Meaningful Makeup

The Sweet Peach Palette by Too Faced. This palette came out back in 2016 so I have it for quite a while. Since I haven’t noticed any change in the quality of the shadows and it doesn’t create any reactions on my skin, I am still using it. As you can see, I’ve quite the progress. I have completely emptied 3 of the 18 shades. I have hit pan in 6 other shades. Some of these shadows may look a little strange and that's because I have repressed a couple of them. (check out my post on repressing eyeshadows on my page!) Right now the shades I am focusing on are Puree, Cobbler, and Charmed I’m Sure. I can tell I’m very close to hitting pan in these shades and I am so excited to finally reach it. However, while I have been focusing on those shades, I am still using others here and there to get some other progress in, specifically in shades I think would be hard for me to use completely. The two green shades, Bless Her Heart and Tempting I don’t think had been touched until this year. Talk Derby To Me will also be difficult since it is so dark and a different texture than the other shades. To me, it seems more chalky, which I think is due to the sparkles/glitter in the pigment. I am really hoping to finish up Georgia completely very soon as I have been wearing it almost every day too. It is very powdery so it is diminishing very quickly. 

I am panning this palette for two main reasons. The first is because it is ANCIENT. I need to get this palette gone. The second being because of Too Faced’s actions in the past as a company. I really can’t get behind an owner who doesn’t condemn transphobia. I also can’t get behind a brand that disrespects the people they work with. I think everyone should be treated fairly and both of these attacks make me feel uncomfortable purchasing from this brand. 

Makeup panning! A whole subsection of the makeup community. A Google search will explain that at the base level, panning is when someone using a product reaches the shiny, silver pan beneath their product. Obviously this takes a lot of dedication to that one product with continuous use over a long stretch of time. 

Why Pan? People pan for a couple different reasons. Some are more strict about it than others, who insist on only using that product until you have completely emptied or they have hit pan in every single shade and product. For me, I use panning when I feel it is important. For example, right now I am working on a palette from a brand that has done some really shitty things. I really want to get this product out of my collection and no longer support that brand. I don’t want to waste my product for several reasons. 1. I paid for it. I don’t want the money I gave that company to be just for free. 2. I don’t want it to go to a landfill. When I finish a palette completely, it is easier to clean and then recycle.
