"What the-?! BANDAID?!"
As usual that sneaky medikit managed to get into his room unheard, Whirl simply scrolling through a datapad bored.
Or at least he was until a little gremlin decided to pull his helm to the side and smack a big ol' smooch on.
Which made Whirl throw the Datapad to the next wall with a shout.
@medikitontour
She was on a secret mission! To liberate her new home! Or, AKA Whirls oven. And she had sought out ways to make Whirl give up the treasure cove of warmth!
Jaha! She had done her researched and even saw some of the evidence in the hallways and the other rooms! It seemed to work! Just sneak up, press lips of bot one to lips of bot two and make them submit through sheer... will... or pressure... or whatever, she was’nt quite sure about that part of her plan but she was sure it would come to her when she was doing it.
So here she was, letting herself fall from the ceiling vent and landing beside Whirl, latching onto his helm and starting her attack! He would submit!!! The Oven was hers!!!!!!

Beachcomber sighed, sinking into the hot springs and flaring out his armor to let the geothermal heat seep into his protoform. It was nice to get away from it all, he mused as he counted the types of rock formations he could see and tapped out a steady beat with his thumb and middle finger. Eventually, he'd have to go back and report for duty, but not yet.
"Well, maybe if they find some extra plating, they can give you a lil upgrade," Beachcomber offered. He laughed at the idea of a stalag-unicron. "I think you can learn anything you put your mind to. And thank you, Miss Bandaid. You must be quite the tracker to have found me all the way down here."
“Yeah... A good Tracker.” she had been lost like nobots business, clmabering about and looking at everything she could get her spindly thin digits on at that point, not scared but a bit worried after a few hours of only rocks and metal hallways.
“Maybe... Maybe you can teach me a bit about the stones? and the different kinds of -mites? It sounds interesting... And maybe... Maybe i will need it when Mr Wheeljack blows himself, the lab and the stones around him up to kingdom come?” she peeks at him, hopefully poking some of his plating.
Beachcomber chuckled. "Course I can teach you! Now, we live in a stratovolcano. The humans have done some good work mapping the different minerals and such present in our lil mountain and the most common ones they found are these," he said, pointing to different deposits within the cave itself as he listed them off, "albite, quartz, anorthite, orthoclase, magnetite, enstatite, ferrosilite, ilmenite, diopside, hedenbergite, and apatite. The mountain itself is mostly made of layers of lava rock, ash, pumice, basalt, and andesite. And there's a whole bit of outside - have you been outside yet? - from the door to the lake called the Pumice Plain. That's actually pretty new, on account of it was made in the eruption that woke us all up. Can you guess what it's mostly made up of?"
She blinks, her optics getting brighter and brighter, her mouth falling open to show the soft and small kitten teeth inside her mouth. If she wasn’t holding onto the mech right now, she would surely be falling over at that information overload. “Wha.... That is a lot... to take in.. And you know that just so?” she asks in wonderment, audial fins sweeping upwards and flip-flopping there.
“Ehm.... its made... its made up off the things the volcano swallowed all those times?” she dares to speak up, feeling very stupid as she answers. But she wants to learn! “I was not outside yet.. Mr Ratchet and Mr Perceptor said not to just yet because there are evil flies out there that could snatch me away, because im so small. But I don’t understand that. I saw those organic flies and they are much smaller than me.” she shrugs her shoulders.
"I was programmed to know it all," Beachcomber said and then laughed.
"Just so, Miss Bandaid, just so. You may have some things to teach me, I reckon. And now it's all turned into pumice, which is how it got its name."
He sobered at the reminder of the war. "I think they may have meant to say evil fliers instead of evil flies. And they're not that bad when you consider why they started fighting in the first place. But we are at war, and they're right that it's probably not safe for you at the moment."
“So your role as the lovable ‘Know-it-all’ was always destined to be yours?” she giggles, purple optics happily staring at the bigger mech. She is more relaxed than the whole time out of medbay. This was really fun for her! “Really? Its correct? YAY!” she cheers, coming to her pedes quickly to jump around in victory! “I got it right! I can learn!” she jumps in a circle, pedes slip-sliding on the wet earthen ground.
“Why? Why did the war start? And why is everyone mean to each other? So there was a time before the war? What was it like? Was it good? Were there more bots as small as me?” her words flow like a waterfall as she darts back to him. Unfortunatuly her pede slips and the small one tumbles.
Beachcomber reaches out to catch and steady her, but he's no longer smiling or laughing. "It was absolutely awful before the war.
Now you'll learn more about all this in time, Miss Bandaid, but the most important thing to remember is that people like Optimus weren't always in charge. And, well, the people that were in charge did a lot of terrible things to everyone. And the Decepticons may want to conquer the universe, but so much more than that, they just never want anybody to be able to do terrible things to them like that again. Does that make sense to you, lil one?"
