if Akito did something, Tsukasa would understand why.

Toya stayed behind, helping Kanade comfort Saki. Tsukasa had left, as he needed to do things. Saki sat down on the ground, thinking.

Akito got back to his room, and laid on the bed. Today was… exciting, that was for sure. That guy was Rui Kamishiro? He was… good looking, that’s for sure. Wait, what was he thinking?!

A bat smacked the window where his bed laid next to. Seeing this, Akito immediately got up to help the creature. He opened the window, reaching his hand out.

“Come on… don’t be scared.”

The bat slowly creeped onto his hands, and as soon as he had closed the window, there was a puff of smoke.

“Did you miss me, knight?”

Akito jumped off the bed, and onto the floor. He was just trying to get some rest, man!

“Kamishiro…”

“Your voice sounds so sweet, saying my name. Can you say it more?”

Akito was confused. Wait.. wasn’t this guy supposed to be really evil? Like… killed a whole village evil? What’s he doing in his bedroom?!

“I won’t give you the satisfaction.”

He’ll admit, Rui is pretty good at smooth talking. Way too good.

“So cold! It’s like a stake through my heart!”

Rui walked closer towards Akito, taking his hand and making him stand up.

“You’re the most beautiful man I’ve ever set my eyes on.. please, let me..”

He motioned towards Akito’s neck, and Akito was curious at what he would do. But honestly… everything he thought, he wouldn’t really complain about.

“Fine… but you owe me later.”

Rui sank his teeth into Akito’s neck, sucking blood out from the wound made by them. Akito winced in pain, but it oddly didn’t feel that bad. It wasn’t like it felt good, but it wasn’t like he was being stabbed..

“Maybe I’ll get used to you being around. Your blood tastes very sweet, you know.”

“…. You flatter me.”

“Please, won’t you tell me your name?”

Akito thought for a second. This guy? A murderer? He honestly couldn’t believe it now.

“Akito. Akito Shinonome.”

“So beautiful..”

Rui sighed, and went back to the window. He opened it, turned into a bat, and flew out, leaving Akito in confusion. Butterflies in his chest, face all red- what was this?

Akito bandaged his neck, and looked at the time. It seems like he needed to meet with tsukasa soon. He got up, sighing. Damn, that Kamishiro…

“Akito? Are you alright in there? I thought I heard a thud…” Kanade’s voice…

“Ah- yep! All good! Don’t worry!”

He stumbled out of the room, giving a thumbs up.

“Ah… ok. Tsukasa wanted you, by the way.” Akito nodded, and started walking towards the main hall. He was nervous. Did he somehow know that Rui was here? Oh no…

He entered the main hall, anxiety filling him with fear. Was Tsukasa always this menacing?

“Akito.. don’t be scared. I just wanted to tell you a story.”

“Yes, sir.”

Akito went to stand near him, doing his best to remain calm. Then, Tsukasa started talking.

“When me and Saki were little, I’d always get the attention. You know, because I’m an heir and all. But… attention isn’t always a good thing. I felt trapped by my own family, my own peers.” Tsukasa looked away, continuing. “That’s when I met Rui. He and I… got along really well. We dated, haha.. or, we used to date.”

Akito heard this, and felt sick. What was this? He didn’t care about Kamishiro. Was this because of the bite?

“Rui, I believe, would never do anything bad,” Tsukasa went on, “but if he were to hurt anyone, I wouldn’t show mercy. He was turned into a vampire by one of our other good friends, Nene. You probably don’t know her- she was from the village.”

Akito wasn’t thinking. He was mainly focused on one thing. Tsukasa and Rui… dating? There’s no way. No..

“You should always watch out around him, Akito. Even if I doubt he’d hurt anyone, you can never be sure.”

Akito nodded, and walked away. Towards his room again. The window, open, since he had forgotten to close it. But it wasn’t what was bothering him right now.

“He.. dated him? What?”

Akito got into night clothes, took off the bandages on his neck, and locked the door. He locked the window. He didn’t want to be talked to anymore. Was everything a lie? Or was he just trying to get to Tsukasa? What were these feelings flooding his mind?!

The next morning, Tsukasa got worried. Akito wasn’t out of his room yet, and it was almost lunch… what happened?

“Are there any keys to Akito’s door?” He asked Saki, who had been known for breaking into Akito’s room when he was gone to play pranks on him.

“Hmm.. I have one! Here you go!”

Tsukasa took the key, and headed towards Akito’s room.

inside of Akito’s room, there was a bang on the window. Rui was trying to get in again…

“Leave, Kamishiro. I know you just want Tsukasa.”

“Stop speaking nonsense! Let me in, please!”

