Shortcuts to determine if an integer is divisible by:

This is a given.

If the last digit is divisible by 2 (a.k.a. even), then so is the whole number.

If the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then so is the whole number. The recursivity of this means that if the sum has multiple digits, you can add them up again until you get a single digit and see if it's 3, 6, or 9.

Like the rule for 2, but check if the last two digits are divisible by 4.

If it ends in 5 or 0.

If the rules for both 2 and 3 apply.

No shortcut. Alas.

Like the rules for 2 and 4, but check if the last three digits are divisible by 8. (Yes, this pattern keeps going for 16, 32, etc.)

Like the rule for 3, but the sum of the digits (or the sum of the sum of the digits, etc.) must be 9.

Okay, so, basically, you remove the least important digit of the number (which is the first digit from the right), you double it, and then subtract it from the remaining number. If the number you get is still large, you do it again.

For example, 294

29 4

4×2=8

29-8=21

21 is divisible by 7

Second example, 1946

194 6

6×2=12

194-12=182

182 is still large, so let do it again

18 2

2×2=4

18-4=14

14 is divisible by 7

We finally have a release date for our 17776 Alternate Universe, 1ost&f0und! (aka 1&0)

We've been working on this for over two months at this point, and there have been tons of planning and discussions and writing sessions, but I am happy to announce that the prologue and the first chapter will be released on Friday, August 7th on my AO3!

I'm so excited to share this with you all, it's been so fun planning for it and writing it. We don't currently have a set update schedule, but chapters are being written in advance so we hope it can be regular.

1ost&f0und follows our three favorite probes as they wake up in human bodies across the United States. As they journey to find each other again, they each must learn what it means to be human, become something that they've only ever watched from above, and accept that sometimes you just have to learn to live.

I've also created a strawpage dedicated to the AU, where you can find information about the characters and storyline as well as ask questions and see when the next chapter will be released. You can find it here! (will be updated as we go along!)

Great dialogue can come from radical emotional honesty. But in most real conversations, people

dodge questions

answer indirectly

lie (badly)

change the subject

crack jokes to avoid serious answers

lie (convincingly)

say half of what they mean

tell the truth but get so anxious/angry/defensive others now think they're lying

If your dialogue feels unnatural, it might be because everyone is saying exactly what they think, or articulating their thoughts too well. Try letting characters hide things instead.

Subtext is where tension lives.
