Mursty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

2017 has been a pretty odd year with a quite a lot of transition. I’m still getting used to the new way of life, so I don’t feel i’ve been as creative as I could have been.  Certainly a year of creative spikes and valleys, but I guess that’s the way of adult life.

As ever, i’d like to promise i’ll be drawing more in 2018, but that’s seldom the way it actually works out, and predicting how these things will go is endlessly tricky, still, i’ll give it my best, as there’s a number of projects I’m keen to tackle, and it’s been fun having things like the dumb Mursty comic to be going on with, and keeping the juices flowing. I should probably do more scribbly doodles on MDDDC, but I always seem to end up putting more effort into a lot of the things than I should...I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, given that it started life as a sketch blog.

I think rather than promising more doodles, or a significant increase in quality (although i’d also like for both of those to be the case) i’d rather focus on something I feel like i’ve been neglecting quite a bit, which is communication.

There’s a lot of wonderful artistic people whom I am in awe of out there, doing all sorts of work in all sorts of styles and fields, and i’m keen to get to know some of them a bit more, as I tend to be fairly insular in the circles in which I draw. I love watching people stream, and am forever keen to learn new tricks and tips, as there’s still so much more to gain, and I should never want to fall into an artistic rut wherein my own style becomes stagnant or jaded because I can’t be bothered to improve.

To that end, I think getting to know more people and getting involved with more communal activites would be good. Feel free to hit me up for a chat anytime, artist or not, and drop me some advice, or tell me what you’d like more of or less of, on either this or TerminalBlogma. While I suspect I won’t ever stop just doodling silly things which interest me, personally,  it would be nice to know the kind of things others appreciate more or less.

Equally, if you’re an artist, please do feel free to get in touch and chat about art, or ask me about art trades and whatnot. I genuinely enjoy drawing other people’s characters a lot of the time. I’m keen to know the way that other people approach drawing, and how they conduct it, so hit me up.