Akito huffed, and let him in through the window.*“What now? You’re gonna go to Tsukasa?! It’s him you want anyways!”

“What are You Talking about?!”

creaaaaak…

Tsukasa entered the room, noticing Rui. His face went surprised, and he looked at Akito.

“I swear, I can explain…” Akito started, but he was interrupted by Tsukasa.

“Is that.. on your neck…” Akito covered the marks on his neck.

But tsukasa moved his hands. “Rui… did you do this? You… you hurt someone?!” Before Rui could say anything, Tsukasa grabbed his arm and started dragging him towards somewhere.

“Tsukasa, what do you think you’re doing?!”

Akito stepped towards them, and Tsukasa glared at him.“To the prison.”

Rui hadn’t seen outside of the prison for 3 days. Saki brought him water and food, but he hadn’t even seen Akito or Tsukasa at all. What did he do?

“… Akito talked to me about what happened.”

Tsukasa peered from the entrance to the prison, and glared at Rui.

“So… you got consent. But I also wanted to ask something…”

“Eh? What is it?”

Tsukasa motioned for Rui to come closer to him, and when he did, he grabbed him by the collar through the bars of the cage.

“Are you serious?! You really went for Akito to get to me?!? Rui Kamishiro, I thought better of you.”

“W-what?! Tsukasa, what do you mean?”

Rui looked around, debating calling for help. When he looked back down at Tsukasa, he was… crying?

“You bastard… you sly cat bastard! Someone finally treat me like a person, not some fucking god, then you go and act like it never happened?!” “Tsukasa… I Never thought it came off like that… I swear.”

“Swearing doesn’t save anything, Kamishiro! Just fucking tell me! Do you like him or not?!”

Rui gasped, not expecting the question. What would Tsukasa do if he said yes? Or no? He didn’t know how to answer.. how would he react?

By the entrance, Akito was listening in. And very closely. He covered his mouth when he heard Tsukasa say those words. What the hell, man?! You can’t just say those things!

“I…” Rui began to speak, and Akito leaned in to hear more.

“Yes, I do like him.”

Akito couldn’t think. He couldn’t believe it. Rui… likes him?

Tsukasa began to speak.

“Heh, I see now. Then… I guess it’s for the better, anyways. Don’t think this means I’m letting you out, though. You’ve still got to pay for going silent for five years.”

And with that, Tsukasa walked away.

Later That Night, Akito stole a key, and went to visit Rui. He entered the prison, heading straight for Rui’s cell. It wasn’t hard to locate it- he was the only one in jail, after all.

“Eh? Akito?”

“Look… I heard what you said today.”

Akito sighed, and opened the cell door, entering it.

“And.. honestly… man, why’s it so hard to do these kinds of things?!”

Rui jumped at the sudden change in volume, but quickly refocused.

“Look, I just… you know what, fuck it.”

Akito kissed Rui, hugging him while doing so. Rui, in return, Held Akito’s cheek and hip. He tasted amazing, like honey syrup. After a few moments, Akito disconnected their lips.

“Can we just… stay Like This, for a bit?”

“I’d love to stay like this forever.”

“Ahem.” Toya’s voice could be heard from the entrance of the room. He didn’t look very happy.

Toya walked up to the two, and grabbed Akito by the wrist, disconnecting them. He glared at the two.

“You mind telling me what’s going on? Why I just saw a knight kissing a criminal?! What would Tsukasa think, Akito?!? What would he think?!”

“Toya, calm down! What is wrong?! You’re not my dad, you can’t tell me what I can and can’t do!”

“Akito…” Toya slapped him, and pulled on his collar. “You don’t see what’s going on? This man has you wrapped around his finger like a goddamn ring!”

“Seems like someone is jealous~” Rui stated, before getting punched by the knight.

“Shut the hell up, blood sucking freak.”

“Toya! What the fuck?!” Akito pushed himself and Toya out of the cell, and locked it.

“You know it’s against the rules to show aggression to inmates!”

“Oh, so you can kiss him but I can’t punch him?!” Akito scoffed. “That was totally uncool, man. I’m heading to bed. Don’t hurt him any more.”

He glared at Toya before walking away, with Toya soon following after.

When he got into bed, Akito realized he couldn’t just let Rui stay there. Toya would hurt him… but what is he to do?

Then, he got an idea.

The next day, he stole another key. He went down to the prison.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Helping you escape.”

“… what?”

Akito opened up Rui’s cell, and motioned for him to get out.

“I promise I’ll wait for you. But don’t worry… this way, you’ll be safe.”

Inside the main hall, Toya and Tsukasa stood in conversation.

“… and then I walked in, and he was kissing the prisoner!!”

