1. I’m an 18+ person, so I write 18+ things, I don’t do fades. I write smut as it is - i do know some people are unfortunately not comfortable in writing out these things, but i’m sorry I’m not the partner you seek if that’s the case :)

Like normal Edward was walking without any of his staff nearby. And unlike Attina his family had not been blessed with any other sibling but himself. A sole child - one expected to pass his line and therefor become unforgettable to this world - a legacy, is what was expected to leave behind.

He was startled however by the beauty of this woman, had he seen her before - she clearly was a member by the ton that much he could tell.

"You or the water?" A small flirtation, a bit out of his character but he couldn't help it.

Sarah couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow and laugh at his statement. I was quite…off the way he worded it, but she forgave any shred of doubt to listen to Adam. “My adventures? As much as I crave wanderlust, I am afraid this is as far as I have come.” She sat next to Adam, while ordering an ale. 

“I am in fact stuck in….well society. No one quite involved in such adventure there. Tis why I come here. I have fun for myself, with no one knowing.“ She said scooching closer to Adam. “Though I crave to tavel. I have in fact never been out of the country, society even. It would be a dream to travel to Paris, or Italy…somewhere far away...“

Sarah was quite adorable, with her golden hair and bright eyes. She could see quite a gentleman fall for her in the future - if anything they’d become the bestest of friends (if she revealed herself to be a gentle lady instead of a gentleman)

Ah, society. It was a cruel mistress. Amelia sighed, she understood of course - the only way a lady could travel was with a chaperon, or a husband. Which luckily for her was her brother - but she understood that it could be less free to other women.

“Daring, I must say.” Amelia said with a smile. “With what excuse do you come here - meeting a friend?”

Italy, Paris - somewhere far away. It was a rarity that Amelia (Adam) found a woman with similar tastes, that longed to leave London behind, and just explore the world.

“I wish I could take you with me.” He muttered softly, though a selfish wish it was all with good intentions.

There was something quite cold about Lord Jones. She had never met a man who was quite…honest with how he felt on a situation such as this. Though to be fair, she had never proposed such a thing. But Lord Jones….he was willing, to do whatever. “Okay…I will.” She said back to him she said strongly.

With all that has happened in Rosalie’s life, where she was forced to remain strong. Everytime her father and brothers opened their mouths. When her mother died. When some awful brute asked her to dance…though thankfully she would not have to worry about that for too long. However she always remained strong, never showed any weakness. And Lord Jones would certainly be no exception. 

“Yes, that is perfect.“ She sighed happily, thankfully he was getting the picture of what this arrangement was. “Anything to get my father to believe you and I are in love. if he thinks otherwise and we become engaged, this will not work.“ she assured him, anything to let him know that this was purely a political arrangement. “perhaps….“ she sighed as she twirled a strand of her hair, what she often did when she was deep in thought. “perhaps you should call me by my first name as well…”

Mr Jones was aware that he was cold, but in a way he had been made cold by his father.  His father was a brute with little to no respect for women, his mother had taught him otherwise. He had adored his mother - perhaps that is why her death came as a shock to him and his father having the status he had he simply bought the judges and blamed everything on the stable guy.

It was strange that he knew this woman before him was the one he was bound to wed. He looked at her closely, studied her ways if you will. And found himself thinking that she was quite charming, however he didn’t find charming alone attractive - there were other ways to his heart perhaps one that Rosalie would one day found out.

“Well then, Rosalie - what about we finish our drinks and take a walk in the park, well if you ‘ll let me that is?” He raised his eyebrow and showed her a smile. If it was genuine or not that certainly was the question.

Tina breathed a light sigh of relief when he assured that was all. It seemed, however, that was not the case. She had scarcely moved. His next request should not have been surprising, and yet… This was not often the kind of request to be expected of a maid. There must be a nurse nearby? Or a senior member of staff. But, from what Tina had seen, most staff had been dismissed for the evening, leaving only her and a few night workers on the premises. From what she had heard in whispers… Mr. Hook was asking for discrepancy. 

