Every* time Vash fires (and reloads) his gun in Trigun Stampede season 1

I only counted 36 shots.

26 of those are from the final episode.

Of the 10 from the first three episodes, 7 (Vash’s clip size) are fired against Knives in episode 3.

He doesn’t fire a single bullet between episodes 3 and 12.

I found this completely fascinating. What first got me thinking about it was episode 12, because Vash fires his gun so many times that it makes you realize just how little he fires his gun in general. Vash unloading an entire clip catches you off guard. He is vastly more likely to use the gun as a blunt force weapon or shield, or simply resort to hand-to-hand combat. Yet you never doubt for a second his godly ability as a gunman. He only ever pulls that trigger when he really, truly means to.