“… now, Toya, I agree that Akito shouldn’t have feelings for Rui, it didn’t give you the right to slap him. Akito wouldn’t do anything to help him anyways- he knows better than that.”

Their conversation was interrupted by Kanade’s soft voice..

“Uhm… Tsukasa? Toya? Rui escaped…”

Akito sat inside his room, waiting while Saki went through his clothes. He didn’t exactly remember why she was doing this, but he was too scared about Rui to care. Have Toya and Tsukasa found out?

“Are you ok, Aki? You haven’t been talking much..”

“I’ll be ok, Saki. Don’t worry.”

After a few moments of silence, the doors to Akito’s room opened. When Saki and Akito turned to the entrance, they saw a pissed off Toya, a disappointed Tsukasa, and a scared Kanade.

“Akito Shinonome, Where is Rui Kamishiro?” Toya almost growled, stomping towards Akito.“What are you accusing me of, Toya?”

“You know damn well what I’m accusing you of.”

Akito scoffed and laughed. “He won’t be hurt by you now, no?”

“Like damn he won’t.”

“W-wait,” Akito froze up. “What?”

Toya pushed Akito, and stormed out of the room. Akito chased after, demanding he be told what he was doing.

“I’m doing what I should have done long ago- killing that damn blood sucker!” Toya got a knife and raced out of the castle, leaving a breathless Akito behind to worry about everything.

Rui walked among the forest trees, peaceful yet scared. Would he ever see Akito again? Would he ever be able to see Tsukasa or Saki?

Rui leaned down by a nearby river and looked down. Where would he go? He didn’t really have a plan. What would he do? “Rui… where…”

Who was that? Toya? Rui quickly raced towards the noise. Hopefully Toya would understand. “Toya.. finally, someone..”

Toya, much to Rui’s surprise, dashed towards him, knife hand. He immediately aimed for his chest, but Rui was able to get out of the way in time. “Why..? What did I do?”

“You… you bloodsuckers! All you do is harm people!”

“Toya…”

Toya again tried to stab Rui, aiming this time for the stomach. He missed again.With the continuing attacks from Toya, Rui got pushed more and more towards a cliff. Rui got nervous, Toya almost got him five times.

“Toya! Please, don’t!”

“You’ll pay, your people will pay…!”

Toya thrusted his knife toward one more time, but lost balance, falling off the cliff. Rui watched as he tumbled down, his blue hair knocking against rocks and staining it red. “No… no way… no….”

Rui stood over the cliff, hyperventilating. What had he done… He backed up, he didn’t know what to do. He needed to go to someone. But who? Who would help him? He just… KILLED someone… would Akito help?Oh right! Akito! Rui turned into his bat form, and raced towards the castle. He must meet with Akito!

In with the castle, Akito hid in his room, scared. He held himself tightly. His hair was a mess. He had scratches on his knees from falling over from the stress.

“Rui.. why…”

Suddenly, Akito heard a knock on his window. He sniffled, and looked to see Rui by his window. He lept towards the window, opening it to let him in. “What happened? Toya just-“ Akito started, but was interrupted by a hug from Rui. Wait… was Rui crying?

“I did something bad, Akito… I did something bad..”

“What do you mean?”

“Just- nothing. Not right now.”

Akito didn’t question it. He just stayed there, hugging Rui. He wished they could stay like this forever, ignoring everyone else. Maybe then he’d be happy. But every time has to be ruined.

Squeeeeeak….

Kanade poked her head through the door. “Akito, did you see- Rui?”

“You’re oddly calm about this.”

“Who am I to stop you two? Anyways, have either of you seen Toya? He hasn’t been back for awhile, and Tsukasa is getting nervous…”

Rui’s eyes grew wide, and he bit his lips. He did know where he was. He knew very well.

“Rui… where is Toya Aoyagi?” Tsukasa calmly asked.

Akito, Rui, Tsukasa, and Saki were in the main hall, and the air was tense.

"Listen...it was an accident" said Rui calmly not trying to start a huge fight

"What did you do?" "He tried to kill me, we happend to be near a cliff, I dodged one of his attacks that I guess he put to much forse into and he slipped and fell, i didn't do anything!"

"And how could we be sure you’re not lying to my face?" Tsukasa said getting more angry with Rui

"I have no reason to trust you after what you did to me, Kamishiro." Tsukasa yelled out a few tears starting to form in his eyes.

“You know damn well that I don’t remember anything from back then, Tsukasa.”

“You don’t remember murdering people? You don’t remember our friends?” Akito and Saki were frozen, confusion and disbelief painted on their faces. Was this.. really Rui?

