As a first born daughter, I have had c ptsd since I was about 10.

As a fat girl in the ninties/aughts I had such terrible body image that im still recovering from that trauma.

As a college student with undiagnosed adhd I had a very very rough time and it led to very not great coping skills.

As a woman whose been sexual assaulted by strangers and acquaintances, it took a while to deal with that trauma.

As a person that has gone through multiple pregnancies and births, that shit is trauma and it rewrites your brain.

As someone who saw "trump that bitch" bumper stickers in 2016, I dont think I'll ever recover how much its okay just to hate women.

But sure. Its my female hOrMoNeS that are causing the trauma that creates ptsd. I havent been in active warfare, im just a white middle aged suburban woman, and im not fucking shocked there's a higher incidence of PTSD in women.

And p.s. ptsd isnt just about the depth of the trauma, its about the response to it and recovery from it. I regularly experienced a kind of domestic violence as a kid, and I was told to suck it up. The sucking it up led to the c ptsd, not the actual event.

can we please please please learn to differentiate between things that are good but devalued because of their association with women (caring for children, being compassionate), things that are neutral but seen negatively because of their association with women (the colour pink, having long hair), and things that are bad but associated with women because of misogyny (being materialistic, being stupid) because otherwise we’re gonna keep getting takes like “being gender nonconforming is anti feminist” and “not studying for your classes is feminist”

#some of you need to truly internalize that gender is a construct #and you need to look at and understand if there is a reason that thing is associated with that gender and why #children and women - obvious right? but historically its led to men on average not being active parents #and this benefits no one: kids mias their dads women need help and dads deserve to have the full experience of being a parent #this is a very cis coded take BUT birth giving parents -regardless of gender-typivallt have a larger role in child rearing and homemaking
