Ezra looked around as the woman spoke, shaking his head. “Oh no, I’m fine,” he said. “Sorry for hovering, but there’s, uh…” He pointed ahead toward the sidewalk in front of the cafe, where a couple was in the midst of a heated argument. “I don’t wanna interrupt. I think one of them is telekinetic so things really might start flying in a second.”

Glancing in the direction that the man was indicating, eyes narrowing a little as she quietly assessed the situation. “Which is telekinetic, do you think?”

Joslyn looked over at the newspaper and then back to her sister. “Please, I don’t read that garbage.” She joked it was ironic because it was a Blackwell Media paper after all. “You look stressed Mags.”

"Wonderful, great advertising, even one of our CEOs doesn’t read our media.” she replied dryly, a small smile on her lips as she glanced at her younger sister. “Oh really? I thought this was my normal face.” she replied, before taking a more observant glance at Joslyn, “You doing okay?”

Beckett hadn’t been in town nearly long enough to understand what the Clave was, or what happened with them. All he knew was that they were bad, and that they were going on trial for something that had happened months ago. Everyone seemed a bit uneasy, and usually he would avoid people at all costs in that case, but as he found himself standing in the Society Cafe with a coffee in hand, he realized there were no empty tables. He had to sit with somebody. So, heading outside, he paused near a table and swallowed hard, trying to think of how to ask. “Oh, no… sorry.” He said quickly once he realized a girl at a table was talking to him. “There, uhm, aren’t any empty tables anywhere… do you mind if I sit with you?”

"Not at all, go for it.” she replied as she unfolded the newspaper again, dark eyes scanning the words on the page despite the fact that she knew each and every letter, each sentence, by heart. But it was like an obsession, a craving, a compulsion that she needed to keep checking up on the news in case it changed within seconds. “Are you new around here?”

Having yet to make his presence known to those who knew him from his short time in Hollow Grove after the sudden disappearance he had yet to explain, Ciarán found himself opting to wander the streets until both boredom and curiosity got the better of him. Luckily, his time venturing around the cafe seemed to cure at least one of those mental anguishes when the sound of a woman calling his attention brought the vampire to her table. 

His gaze momentarily lowered to the paper, the bold headline about the clave certainly wasn’t something to go unread but neither was being in the presence of a Blackwell. Sure, he hadn’t formally met her but Ciarán knew who they were, which ones hated him and which ones he’d attempt to win over the favor of. So far the odds weren’t looking so great with Joslyn and Noah. “Big news day, but no keep it for yourself. I can always find someone who wants to tell me what’s going on.” 

She glanced upwards as she leant back in her chair, smiling a little. “Well, no doubt that it’ll be all around by the town by now.” she admitted quietly, knowing that the news would travel fast. Especially given that it concerned the Clave, the dark shadow that had been looming over the town for so long now. “Are you new in town?”

Runa didn’t have a job in Hollow Grove but that didn’t mean that she didn’t keep herself busy. Between Joslyn and her sire Lukas, the former viking always had something to do. Usually she could be found at Purgatory, either mediating or fighting herself, which happened to be her favorite pastime as of late. But there were days that she took off, just to chill somewhere else in town. Which was why she was in the Society Cafe. “Mmm, i’m not big on newspapers. Don’t care much about the news.” she chuckled as she took a seat across from Maggie. “Just thought i’d stop by and catch up.”

Maggie finally glanced up as Runa spoke and she smiled a little in response, “I suppose it gets a bit repetitive...” she mused quietly, dropping her gaze to the paper briefly before she returned her attention to Runa, ignoring the paper between them. “I myself, have an overwhelming urge to be constantly in the know about whats going on in the world.” she admitted quietly, “How’re you doing?”

Kitty smiled softly as the woman spoke and shook her head. “No, thank you,” she said, politely as ever. “I was just wondering if I could grab a couple of your Splenda packets? My table is all out. I’m sorry if I bothered you.” 

'Go for it hon,” she replied with a small smile, pulling herself slowly out of her thoughts, “No, you didn’t bother me. I’m on another planet today.”

“No, no, I have my own.” He lifted the one in his hand to show he was fine. While he didn’t particularly make an effort to speak to the Blackwells unless business called for it, Maggie happened to look how he felt. Plus, business did call for it today. “You would think I’d memorized every word by now with as often as I’ve read this.” He sighed and took a seat at a nearby table, not wanting to invite himself to hers. “Are you ready for it?”