“You don’t remember Mizuki?! Emu?! Not even Nene?!?” Tsukasa cried, his hands balling into fists and shaking. “Who…?” Rui started, shaking his head. Akito’s eyes widened. Weren’t those Tsukasa’s old friends?

“You have no idea. No fucking idea. You’re such an idiot- you don’t even remember a thing?!” Tsukasa leaped forward, getting between him and Akito. He grabbed Akito’s wrist. “I can’t believe it. You may have forgotten but I haven’t.”

Tsukasa’s mind flashed. He could see it now- Rui, blood covering his mouth, mouth full of organs and skin from Nene’s body. The way his smile was curled so menacingly- it was still in his mind. It was fresh. It was… Horrifying.

“Tsukasa..?” Akito started to speak, but got cut off.

“Shut your damn mouth, Shinonome!” Tsukasa screamed, angrily looking at him. Rui stopped. No… he didn’t do that. No…

But deep down, he knew he did.

He knew that he wasn’t right in the head. He was a monster. He didn’t deserve happiness.

But he knew who did.

“Don’t talk like that to Akito.” Rui took a step closer to Tsukasa, and Saki took his arm.

“Don’t hurt him! He’s just protective!!” She pleaded, holding him back. “You can’t stop me from protecting the man I love!” Rui pushed Saki off, and got even closer to Tsukasa, getting a fist ready.

“Rui Kamishiro! You quit that now! Stop talking like that! You’re insane!” Akito yelled, breaking away from Tsukasa’s grasp, and grabbed Rui’s arm, tightly. “Don’t try to stop me, Aki-“

Rui got slapped in the face by the ginger.

“I told you to fucking stop.” Akito’s monotonous voice scared Rui, and he stopped. He looked at Akito, and saw his disappointment showing. “… I’m leaving. I’ll see you later, Akito.”

Rui turned into a bat and flew away, leaving Akito in gloom.

Saki and Akito looked at the door, noticing a few familiar faces. Toya, a blonde man, and a long white haired woman. They just stared for a few moments.

“Uhm… we can explain.”

“Yes… very much so.”

The blonde man shook his head, and spoke. “Saki, what in god’s name is Akito talking about? What murderer are you glorifying?”

This was Tsukasa Tenma, Saki’s older brother, and heir to the throne.

“Look… I just… I don’t believe Rui would kill someone, that’s all. You know that too, don’t you?”

The white haired girl sighed and went to Saki, giving her a hug. “As your advisor, I wouldn’t suggest doing this. Kamishiro is a dangerous man, Saki. Who knows what he’d do to you?”

“But Kanade… he’s a good person. He’s truly a good person…”

Kanade Yoisaki, the princess’ advisor. Akito personally saw her as a little sister. He wasn’t going to get caught up in this right now…

“Tsukasa, can I leave, please?”

“Yes, Akito. Though, meet me later tonight. We must have a talk.” Akito wasn’t really scared. He’d known Tsukasa for a long time- if Akito did something, Tsukasa would understand why.

Toya stayed behind, helping Kanade comfort Saki. Tsukasa had left, as he needed to do things. Saki sat down on the ground, thinking.

Akito got back to his room, and laid on the bed. Today was… exciting, that was for sure. That guy was Rui Kamishiro? He was… good looking, that’s for sure. Wait, what was he thinking?!

A bat smacked the window where his bed laid next to. Seeing this, Akito immediately got up to help the creature. He opened the window, reaching his hand out.

“Come on… don’t be scared.”

The bat slowly creeped onto his hands, and as soon as he had closed the window, there was a puff of smoke.

“Did you miss me, knight?”

Akito jumped off the bed, and onto the floor. He was just trying to get some rest, man!

“Kamishiro…”

“Your voice sounds so sweet, saying my name. Can you say it more?”

Akito was confused. Wait.. wasn’t this guy supposed to be really evil? Like… killed a whole village evil? What’s he doing in his bedroom?!

“I won’t give you the satisfaction.”

He’ll admit, Rui is pretty good at smooth talking. Way too good.

“So cold! It’s like a stake through my heart!”

Rui walked closer towards Akito, taking his hand and making him stand up.

“You’re the most beautiful man I’ve ever set my eyes on.. please, let me..”

He motioned towards Akito’s neck, and Akito was curious at what he would do. But honestly… everything he thought, he wouldn’t really complain about.

“Fine… but you owe me later.”

Rui sank his teeth into Akito’s neck, sucking blood out from the wound made by them. Akito winced in pain, but it oddly didn’t feel that bad. It wasn’t like it felt good, but it wasn’t like he was being stabbed..

“Maybe I’ll get used to you being around. Your blood tastes very sweet, you know.”

“…. You flatter me.”

“Please, won’t you tell me your name?”