She hadn’t wanted the mood to dip into another direction like this! She hadn’t wanted to make the mech all sad! “Im sorry for asking Mr Beachcomber.” she murmurs softly, weaseling her way into his arms and flush against his plating. She clicks comfortingly, one servo steadily stroking one of those arms.
“I... I do not understand to be honest. All I ever heard was to be careful and that the Decepticons were mean to small ones like me and the organics. Why..” she breaks the question off, falling silent. If thinking about it made Beachcomber sad, then more questions would only make him sadder, right? “Can we talk about lava eating stones and speweing them back out again? You were happy then.” She nuzzles her helm right against his neck.

"Oh, thousands or hundreds of thousands of years," Beachcomber answered. "It's a very long time to the humans who live here, but not nearly so long to us." He smiled at her. "Why, thank you, Miss Bandaid."
He reaches out to comfort her. "It was, it was very mean. Don't you worry, though, Optimus Prime put a stop to all that. He knows it's not important what gets done best and how, it's important that people love what they do. You can give someone all the knowledge in the world and it won't make up an ounce of passion.
"So now I do get to be a geologist like I always wanted, I just never went to school like some of the more learned types, so I'm still catching up a bit. Don't worry, now the only person who can decide you don't get to be what you want is you."
“So long?” she chirp-whistles, impressed at the number he has just told her. Thousands and more of years. And here she was online for barely more than a month. Shaking her helm she settles into the warm mechs side without much thought, her audials ringing over the information she is getting from Beachcomber. “Im.. I am barely a month old...” she whispers, as if it is the biggest secret she has to share until now.
“Optimus Prime? Is that the big one with the funny looking helm? Like one of those Lego figures Spike sometimes talks about?” she leans trustingly into the mechs side, chirping in content at the contact. Curse Wheeljack and the need to build her a cuddly personality.
“And he made it better? But how can one mech make it all better? And when was this? You don’t look too old to me, definetly younger than old Greasefingers.” her laughter echoes through the underground cavern.
Beachcomber laughed, wrapping an arm around the cuddly lil newbuild. "Yeah, Optimus is the big red and blue fella. And he made it better cause he's the one in charge - not just of the Autobots, but of all of Cybertron. All the other people in charge, they were just the meanest, but Optimus told them to knock that off, if you know what I mean."
He chuckled. "Oh, this was about eight or nine million years ago, and yes, I was alive back then - though I wasn't an Autobot yet - but no, I'm not that old. Not like the ol Hatchet," he teased. "What you will learn, young Miss Bandaid, is that our race is extremely long-lived. Eons will go by, and we will still be here, long as there's energon."
She dramatically flops over, her purple optics squinting in amusement. “Well, he is one big bot, I can tell you that. But then here I am, barely reaching 8′ because Mr Wheeljack blew up the other plating they were gonna use for me and Ratchet needed someone with smaller digits.” she grumbles goodnaturedly up at Beachcomber.
“So oold??” she squeaks, rolling over and nearly landing in the water if it werent for some fast scrambling on her own part, clinging to Beachcombers plating like a fungus. “Isn’t that terrible boring? Haven’t you learned everything after such a long time?” She giggles. “Yeah, old Greasefingers is just ancient, right? But he can be a right... sweet... sweetsp-- Sweetling.”
"Hey, now, eight feet's not a bad size to be. I'm only half again that myself." He chuckled to himself. "Ol Greasefingers, gonna have to tell that to everyone, they'll get a right kick of it. And believe me, there's so much I don't know yet! People are always discovering new things, and then you get to learn about them. Everything in the universe changes, and we stay the same and we get to keep on learning about all the changes that happen."
“But you are still taller, and if what you just told me is true, im gonna stay the same size, forever! How is that fair? Did you see the Dinobots? Now that are giants and sliding down Grimlocks tail or getting carried by Swoop is awesome, but i really wish i was just a little bit taller.” She huffs, her plating fluffing up like a tiny baby chickens fluff.
“You think I can learn more? I think what you told me about the Stalagtimites was very impressive and I really can’t imagine that they took so very long to grow” Imagine falling asleep under one and then waking up to become a Stalag-Unicorn!” she chirr clicks in laughter again.
“You are totally nice Mr Beachcomber. This is so good. And I even found the warm water because I followed your traces!” She had not been lost, what were you even thinking about?

She is madly dashing around to evade the water splashes the bigger and older mech makes, only partially successfull in that. Screeching a laugh again she tries to duck under a big onem only to slip and tumble to her knees, getting the splashing wave all over her frame.
Spluttering to expel the liquid in her mouth, she playfully glares at Beachcomber, looking like a bedraggled wet kitten.
He knows he shouldn't, but he can't help but chuckle. "Alright, lil one, I'm thinking that's enough of that for now. Come clear your vents, water don't belong in there."
Hoping to redirect her attention, he points around the cave. "Say, do you see those pointy bits all around? Those are called stalagmites and stalactites. The humans are pretty clever, I think, cause they called the ones that come out the ground stalagmites, and the ones that come out the ceiling stalactites. Isn't that nice of them, making it easy for us like that?"
