2024: Permanent semi-hiatus

Basically, shit’s fucked

I made a pinned post about this already but it was too gushy and personal to be appropriate as a pinned post so here’s the summary of where I’m at rn:

I still log into tumblr pretty often but I’m not coherent or emotionally available enough for the micro/blogging format to truly make sense for me anymore :( and while twitter’s death and the collapse of global society has changed most of the internet for the worse (actually the worst) I still don’t see this changing any time soon… but I still miss tumblr and my tumblr friends so I’ll try to log in and reblog fanart and funny posts and posts about our liberation and maybe I’ll write some posts too maybe…

I released music with a rlly cool UK bass/ebm label called Future Bounce earlier this year! EP is called Free Air and its a banger

And then a week or two ago i dropped a self-release as well, more emotional stuff on here but still good. Its basically telling a story of going to work watching the horrors of society and then trying to go to the club to escape the horrors but getting harassed at the club and then thinking about the horrors on your way home lol. but you wouldnt know this at all from the two sentences of text i posted with the release bc part of the story of the release is like, just critiquing and refusing to conflate escapism with resistance in general, or wanting to be intentional about it

Okay it turns out the reason i was not seeing any usernames anymore is because tumblr savior added an option to hide reblog headers and it turned itself on while i wasnt looking... serves me right for keeping around extensions from 2015. If this happened to you go look for that and make sure that isnt turned on

I would prefer if the headers could be more compact like they used to be but frankly being able to see them again is probably more important than anything else i could complain about at this juncture

A Year of Genocide

The Civil Defense Directorate in the Gaza Strip published statistics for the year of genocide on the Gaza Strip, which can be found in English and Arabic in the attached PDFs, or as a Flipbook here.

In the last year, 3,654 massacres were committed by the enemy, resulting in over 51,870 martyrs and missing people. 902 families were erased from the civil registry, and 36 were martyred by starvation. From these, 986 martyrs were medical staff, or about 1 in every 40 known martyr, 175 martyrs were journalists, and 85 are civil defense officers. 2,300 of these bodies were stolen by the IOF from 19 out of 60 cemeteries.

149,036 Gazans are either martyred, wounded, or missing, 69% of them children and women. 187 displacement shelters were targeted by the IOF, including 27 in the last two days.

462 schools and universities have been destroyed by the occupation, and 12,700 of the martyrs were students, while 750 of them were teachers, and 130 of them scientists and academics.

34 hospitals, 80 health centers, and 162 health centers were taken out of service, and 131 ambulances were targeted.

Out of 1,245 mosques, 815 of them were destroyed, in addition to three churches. 200,000 housing units were destroyed, using 85,000 tons of explosives, equivalent to six Hiroshima bombs.

3,130 km of electricity networks were destroyed, 330,000 meters of water networks, 655,000 meters of sewage networks, and 2,835,000 meters of road and street networks.

86% of the Gaza Strip has been destroyed.

for context almost the ENTIRE reason wordpress got so popular and developed such a massive ecosystem (which is the only good reason to ever use that dogshit software and the reason it’s so ubiquitous) is because people could not only use it but they were explicitly allowed to build businesses around selling hosting and plugins and shit like that. this meltdown is a MASSIVE chilling effect on the biggest driver of the wordpress ecosystem. and most of his complaints are rank hypocrisy because wordpress.com (which is NOT the wordpress open source project, aka wordpress.org, wordpress.com is mullenweg/automattic’s paid hosting service) gets massive special treatment to the point of being advertised in the fucking admin ui. you made your money off network effects and now you’re attacking the fucking network. he is genuinely maybe the dumbest executive of his level of prominence in the entire tech industry and that’s saying a LOT. he’s a fucking idiot who got stupendously lucky and thinks that means he’s a genius.