Akito thought for a second. This guy? A murderer? He honestly couldn’t believe it now.

“Akito. Akito Shinonome.”

“So beautiful..”

Rui sighed, and went back to the window. He opened it, turned into a bat, and flew out, leaving Akito in confusion. Butterflies in his chest, face all red- what was this?

Akito bandaged his neck, and looked at the time. It seems like he needed to meet with tsukasa soon. He got up, sighing. Damn, that Kamishiro…

“Akito? Are you alright in there? I thought I heard a thud…” Kanade’s voice…

“Ah- yep! All good! Don’t worry!”

He stumbled out of the room, giving a thumbs up.

“Ah… ok. Tsukasa wanted you, by the way.” Akito nodded, and started walking towards the main hall. He was nervous. Did he somehow know that Rui was here? Oh no…

He entered the main hall, anxiety filling him with fear. Was Tsukasa always this menacing?

“Akito.. don’t be scared. I just wanted to tell you a story.”

“Yes, sir.”

Akito went to stand near him, doing his best to remain calm. Then, Tsukasa started talking.

“When me and Saki were little, I’d always get the attention. You know, because I’m an heir and all. But… attention isn’t always a good thing. I felt trapped by my own family, my own peers.” Tsukasa looked away, continuing. “That’s when I met Rui. He and I… got along really well. We dated, haha.. or, we used to date.”

Akito heard this, and felt sick. What was this? He didn’t care about Kamishiro. Was this because of the bite?

“Rui, I believe, would never do anything bad,” Tsukasa went on, “but if he were to hurt anyone, I wouldn’t show mercy. He was turned into a vampire by one of our other good friends, Nene. You probably don’t know her- she was from the village.”

Akito wasn’t thinking. He was mainly focused on one thing. Tsukasa and Rui… dating? There’s no way. No..

“You should always watch out around him, Akito. Even if I doubt he’d hurt anyone, you can never be sure.”

Akito nodded, and walked away. Towards his room again. The window, open, since he had forgotten to close it. But it wasn’t what was bothering him right now.

“He.. dated him? What?”

Akito got into night clothes, took off the bandages on his neck, and locked the door. He locked the window. He didn’t want to be talked to anymore. Was everything a lie? Or was he just trying to get to Tsukasa? What were these feelings flooding his mind?!

The next morning, Tsukasa got worried. Akito wasn’t out of his room yet, and it was almost lunch… what happened?

“Are there any keys to Akito’s door?” He asked Saki, who had been known for breaking into Akito’s room when he was gone to play pranks on him.

“Hmm.. I have one! Here you go!”

Tsukasa took the key, and headed towards Akito’s room.

inside of Akito’s room, there was a bang on the window. Rui was trying to get in again…

“Leave, Kamishiro. I know you just want Tsukasa.”

“Stop speaking nonsense! Let me in, please!”

Akito huffed, and let him in through the window.*“What now? You’re gonna go to Tsukasa?! It’s him you want anyways!”

“What are You Talking about?!”

Tsukasa entered the room, noticing Rui. His face went surprised, and he looked at Akito.

“I swear, I can explain…” Akito started, but he was interrupted by Tsukasa.

“Is that.. on your neck…” Akito covered the marks on his neck.

But tsukasa moved his hands. “Rui… did you do this? You… you hurt someone?!” Before Rui could say anything, Tsukasa grabbed his arm and started dragging him towards somewhere.

“Tsukasa, what do you think you’re doing?!”

Akito stepped towards them, and Tsukasa glared at him.“To the prison.”

Rui hadn’t seen outside of the prison for 3 days. Saki brought him water and food, but he hadn’t even seen Akito or Tsukasa at all. What did he do?

“… Akito talked to me about what happened.”

Tsukasa peered from the entrance to the prison, and glared at Rui.

“So… you got consent. But I also wanted to ask something…”

“Eh? What is it?”

Tsukasa motioned for Rui to come closer to him, and when he did, he grabbed him by the collar through the bars of the cage.

“Are you serious?! You really went for Akito to get to me?!? Rui Kamishiro, I thought better of you.”

“W-what?! Tsukasa, what do you mean?”

Rui looked around, debating calling for help. When he looked back down at Tsukasa, he was… crying?

“You bastard… you sly cat bastard! Someone finally treat me like a person, not some fucking god, then you go and act like it never happened?!” “Tsukasa… I Never thought it came off like that… I swear.”

“Swearing doesn’t save anything, Kamishiro! Just fucking tell me! Do you like him or not?!”

Rui gasped, not expecting the question. What would Tsukasa do if he said yes? Or no? He didn’t know how to answer.. how would he react?

