the elliot fic youβre considering writing seems a lot like a fic of mine that you asked to be tagged in, the same one that i posted 5 days before you made that poll with incredibly similar tropes that youβd never used before. now i could be wrong but itβs looking like you stole my idea
hello! i just reread my drabble and ur fic and the thing i commented. i definitely see the similarities in ur teaser and my drabble but when it comes to the actual fic and what i have planned, it is not the same. i tend to keep my drabbles and teasers brief to avoid spoilers because i feel like that ruins the story, but in doing that, i realized i summarized it into something that looks extremely familiar to your work, so for that i am truly sorry!!! in the drabble i say that reader attempts to buy from fez but gets denied, when in yours the reader buys from fez before switching to elliot. i recognize this similarity, in the teaser i sumed it up to that because i wanted to keep the scene i would write out surprising and humorous. what was left out of the summary was the fact i am planning on incorporating both the season 1 rue incident with fent when she attempts buying from fez and parts of the season 2 where people come in while fez is refusing to sell to fez, causing rue to sneak out. reader then vents to lexie about this. in your fic you specify reader is friends with lexie which is another similarity that can lead you to believe i am plagiarizing your idea, but i decided on lexie being her best friend because lexie is often described as a loner who strays away from what other main characters do (substances and sleeping around) and being extremely judgmental over their choices, which is what i picture my reader as. a huge similarity i am shocked i didnβt recognize while writing out is our descriptions of the trope. i loosely described reader hating elliot for his lifestyle and elliot hating reader for being stuck up, which is very close to your description of them. but i assure you, it is not be executed in the same manner. your reader has the perfect girl front to keep away peoples opinions from what she actually does and who she really is while mine is genuinely a sheltered stuck up bitch that can easily be described as the βnunsβ elliot mentions while be interrogated. my reader is supposed to be considered annoying because her attitude isnt a front, she genuinely believes she is better than everyone else and refuses to understand that people have backstories that lead to living certain lives just because she was blessed enough to live a simple life. because of this, people oftentimes dislike her, including elliot, which leads to her wanting to try drugs to prove she isnt the βnunβ people describe her as. in your fic, the two instantly have a sense of equal attraction amongst each other, with elliot often flirting with reader. i donβt want the term enemies (or rivals) to lovers to fall flat, elliot genuinely hates or atleast severely dislikes the reader because of her attitude and there is no hint of attraction until after reader starts to change her appearance and inturn become what rue tells her is elliots type. it is supposed to represent a commonly used trope in films (specifically in the 2000s-2010s) which is a innocent reader corrupting herself to fit in while also her slowly realizing that not everyone gets to live the privileged life she does. it was my own error to try and summarize it as much as possible and leaving out important details listed that really create all the difference in the works, and i fully understand and apologize for you thinking i was copying you based off the lazy description i gave of my upcoming fic.