She took another look at the bruise shining brightly on his cheek. There was little thought behind it when she reached up, moved his face slightly so that she could truly see it in the candlelight and dim evening light through the window, going so far as to raise slightly on her toes for a better look. There was bruising, and a slight, tender cut. “Witch Hazel might help,” Tina offered sympathetically. “And– if you’ll allow it, Sir, I may be able to steal– I mean, acquire some cold meat or ice from the ice house. Peter gets bruised up all the time and if we’re lucky we can get some of the ice off the fishmonger at the market, and it usually works. Ice, I mean. Not the fish.”

This was a recipe for disaster.

Tina relaxed again when Mr. Hook distanced himself, leaving her space to move to the door. Her hand lingered on the handle as he made another request. “Yes, Sir,” she replied, nodding gently. “Shall I tell the other staff?”

Perhaps the hit to his head did more damage than he thought, as he found himself intrigued by the maid before him. She wasn’t a woman of status, so she would only do as a mistress to warm his bedsheets. The idea of laying hands on her (though consensually, of course) was something that made his mouth water with longing. He however shook those thoughts away - no, he didn’t yearn for this woman, he yearned for a woman. Like Wendy-though she had told him that what happened that night would not be repeated, a pity considering she was the only woman he actually had believed he could marry. 

She was smart and gentle, caring for her brothers - a family person which despite not coming from a loving one, he too desired as such. 

“That would do me well.” He said absent-mindedly, feeling tired all of a sudden. The trip had been a long one - one didn’t really travel from England to America with ease. 

“No, keep things to yourself for now. I wouldn’t want to bother the staff with this…issue.” He coughed. “Have a good night, Miss Bell.”

Confusion read plainly on Tina’s face as Mr. Hook laughed. Why is he laughing? Surely, hopefully, that wasn’t the laughter of a man who was about to scold Miss Bell six ways from Sunday. It wouldn’t have been any surprise, if he did. Sometimes cruel men found humour in knowing they were about to do something upsetting. Tina’s eyes did not stray from the soup. Her only wish was that Mr. Hook was happy enough with it that he would dismiss her quickly, and not give her any more opportunities to speak her mind.

She was being rather meticulous with the setting of the desk just in case. Perhaps she was taking too long with it, because she heard the shallow click of Mr. Hook’s shoes coming up behind her, and was not quick enough to move out of his way. There was nary a space between them as he reached around, taking the spoon.

Tina felt the grazing of his hand against her waist through her pinafore. Her eyes flickered from the soup, to the spoon, watching as it went, slowly, to his lips. There was nowhere for her to go. Miss Bell was frozen to the spot. This must be the cruel joke. He was going to stand there and eat the entire bowl of soup over her shoulder and make her watch, just as a punishment for bad manners.

She breathed slowly. There was a distinct smell -not soup- that Tina knew very well. Like pine and fresh air. Like how she and Peter often smelled when they escaped to the forest for peace and quiet.

Tina, now with a hammering heart, had to get out of here before the cruel joke went any further. The only thing free to move without sending the spoon flying was her lips. “Is it… acceptable? You may dismiss me if there isn’t anything else you need, My Lord?”

Yes, he should dismiss her, shouldn't he? But he felt a need for company, and he wished for anyone well, it did not matter. He should not burden her with his pathetic sight; she probably would find him a burden as well. 

"That is all - ah, no wait. Do you by chance know something that can lighten the bruising?" He didn't want to stay occupied in his room, and he surely wouldn't be allowed to greet any guests with a black eye. 

He dropped the spoon to make way for Miss Bell and sat by the bedside. 

" If not, I would not wish to take up any more of your time." He did not want to be a burden. 

"Oh, and Miss Bell. I will be having my breakfast and dinner in my room, so please deliver the meals when you can."

“Quite the Charmer I see Mister Adam.” Sarah looked at him with an eyebrow up. “You should know, I have frequented this pub often on my own. However I do not mind the company.” Sarah smiled at the man as they walked into the club. Surely there would be no one to bother her this time around with him by her side, or so she hoped. “Have you been here before? I apologize I do not recognize you and I surely thought I would.”