She’d made a note that they would have to face the Greyson’s eventually and a lot more than they would like to in the coming months. They both want justice for their respective loved ones, those that they’d lost. She offered him a smile, though it didn’t quite meet her eyes. She mulled over his question, it was one she’d been asking both herself and her siblings since a decision was made. “Yes and no.” she replied finally, “I want justice. I want them to pay. I’m just .. cautious. We both know how evasive they can be, how they’ve fled before. You?”

Zinnia shook her head, not at the woman’s words but to clear it. “Uh, no, sorry,” she said. “I was, uh…” She paused, trying to find a way to put this that didn’t make her sound crazy. Even in a town of supernaturals her power raised some eyebrows. “It’s a witchy thing,” she said. “It’s a long story, I’m sure you’re not interested. Sorry for hovering.”

She offered the woman a small smile in response, “Well, try me.” she replied with a soft chuckle. “You’re not hovering at all, it’s fine.”

08: Played any sports?

“Never seriously, the super strength and agility always felt like cheating. Now I stick to charity football games against equally matched opponents. I enjoy them though, I can get competitive if the mood strikes me.”

21: What are your plans for this weekend?

“Ideally, wine would be involved but realistically, preparing for the adversity the towns about to face... bringing the Clave to justice, working, keeping busy.” 

36: Do you give out second chances too easily?

“No, once you break my trust it’s hard to earn back. Not impossible, but not often heard of either.”

“I must admit, I have a fondness for sunshine. Grey cloudy days get me down, so a beautiful spring or summer day sunshine is my favourite.”

“Well, I know nothing about fashion, I’ll give you that. That’s you and my mother. But you’re going to have to define bad choices, important stuff, that is, if we ever do have a conversation that long.” Jonathan mused, there had only been one in his life that had come close. Put their multiple thousand year histories together though and who knew. “And here I thought I had a favorite aunt.” He scoffed  in mock disappointment before footing after her. “I must be, if you’re taking me to meet these people.”

“Well, that’s true.” she replied teasingly, though even she resorted to sometimes probing Joslyn for more information. She always put her best foot forward in every aspect, the wardrobe was no question, and she knew that keeping an eye on fashion was a key move to blending in. “Well you do, I mean, you have no choice I’m your only aunt.” she replied with a grin, “Well, don’t tell anyone. It’ll be our little secret.”

Vanessa smiled at that, “I agree. They would accept him no matter what, the love for Elvis has no bounds.” She gave a small laugh, “but we can’t let it get out that supernaturals are still around, that would just start another war.”

“It’s the true uniting love,” she replied with an amused laugh, “Well, that’s what we tried to do. But, the Clave had other ideas. Now it’s just avoiding the war part.” she sighed softly, the memory of the moment she found out that Summerdale was gone and that the humans were aware of them once more was one of the most heartbreaking moments of her long life. The feeling of failure hit her once more, and she was quick to force the smile back to her lips. 

“Depending on what exactly you’re going to be saying about mine, I might be able to spare a millennia or two. Give or take.” He jested, knowing how strange it was to think about, considering how long he’d been away from his immediate family. A literal different world. “I’m taking this ‘modern’ world day by day.” He shook his head. “Me too. Is that code for you’re going to take your favorite nephew backstage to talk with him too?”

“Oh, I reserve the right to judge, absolutely. At least the important stuff, the fashion, the bad choices.” she replied, hoping to make it clear that if there were dark moments in Jonathan’s life, and she had no doubt that he did, you couldn’t live as long as they had without them, she wouldn’t judge. “I don’t have a favourite nephew, no idea what you're talking about.” she replied with a chuckle, before she indicated for him to follow her. “C’mon, let’s introduce you to some of the greatest.”

Joslyn was living her best life. Monster Jam was something she lived and breathed every year even if she avoided Hollow Grove like it was the plague most of the time over the years she always found her way back for this. Looking up she saw Maggie and she grinned like the devil. “Hell yes I am, the real question here is. Are you having fun?”

It made Maggie happy to see Joslyn happy, having fun, and she knew that no matter what happened now she’d be pleased. “I am... I’ve always enjoyed this,” she replied with a smile, music is one thing she’d always enjoyed, ever since she was a child. “I’m just excited by how many great acts came this year.”

“Just a moment, though, before you remembered that wasn’t in my emotional range?” It was a joke more than anything, though all things considering it was a little disappointingly accurate. While it seemed his siblings had easily adjusted into this life and this new timeline, Noah couldn’t quite grasp it. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself, though. Better than being locked up in your office all hours of the day.” 

“Before I alert the media, and post the sight all over every media outlet I have access too, which as you know .... is a fair bit.” the woman replied with a chuckle. “Well, yeah a little birdy or ten have been telling me I spend too much there.. can you believe it? I mean, I could’ve put a bed there but I didn’t that should be progress enough.”
