In 53 days, I will be graduating college. I will walk across the stage at commencement and transition to my career. Most likely, I will be moving across the country away from everyone I know just to pursue my career. The next 53 days are more than the end to my college experience, but also the final days of being close in distance to the people and things I am most comfortable with. For my Time & Memory project, I am choosing to count down my final days here. Each photograph of the set will have the number representing how many days I had left at the time the picture was taken. I intend to include in the pictures things I will be doing for the last time, things I am crossing off my bucket list, or people and things I am going to miss. I may need to narrow that down for the final set of 5 photographs, but I’d like to keep it broad in the beginning. It is not intended to be a self portrait project, but I may choose to include myself in some pictures of the set. Although this project will only span the time period of a couple weeks (days 53 through 41) I would consider expanding it beyond the project digitally to keep a collection of memories for myself.
I’ve included some scenes that I would like to capture for this project. Each would also include the day count somehow incorporated into the picture. I intend to include more people overall that what I’ve included here.
An additional process I am considering is to take each picture without any day count included. Then, during development, expose the paper to either have a burn or dodge of the outline of the intended day count on top of the scene.