“Only if the women are as charming as I am.” Amelia said with a chuckle. “I see, I see a girl who likes a bit of danger now and again. Let me guess you are the adventurous type!” She said quite excitedly. “Tell me about your adventures my lady. I’ll be all ears.” Amelia opened the door and ignored the gazes, she lowered her head in case anyone (cough her brother) would recognize her. “I have to admit I have only once, and it has been quite the experience.”

She walked to a table, and waited for the girl to make her order. She herself was going for a nice beer, her brother had let her have a sip last time - but now she wanted a bottle for her own. And with the pocket money she had to spare well - she could buy more than just a bottle (she could buy the pub if she wanted)

“If I must be honest my lord….” Rosalie sighed as she looked up at him. “I have no one to think to invite. The women of the ton are not fond of my views, in fact the only friend I really have is a seamstress in the village. I suppose if she could come… She admitted hesitantly, knowing making enemy of Lord Jones would be quite the wrong move. 

Though a slight feeling of annoyance came upon her as he mentioned some of her rules. “I suppose so…” She said, feeling a blush come on her cheeks, but she quickly shook off the feeling as she did not want to show any weakness or vulnerability. “I expect you not to be a fool my lord. So yes I’m afraid you will have to give up….bedding other women.” 

Rosalie was quite demanding and bossy with her wishes. If there was any spec of a doubt she would pull out, she was not to be promised anything if someone wasn’t fully in. 

“Okay well we will deal with that when the time comes.“ Rosalie nodded in agreement. “Now to the plan. Perhaps you can court me for two weeks, that way my father will think we are in love, then we can marry quickly and continue on with our life. any oppositions?”

“Then invite her.” Throughout the selfishness of his character there was also a little desire to make his wife a happy one. So if a seamstress could get a smile on this woman’s face certainly he would want for her to attend. No one wished for a wife who couldn’t even smile in front of her husband.

The blush didn’t get unnoticed. Interesting. He thought to himself. apparently he hadn’t lost his charm completely. Though that flush didn’t seem to last long as she repeated something he already understood. He wouldn’t be able to sleep with other women - loyalty she had called it. Fair enough, as long as she warmed his bed, he would be faithful to her. Her and her alone.

He liked the bossiness in her, he liked women who took charge. After all a timid wife wasn’t a fun one.

“Agreed.” He stated simply. “Two weeks, yes I suppose that’ll do - i’m picturing some walks in the park, flowers - anything else you wish for?” He could kiss her right there and then and marry her for taken her lips for his own, but he wouldn’t do that seeing she wanted the romance instead.

Sarah Fletcher has been but sheltered her whole life. Unaware of the world, but wanting to discover so much more. She often came to bars, unchaperoned. Although it seemed dangerous it was a small glimpse of what she so desired, adventure, pleasure, all she could think of. Though sometimes on nights like these, she wished she had someone with her.

“Please leave me be.“ Sarah begged as a bruting man came to bother her, putting an arm around her, his breath smelling of gun. Though it wasn’t long before she was rescued by a young….man. Quite a beautiful young man if she said so herself. “Yes, I am fine now, thank you.“ She said offering him a small smile. “Well I cannot thank you enough, Mister Adam. I am Sarah. The pleasure is all mine.“

Amelia knew of that sheltered world, that's why she understood a lady who wouldn’t be with a chaperone out in the streets - but she also knew of the dangers. It was for that reason she had boxing classes instead of horse riding (though she still took horse riding lessons to appease her father.) and sword lessons from her brother who was a knight of the royal palace.

She nodded. A sense of relieve coming over her. “Nice to meet you Sarah, I wouldn’t say the pleasure is all yours alone.” She added a wink. “I am assuming you wanted access to this pub? It’s not the best place to attend alone for a woman, but if you will allow me I can attend as your chaperone for the evening.”

She was relieved she didn’t have to hurt anyone, it wasn’t like she enjoyed fighting but as a woman she had to protect herself.

“That won’t be necessary…” Rosalie half laughed at his words. “It is just my father and brothers, they will simply invite anyone they deem necessary, and i will agree.” She sighed, wondering whom Duke Jones would invite to the wedding, though she chose not to pry too far. 

