Let us just appreciate that this person’s dad didn’t know when they would be home and so he couldn’t plan for them to be able to join the family for dinner, but he knew with no doubts that dear sweet Meatloaf staying in that exact position for hours was an absolute in this scenario. Truly, that cat was named well.

Everyone is the hero and villain in their own story...along with the damsel in distress. All of us. If we realize that alot of the things we worry about are caused by insecurity and fear of what is the most unknown; The Future. All the unknowns are created by how we are now. By worrying on things that may or may not be can well ahead and come into being by giving it the power of fear, by feeding it. something that my not or was not. Dwelling on the negative only contributes to its power.
While cleaning out my room I found a paper that my therapist gave me some time ago to deal with obsessive and intrusive thoughts. Sorry the paper is a little crinkled and stained, but I figured I’d post it in hopes that it will help someone like it helped me.

That thought isn’t helpful right now.
Now is not the time to think about it. I can think about it later.
This is irrational. I’m going to let it go.
I won’t argue with an irrational thought.
This is not an emergency. I can slow down and think clearly about what I need.
This feels threatening and urgent, but it really isn’t.
I don’t have to be perfect to be OK.
I don’t have to figure out this question. The best thing to do is just drop it.
It’s OK to make mistakes.
I already know from my past experiences that these fears are irrational.
I have to take risks in order to be free. I’m willing to take this risk.
It’s OK that I just had that thought/image, and it doesn’t mean anything. I don’t have to pay attention to it.
I’m ready to move on now.
I can handle being wrong.
I don’t have to suffer like this. I deserve to feel comfortable.
That’s not my responsibility.
That’s not my problem.
I’ve done the best I can.
It’s good practice to let go of this worry. I want to practice.

I wish people talked more about casual traumas. Like spending your entire childhood and teenhood “friends” with people who either made it clear they were using you or left you the second you showed emotional vulnerability and an expectation of mutual support, and never being able to trust or be open with anyone you’re close to ever again as a result. Having flashbacks to the moments when everyone you trusted gave up on you every time you misread what your current friends are saying to you, which is often because you’re suspicious of everything. Leaving your friends first because you believe them leaving is an inevitability so you hurt yourself before they can and you can hate them for it, then realizing once it’s too late that there was no reason to and hating yourself instead.
