Lol I think people need to remember that even your favorite "reality" shows lie to you all the time
In Game Changer: Noise Some Makes, Kaylin Mahoney was hired to act as a PA. She is not actually a PA. People have different contracts when you are an on-camera talent rather than helping run the show.
Phil from Dont Wake Standards and Practices was a paid actor pretending to be a random guy on the street.
Please remember even your favorite most special TV shows are lying to you for the funzies! That's their job!
Okay, so while I won't touch on the Phil stuff (since there isn't really proof for either side other than the legality of it all, and even that's not fully solid proof since, according the BTS video, the fact that it was an episode commenting about what could and/or couldn't be shown on air meant that Dropout's actual lawyer team was more lenient than usual), in regards to Kaylin...
While her first appearance was as a fake PA, it does seem like she went on to become an actual PA for the series (as seen here in the BTS for the original Crowd Control episode:
So, while I do think that her being a comedian was a factor on why they chose her specifically for this episode and that she could have been exaggerating her reactions for laughs, it does seem likely that she though she was only coming in for PA work and was legitimately caught off guard by getting dragged into the game.
Now, just to be clear, I do agree with your overall point about not taking everything you here from your favorite shows for granted. I just also think that, if one has doubts about a show's claims, they should probably double check stuff before throwing out accusations.