“Duke Jones, I do have some conditions when we marry. Although it is a business arrangement, I will not be made a fool of in the Ton. I ask that you remain loyal to me. I will not have people talk amongst themselves of any unknown affairs i know not about.” Rosalie spoke adequately as she sat up in her chair. “Secondly I wish to be involved in every political position you are to make. This is a partnership and I wish to be involved.” She spoke, taking a small breath for the next question to come.

“And for the matter of children….” Rosalie said averting eye contact. “You are doing me and the country a great favor. If you wish to have children I will accommodate accordingly.” She sighed looking into his deep blue eyes, not noticing how truly blue the duke’s eyes were. “If you have any expectations for me as a wife, do let me know.”

He frowned for a moment, his wife seemed to be a bit too obedient for his taste. Then again he didn’t know her and she could prove to be a troublemaker later on. He simply will have to see. “Tell them your husband made you the one who has to make the list, if they dare to object I am more than willing to make their lives miserable.”

There was no rumor in town that knew what were to happen if you annoyed Edward Jones, people tended to disappear around him. He wondered if she was aware of the dangers of his work, and of the dangers of marrying him. He was a ruthless man, like his father had been though he never murdered anyone.

Not only that, but he had done things that hurt his pride however - in order to rise in success. But there were little people who could see past that, one of them being Simon Basset a man with a conflicting relationship with his own father - perhaps that's why they bonded with ease.

“So you expect me not to sleep around, but sleep with you alone.” A charming smile crossed his lips - fine - now he took a good look at her, she was pretty enough to warm his bed, yet she was to seduce him if she wanted to have him hold her. He preferred women who weren’t afraid to get what they wanted.

“I’m open to children, though there is no need for them immediately.” He wasn’t ready to be a father - didn’t have the example he needed.

The door opened, quicker than expected (though after the last time she really should have expected the haste). She stood up straight, almost spilling the steaming soup as she did so. Tina felt wholly unprepared for this job, in this giant house, with seemingly endless skeletons in its closets.

Just as she hadn’t expected the door to open again, she didn’t expect to see the deep red mark spread across Mr. Hook’s cheek. She should have, given the whispering and the cane. For the briefest of moments, Tina forgot all sense of decorum and manners that had been forced into her from working in such places and she grimaced. The very thing that lost her her last job was about to be her downfall again. Tina opened her mouth, breaking the silence of the hall.

“That’s a shiner…”

She knew in an instant that she had spoken out of turn (again). Tina brushed past Mr. Hook with haste, eyes averting to the soup so she didn’t spill it this time, before setting it on the desk as instructed. She arranged the bread, and the spoon, and the napkin neatly, and prayed.

James wasn’t one that liked to let people wait - perhaps the soup was hot to the touch, and he’d hate for a young maiden such as Miss Bell to burn her skin. Why he cared, he wasn’t sure - perhaps a part of him wanted to look out for her, a part of him wanted to care for her. Why? He hadn’t had the faintest of clues. 

A part of him didn’t want to know. Because knowing was dangerous. Far more dangerous than his mother was to him.

He’d call it loneliness - restlessness - desire? Yes, he’d settle for desire when he looked at Miss Bell. He didn’t know her, after all, and she was a maid above anything. A misfit for a duke’s son. She wasn’t even an option. 

And then he laughed, and it was a genuine laughter, one that he hadn’t expressed in a long time. “Yes, Miss Bell. That it is.” 

He moved towards her, leaned in to take the spoon, his hands caressing her body for a brief second, yet it felt as if he had been burned. If he moved even closer, his lips would graze her body - that was how close they were. And then James smelled it, the scent of Lavender. How pleasing.

Amelia had changed her name in what felt like a decade ago. Every time she snuck out in her brother’s clothing she went by the name of Adam. She was known to be a troublemaker, with a blade in hand. Women swooned over her, which she enjoyed because that's where her heart laid, but since she wasn’t a man she couldn’t return their affections.

It was a night when she noticed a drunken man bothering a girl. “Excuse me sir, can you leave.” First the man was hesitant but seeing the blade (and a gun she carried underneath) seemed to scare the guy away.

“Are you okay my lady?” She asked with a sweet voice, lower than her actual voice. “My name is Adam, you are safe now.”