Coughing up some more of the warm liquid she slowly walks around the basin of rock, coming closer and in arms reach to Beachcomber, shaking her appendages to hopefully get rid of some more water. She is leaving quite a trail behind her.
Plopping on the dry ground beside the mech, she follows his digits, blinking at the strange stone things. “They look... different? More .. whitish? Is that normal? But its nice to know what those stone things are called! But aren’t they the same thing from their make up? Why different names?” she chirps quietly to Beachcomber, tilting her helm.
“And how do you know all that Mr. Beachcomber?”
"Yeah, that's normal," Beachcomber answered, nodding slowly. "That's cause they're made of minerals. You see, once upon a time, there was water up on the ceiling there, and little drops of water would fall and drop down here. But the minerals in the water wouldn't always stay in it. If they got left up there on the ceiling, that's what made stalactites. If they stayed in the water and got down to the floor, that's what made stalagmites. If the water kept on dripping down over a long course of time, that's when you get pillars like that one over there." He pointed to the rock formation question. "That used to be a stalactite and a stalagmite, but they got so tall and long that now they're the same big thing."
He smiled at her curiosity. "And well, they probably have different names so sciencey types like Wheeljack and Skyfire and all can know what's being talked about in their fancy papers if they've never been to the cave they're talking about."
His smile turned sad. "I knew all this from the moment I first came online. I was supposed to be a geologist, you see. But the folks in charge decided scanners and machines and all could do the job better than me and other similar mechs, so... I had to get a different job."
She is listening avidly, crawling closer until she sits right beside him, watching him talk and explain to her about the mysteries of the strange molecule and mineral stones. She nods along, finding the way he explains it very much informative and calming.
“Wow... And how long does it take? For them to grow so large? Or long? I can only see some drops of water falling...” she muses aloud, scratching her cream and purple colored helm. “You explained that really well, Mr Beachcomber.” she says, smiling brightly at him. Only for that smile to dim down again at his next words.
“But... But if you got onlined to be a geologist, why should you do something else? You were onlined with a purpose, isnt that... mean? bad?” she whispers, shifting in place, not quite sure where to look.
She is nearly afraid to ask. “What... What are you doing now, then?” If they would deem her obsolete, would she just land on a scrappile then? Too small to work for anything else? She shivers.

Bandaids shift had ended a few hours ago and the newly created Medikit on legs was exploring the Ark and the areas beneath and above it. Inside the metal ship she could hold her temperature so she only had a quick look above it, now wandering deeper under the earthen crust.
She must have wandered around for at least an hour before her audials flicked upwards, her purple optics widening. There was a sound coming from around the bend! She scuttles closer, trying to be mostly silent, but failing miserably. She peeks over an edge, seeing steam first and clicking in astonishement. This was... warm and beautiful!
Beachcomber looked over at the sound of clicking and grinned at the small medikit. "Well, hello," he drawled. "Don't reckon I've seen you around here before. My friends all call me 'Comber. And who might you be, lil one?"
Her gaze strays instantly down the the mech abthing in the steaming liquid, her thin plating flaring upwards like a scared earthen avian! But she knows better than to run away, she would surely loose herself in the hallways down here! And.. he seemed nice. Not to say that she had met a bad or rude mech before. Ratchet had only been very grumpy but not mean.
So she creeps forward, right to the edge of the ground, where it changes into the steaming water. “Im.. My Designaton is Bandaid. Im a new helper in the medbay.” she chirps carefully but happily at the other mech. “I got built not long ago.”
"A newbuild?" Beachcomber asked, pleasantly surprised. He smiled at her. "Well, welcome to the world, Miss Bandaid. I hope it stays ever kind to you." He vented out deeply, rippling the surface of the water. "Water's warm, if you wanna hop in. I find it's real nice, some relaxation at the end of the day."
“Thank you Mr Comber.” she speaks again, purple optics alight in glee at being able to talk with someone, finally! “Yeah. Mr Perceptor and Mr Wheeljack build me. Mr Ratchet said that he was happy I did not explode along the way or had an explosive personality. Whatever that is.” she murmurs the last part in thought.
She darts around the stone pool, clickling excitedly as she sinks to her knees not far from Beachcomber, reaching out with a dainty servo to playfully pat at the water. It felt so strange! But warm! Shriek-clicking laughter escapes her as she pats it again, splashing droplets everywhere. She seems to remember Beachcomber then, reigning herself in as she looks over. “Sorry.”
Beachcomber chuckled at the newbuild's words and antics, flinching just slightly when the water splattered on his plating.
He shook his head at her apology, grinning playfully as he gently splashed her. "Oh, I'll get you now, lil one!"
Shes frozen for a precious few seconds, water droplets running down her arm and leaving traces of bubbly warmth.
And then shes off like a shot, scuttling over stones to seek shelter from the mech, a position from which she can Splash back!
While running, she stomps her pede in the water to make waves that should Splash the older mech.
She never Stops laughing.