By the entrance, Akito was listening in. And very closely. He covered his mouth when he heard Tsukasa say those words. What the hell, man?! You can’t just say those things!

“I…” Rui began to speak, and Akito leaned in to hear more.

“Yes, I do like him.”

Akito couldn’t think. He couldn’t believe it. Rui… likes him?

Tsukasa began to speak.

“Heh, I see now. Then… I guess it’s for the better, anyways. Don’t think this means I’m letting you out, though. You’ve still got to pay for going silent for five years.”

And with that, Tsukasa walked away.

Later That Night, Akito stole a key, and went to visit Rui. He entered the prison, heading straight for Rui’s cell. It wasn’t hard to locate it- he was the only one in jail, after all.

“Eh? Akito?”

“Look… I heard what you said today.”

Akito sighed, and opened the cell door, entering it.

“And.. honestly… man, why’s it so hard to do these kinds of things?!”

Rui jumped at the sudden change in volume, but quickly refocused.

“Look, I just… you know what, fuck it.”

Akito kissed Rui, hugging him while doing so. Rui, in return, Held Akito’s cheek and hip. He tasted amazing, like honey syrup. After a few moments, Akito disconnected their lips.

“Can we just… stay Like This, for a bit?”

“I’d love to stay like this forever.”

“Ahem.” Toya’s voice could be heard from the entrance of the room. He didn’t look very happy.

Toya walked up to the two, and grabbed Akito by the wrist, disconnecting them. He glared at the two.

“You mind telling me what’s going on? Why I just saw a knight kissing a criminal?! What would Tsukasa think, Akito?!? What would he think?!”

“Toya, calm down! What is wrong?! You’re not my dad, you can’t tell me what I can and can’t do!”

“Akito…” Toya slapped him, and pulled on his collar. “You don’t see what’s going on? This man has you wrapped around his finger like a goddamn ring!”

“Seems like someone is jealous~” Rui stated, before getting punched by the knight.

“Shut the hell up, blood sucking freak.”

“Toya! What the fuck?!” Akito pushed himself and Toya out of the cell, and locked it.

“You know it’s against the rules to show aggression to inmates!”

“Oh, so you can kiss him but I can’t punch him?!” Akito scoffed. “That was totally uncool, man. I’m heading to bed. Don’t hurt him any more.”

He glared at Toya before walking away, with Toya soon following after.

When he got into bed, Akito realized he couldn’t just let Rui stay there. Toya would hurt him… but what is he to do?

Then, he got an idea.

The next day, he stole another key. He went down to the prison.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Helping you escape.”

“… what?”

Akito opened up Rui’s cell, and motioned for him to get out.

“I promise I’ll wait for you. But don’t worry… this way, you’ll be safe.”

Inside the main hall, Toya and Tsukasa stood in conversation.

“… and then I walked in, and he was kissing the prisoner!!”

“… now, Toya, I agree that Akito shouldn’t have feelings for Rui, it didn’t give you the right to slap him. Akito wouldn’t do anything to help him anyways- he knows better than that.”

Their conversation was interrupted by Kanade’s soft voice..

“Uhm… Tsukasa? Toya? Rui escaped…”

Akito sat inside his room, waiting while Saki went through his clothes. He didn’t exactly remember why she was doing this, but he was too scared about Rui to care. Have Toya and Tsukasa found out?

“Are you ok, Aki? You haven’t been talking much..”

“I’ll be ok, Saki. Don’t worry.”

After a few moments of silence, the doors to Akito’s room opened. When Saki and Akito turned to the entrance, they saw a pissed off Toya, a disappointed Tsukasa, and a scared Kanade.

“Akito Shinonome, Where is Rui Kamishiro?” Toya almost growled, stomping towards Akito.“What are you accusing me of, Toya?”

“You know damn well what I’m accusing you of.”

Akito scoffed and laughed. “He won’t be hurt by you now, no?”

“Like damn he won’t.”

“W-wait,” Akito froze up. “What?”

Toya pushed Akito, and stormed out of the room. Akito chased after, demanding he be told what he was doing.

“I’m doing what I should have done long ago- killing that damn blood sucker!” Toya got a knife and raced out of the castle, leaving a breathless Akito behind to worry about everything.

Rui walked among the forest trees, peaceful yet scared. Would he ever see Akito again? Would he ever be able to see Tsukasa or Saki?

Rui leaned down by a nearby river and looked down. Where would he go? He didn’t really have a plan. What would he do? “Rui… where…”

Who was that? Toya? Rui quickly raced towards the noise. Hopefully Toya would understand. “Toya.. finally, someone..”

Toya, much to Rui’s surprise, dashed towards him, knife hand. He immediately aimed for his chest, but Rui was able to get out of the way in time. “Why..? What did I do?”

