في الـ ٢٥ من آذار عام ٢٠٢١ ودعتنا والدتنا اثر جلطة دماغية. رحلت خلال ثلاثة ايام. كنا انا واخي الاصغر عبدالله مع امي ليلة وفاتها... بدأت انفاسها تبطأ الساع ٤:١٥ صباحاً، فتناوبنا على قراءة الادعية من دفترها الخاص الذي كتبت في ادعية عديدة بخط يدها. وخلال هذه الاثناء مسكت بيدي هاتفي الجوال على سورة الفجر لكني لم استطع ان اقرأها.. لم يحن الوقت لوداعها... بع عدة دقائق جاءني احساس بأن اللحظة قريبة... مسكت رأس امي ويدها التي لم ادعها طول الليل، وقلت لها "ميخالف ماما، لاتديرين بال.. احنة زينين و بابا زين وراح اندير بالنه عليه... روحي وسلميلي على خالو مؤيد وخالد عدنان ونانا وجدو وگليلهم مشتاقيلهم" نزلت دمعة من عينها... فقرأت: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم (( يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ارْجِعِي إِلَى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي )) صدق الله العظيم. وعند انتهائي من الآية لفظت انفاسها الاخيرة وانتقلت الى جوال ربها (٤:٥٨صباحاً) امي... ذهبتِ سريعاً ومبكراً... سنشتاق لك.. —————— أمي... ياأول حرف ناغه القصيدة... و شال روحي للدنية الجديدة... بكل هداوة... بكل نداوة... و طبع فوگ شفافي سالفة عمري الجديدة... ماما... ياعين المحنة... اللمّت اعلة سنيني غيمة من الدمع.. أمي... ياخيط الذهب البيه ظلت هايمة خيوط الشمع أمي... ياصورة منامي... أمي... ياهمسة عشگ وضّت غرامي... أمي... ياصفنة بحر من تستريح تشعل حروف الحچي بموگد كلامي.. أمي... ياسكته وحچي امي ياضحكة وبچي أمي... يوسادة ظهر كل السنين إتطيح حتة آنا أنتچي أمي... ياسبحة صلاتي.. أمي... ياجنة حياتي أمي... ياچف المودة.. البيه اأمّن كل شتاتي ....وذكرياتي وكلشي ماضي ...وكلشي آتي أمي... ياأروع صبر بيه العمر ظل دوم دافي أمي... ياحرفين روحي بغيرهن انسة الحچي يمّة... ياصورة منامي ماما.. ياهمسة عشگ وضّت غرامي (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNDhnnsnyvo/?igshid=c6pcmyilwfik

On March 25th 2021 we lost our mother to a brain stroke. It happened so fast, she was gone with in 3 days. She was 77yo healthy and strong. She was the strongest women I’ve ever known. She always put us ahead of herself, took care of us and loved us unconditionally. My brother Abdullah (Dee) and I stayed with her in the hospital that night. At 4:15am he breathing started becoming irregular, we knew that was it... we held her hands and prayed for her... the whole time I had the goodbye prayers (a versus from the Quran) in my hand, but I couldn’t bring myself to read it... I wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet... then I felt it... the time was now to let her go, I told her “Mom, it’s ok.. you can go now, we are safe, dad is well and safe and we will take care of him. Say Hi to my uncles, grandpa and Nana, and tell them that we miss them” at that moment a tear came down from her right eye, I red the Qura’n versus (O satisfied soul, return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. Join My worshipers and enter My Paradise!) and when I was done, she’s stoped breathing (4:58am) Mom, you left us too soon and too quick. You’ll be missed greatly. ——- My mother... Oh the first letter that my poem sang... And carried my spirit to the world... With calmness.. with tenderness.. And printed my new life story on my lips... Mama... Oh the eye of affection... That gather a cloud of tears over me. Mother... You thread of gold That made the candles jealous Mother... Oh all the pictures in my dreams... Mother... The whisper that ignited my love... Mother... You are the gaze when it’s resting You ignited the letters in my words.. Mother... My silence and my voice.. My laughter and my cries.. Mother... You were my support through out the years... You fall to keep me standing.. Mother... Oh my prayer beads.. Mother... The heaven of my life Mother... Oh the hands of affection.. That keep me safe... Kept my memories safe... I grew up in a Man-Dominant culture, way more than Europe and North America, but at the same time I was raised by a mother who fought most her life for women rights in country that didn’t have any rights. When the #metoomovment came to live, I was shocked how oblivious I was to the fact that all the women in my life said #metoo to the point that made me question myself and think back to who and how I was before that moment, and forced myself to unlearn and relearn, rethink my position towards women, recognize their struggles and most importantly speak up and stand behind them. And now this... Yes, there are #toomanymen that take advantage, harass and think less of women. Stop fighting it and saying “not all men” that might be true but by doing so you are just putting yourself in the guilty list. It’s not about you, because it’s always been about you. Now it’s time for you to BE A MAN and stand behind your mother, sister, wife, gf, partner, daughter and friend, stand behind the nice old lady lives across the street, stand behind all women because it’s about them; and us as REAL MEN we need to stand up and say ENOUGH to the majority of men who think it’s normal to look down on women. I say for all the women in my life, my Mom, my 2 sisters, my Wife, my daughter, my sisters in law, my mother in law, my cousins, my 2 nieces, my aunts, my friends, my acquaintances... and even the women that I don’t know.
