“Five Yen” Inspired by the work of @peter_andrew_lusztyk by way of @petermckinnon , i decided to try my hand at Macro Photography with this 5 yen coin from my trip to Tokyo in 2017. This coin design features the “new script” debuted in 1959 which denominates the value of the coin amidst an rice plant growing out of water and a gear around the center. Now I am obsessed with finding what else I can photograph up close with wildly interesting details. Any ideas? Went too dark on the first edit, i like this one much better. No matter how many times I stand in front of any basketball hoop, I will always remember the lessons the sport taught me and those who spent time teaching me how to play the game. To name a few, my dad, my cousin Anthony, Coach Fox from my Mannheim Middle School days, and more recently @habib87 & @eeeman2 . Memories of hard work put in on those court lines and faded dreams of playing competitively remind me that you really do change so much from childhood to adulthood. What has stayed with me though are my core values, those partially instilled in me through sports and coaches. What I love about going on walks and making photos is how meditative it is for me. I feel hyper aware of my surroundings and am locked into every one of my senses while composing. When it’s just me, the hoop, and the basketball, there is just an overwhelming sense of gratefulness for people i’ve had in my life that have guided me. Thanks for all the support thus far!