“You… you bloodsuckers! All you do is harm people!”

“Toya…”

Toya again tried to stab Rui, aiming this time for the stomach. He missed again.With the continuing attacks from Toya, Rui got pushed more and more towards a cliff. Rui got nervous, Toya almost got him five times.

“Toya! Please, don’t!”

“You’ll pay, your people will pay…!”

Toya thrusted his knife toward one more time, but lost balance, falling off the cliff. Rui watched as he tumbled down, his blue hair knocking against rocks and staining it red. “No… no way… no….”

Rui stood over the cliff, hyperventilating. What had he done… He backed up, he didn’t know what to do. He needed to go to someone. But who? Who would help him? He just… KILLED someone… would Akito help?Oh right! Akito! Rui turned into his bat form, and raced towards the castle. He must meet with Akito!

In with the castle, Akito hid in his room, scared. He held himself tightly. His hair was a mess. He had scratches on his knees from falling over from the stress.

“Rui.. why…”

Suddenly, Akito heard a knock on his window. He sniffled, and looked to see Rui by his window. He lept towards the window, opening it to let him in. “What happened? Toya just-“ Akito started, but was interrupted by a hug from Rui. Wait… was Rui crying?

“I did something bad, Akito… I did something bad..”

“What do you mean?”

“Just- nothing. Not right now.”

Akito didn’t question it. He just stayed there, hugging Rui. He wished they could stay like this forever, ignoring everyone else. Maybe then he’d be happy. But every time has to be ruined.

Squeeeeeak….

Kanade poked her head through the door. “Akito, did you see- Rui?”

“You’re oddly calm about this.”

“Who am I to stop you two? Anyways, have either of you seen Toya? He hasn’t been back for awhile, and Tsukasa is getting nervous…”

Rui’s eyes grew wide, and he bit his lips. He did know where he was. He knew very well.

“Ugh… why didn’t I just take the day off? Toya was right, I do need a break… who even is this Kamishiro guy, anyways?” A man walked through a forest, pushing branches out of the way as to not get them in his ginger hair. He grumbled, not wanting to be stuck out in the forest on a Saturday- isn’t that when you’re supposed to rest?

It was always like this, him not wanting to rest, then him paying the consequences. Tsukasa always made fun of him for that- constantly on the grind, as a knight should be. Wasn’t this Kamishiro guy near here?

This man was Akito Shinonome, a Young Knight. He was on the look out for a certain man, one named Rui Kamishiro. He didn’t remember much about what he was told about Kamishiro, just that he was dangerous and must be taken into custody.

Snap.

Akito turned to the noise, hand nearing his sword’s handle.

“Who’s there?!”

he saw some red hair underneath the leaves on the branches of the trees surrounding them. He wasn’t alone.

“Oh~ A knight?” The red hair moved into the light, showing a man. A very tall one.

“You’re-“

The man put his finger over Akito’s mouth.

“Shhh… you’re gonna ruin your cute look if you talk.”

“What?”

“You heard me, uhm… knight?”

“Yes, that happens to be my occupation.” Akito furrowed his eyebrows, getting irritated.

“Oh. How sad!” The man frowned, and started walking away.

“W-wait! You can’t just leave! You haven’t told me anything about you!” Akito grabbed the man’s wrist, pulling it towards him.

“My apologies. You may know me as…”

Akito’s eyes widened as he realized who he just grabbed. “… Rui Kamishiro.” The man laughed, and pulled Akito’s arm towards him.

He pulled him closer, and took his hand from his wrist to put it on his waist. Rui lifted Akito’s face up, almost colliding their lips with each other when..

“I’m afraid I can’t give you the satisfaction, sir~”

Rui then let go, and ran away, leaving Akito standing there, flabbergasted at what just happened before him. He touched his face, and realized it was all red. What had just happened..

Akito decided to just walk back to the palace. He didn’t need to worry about that person just now… sure, he was a criminal, but he was too tired to deal with him.

“Shinonome?”

Akito looked forward, and saw a tall man with blue hair. Well, two shades of blue. He remembered him well- his ex-boyfriend, Toya Aoyagi.

“Yo, Toya. You’ve been treating the prince well, yes?”

“He hasn’t been hurt yet.”

“That’s why you’re the best knight, of course.”

Akito and Toya laughed, and started walking into the palace more. Akito looked around, trying to find a certain person. Someone who had sent him out on this mission, someone who

Speak of the devil. Racing forward, a girl darted towards him. Suddenly, Akito felt an embrace against him. Ah yes, this was who had told him to go.

“You can let go now, Saki.”

“But can’t I hold on for a bit longer?”

Saki let go, and looked towards another room.

