Don’t give up on the person you’re becoming

a gentle reminder that you just need to make things a tiny bit better for your future self. reading one page, writing one sentence, getting half of a task done, it’s still good.

I did the being edgy and self-deprecating thing, it gets old. I wanna be soft and lovely and easily impressed. I wanna appreciate all the little things that make me happy the same way I’ve dwelled on every single thing that upsets me.

growth isn’t always constant. relapses happen. it doesn’t erase all your success.

over coffee with my mom this morning: “sometimes we hesitate to invite people into our life because we feel like our space isn’t good enough yet. things are a little messy, or our place settings don’t match, or our situation isn’t quite what we want it to be. don’t let that stop you. invite people in anyway.”

I hope you have the confidence to be you and courage to pursue what you want with no regrets. I hope you genuinely smile and laugh, with or without a reason. I hope you keep learning and keep growing as a human being. I hope you keep pushing forward. I hope you achieve or continue to retain inner peace, and I hope you love yourself for all that you are and all that you are becoming.

know what I hate? how uni’s have all of these “de-stress events” and preaching about mental health around exams but don’t actual want to fucking do anything about the shitty system of education they’ve created that literally makes kids have anxiety attacks and suicidal thoughts. yes education should be challenging, but it should not compromise your wellbeing for it. it’s like saying “yeah we realize the system is horrible, but here have free hot chocolate, it’ll make everything better”. the education system is flawed and broken and they know it, but they could care less.