“I think I need to go feed.. my pet squirrel! And I need Aki’s help for it!”

Toya stood there, confused. Saki didn’t have a pet squirrel…

Akito chimed in, and was pulled by Saki into the room.

The room they entered happened to be a guest bedroom. Somewhere a squirrel most definitely wouldn’t be. Saki sat Akito on the bed, and stood up.

“So?? What happened?? Did you see him??”

Rui hadn’t seen outside of the prison for 3 days. Saki brought him water and food, but he hadn’t even seen Akito or Tsukasa at all. What did he do?

“… Akito talked to me about what happened.”

Tsukasa peered from the entrance to the prison, and glared at Rui.

“So… you got consent. But I also wanted to ask something…”

“Eh? What is it?”

Tsukasa motioned for Rui to come closer to him, and when he did, he grabbed him by the collar through the bars of the cage.

“Are you serious?! You really went for Akito to get to me?!? Rui Kamishiro, I thought better of you.”

“W-what?! Tsukasa, what do you mean?”

Rui looked around, debating calling for help. When he looked back down at Tsukasa, he was… crying?

“You bastard… you sly cat bastard! Someone finally treat me like a person, not some fucking god, then you go and act like it never happened?!” “Tsukasa… I Never thought it came off like that… I swear.”

“Swearing doesn’t save anything, Kamishiro! Just fucking tell me! Do you like him or not?!”

Rui gasped, not expecting the question. What would Tsukasa do if he said yes? Or no? He didn’t know how to answer.. how would he react?

By the entrance, Akito was listening in. And very closely. He covered his mouth when he heard Tsukasa say those words. What the hell, man?! You can’t just say those things!

“I…” Rui began to speak, and Akito leaned in to hear more.

“Yes, I do like him.”

Akito couldn’t think. He couldn’t believe it. Rui… likes him?

Tsukasa began to speak.

“Heh, I see now. Then… I guess it’s for the better, anyways. Don’t think this means I’m letting you out, though. You’ve still got to pay for going silent for five years.”

And with that, Tsukasa walked away.

Later That Night, Akito stole a key, and went to visit Rui. He entered the prison, heading straight for Rui’s cell. It wasn’t hard to locate it- he was the only one in jail, after all.

“Eh? Akito?”

“Look… I heard what you said today.”

Akito sighed, and opened the cell door, entering it.

“And.. honestly… man, why’s it so hard to do these kinds of things?!”

Rui jumped at the sudden change in volume, but quickly refocused.

“Look, I just… you know what, fuck it.”

Akito kissed Rui, hugging him while doing so. Rui, in return, Held Akito’s cheek and hip. He tasted amazing, like honey syrup. After a few moments, Akito disconnected their lips.

“Can we just… stay Like This, for a bit?”

“I’d love to stay like this forever.”

“Ahem.” Toya’s voice could be heard from the entrance of the room. He didn’t look very happy.

Toya walked up to the two, and grabbed Akito by the wrist, disconnecting them. He glared at the two.

“You mind telling me what’s going on? Why I just saw a knight kissing a criminal?! What would Tsukasa think, Akito?!? What would he think?!”

“Toya, calm down! What is wrong?! You’re not my dad, you can’t tell me what I can and can’t do!”

“Akito…” Toya slapped him, and pulled on his collar. “You don’t see what’s going on? This man has you wrapped around his finger like a goddamn ring!”

“Seems like someone is jealous~” Rui stated, before getting punched by the knight.

“Shut the hell up, blood sucking freak.”

“Toya! What the fuck?!” Akito pushed himself and Toya out of the cell, and locked it.

“You know it’s against the rules to show aggression to inmates!”

“Oh, so you can kiss him but I can’t punch him?!” Akito scoffed. “That was totally uncool, man. I’m heading to bed. Don’t hurt him any more.”

He glared at Toya before walking away, with Toya soon following after.

When he got into bed, Akito realized he couldn’t just let Rui stay there. Toya would hurt him… but what is he to do?

Then, he got an idea.

The next day, he stole another key. He went down to the prison.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Helping you escape.”

“… what?”

Akito opened up Rui’s cell, and motioned for him to get out.

“I promise I’ll wait for you. But don’t worry… this way, you’ll be safe.”

Inside the main hall, Toya and Tsukasa stood in conversation.

“… and then I walked in, and he was kissing the prisoner!!”

“… now, Toya, I agree that Akito shouldn’t have feelings for Rui, it didn’t give you the right to slap him. Akito wouldn’t do anything to help him anyways- he knows better than that.”

Their conversation was interrupted by Kanade’s soft voice..

“Uhm… Tsukasa? Toya? Rui escaped…”
