Velvet nights: Prince and Michael’s quiet love
PRICHAEL STORY ❤️💜 (STORY ALSO ON WATTPAD)
The award show had been loud in the way only award shows could be — flashing lights, cameras, people calling Michael’s name from every direction. By the time he slipped into a small backstage room, he felt wrung out. He closed the door behind him and leaned against it, breathing out slowly, finally away from the noise.
A moment later, the door opened again.
Prince stepped inside like he belonged there, though he didn’t say anything at first. He just looked at Michael — really looked — and something in his expression softened.
“You disappeared,” Prince said quietly.
Michael shrugged, embarrassed. “I just needed a minute.”
Prince nodded like he understood completely. “Mind if I take one with you?”
Michael hesitated, then shook his head. “No… you can stay.”
Prince walked over and sat on the couch, leaving space for Michael. Michael joined him, careful, almost timid. Prince didn’t tease him for it. He just rested his arm along the back of the couch, relaxed and warm.
“You look tired,” Prince said.
Michael let out a small laugh. “I feel tired.”
Prince’s voice dropped. “Then rest. I’m not going anywhere.”
Michael didn’t know why that made his chest feel warm, but it did. For a while, they just sat there. Michael’s breathing slowed. Prince watched him with a kind of quiet curiosity, like he was trying to understand him without prying.
“You don’t have to sit so far away,” Prince said gently.
Michael blinked. “Oh. Sorry.”
Prince shook his head. “Don’t apologize. Just… come here.”
He didn’t say it like a command. More like an invitation.
Michael moved closer, inch by inch, until their shoulders brushed. Prince didn’t move away. He let Michael settle, let him take his time.
“You’re tense,” Prince murmured.
Michael looked down. “I’m not used to… this.”
Prince tilted his head. “Being close to someone?”
Prince’s voice softened. “Then we’ll go slow.”
Michael felt something loosen inside him — a knot he didn’t know he’d been carrying. Prince shifted slightly, letting Michael rest more comfortably against him. Michael’s head found Prince’s shoulder naturally, like it belonged there.
“You’re calmer now,” Prince said.
Michael nodded. “I feel calmer.”
Prince reached up, brushing a curl away from Michael’s forehead. Michael’s breath caught, but he didn’t pull back.
Prince’s voice dropped to a whisper. “Can I kiss you?”
Michael froze — not in fear, but in surprise. No one had ever asked him like that. No pressure. No expectation. Just a question.
Prince leaned in slowly, giving Michael every chance to change his mind. Their lips met softly — warm, gentle, careful. Michael’s eyes fluttered shut. Prince kept the kiss slow, almost shy, even though Prince was never shy.
When they pulled apart, Michael whispered, “I’ve never… done that before.”
Prince rested his forehead against Michael’s. “Then I’m honored.”
Michael’s cheeks warmed. Prince smiled — a small, real smile.
Prince shifted on the couch, opening his arms slightly. “Come here.”
Michael didn’t overthink it this time. He moved into Prince’s arms, letting himself be held. Prince wrapped an arm around him, steady and warm, like he’d done it a thousand times.
Michael rested his head against Prince’s chest. Prince’s heartbeat was slow and calm.
“This feels nice,” Michael murmured.
Prince’s hand moved gently along Michael’s back. “It’s supposed to.”
Michael’s fingers curled lightly into Prince’s shirt, grounding himself. Prince didn’t say anything else — he didn’t need to. He just held Michael, letting him melt into the moment.
Prince pressed a soft kiss to the top of Michael’s head. Michael felt his whole body relax.
“You’re safe,” Prince whispered. “With me.”
Michael nodded against him. “I believe you.”
Prince tightened his hold just a little — protective, warm, human.
They stayed like that for a long time, the room quiet except for their breathing. Eventually Michael whispered, “I didn’t think I’d ever… feel this close to someone.”
Prince brushed his thumb along Michael’s arm. “You deserve closeness.”
Michael swallowed. “I’m scared I’ll mess something up.”
Prince shook his head. “You won’t. And if you ever feel unsure, you tell me. We figure it out together.”
Michael nodded, leaning in a little more. Prince tightened his hold, steady and warm.
Prince noticed the way Michael’s hands trembled slightly. Not fear — just shyness. Prince leaned back on the couch, opening his posture.
“You’re shaking less,” Prince said softly.
Michael let out a small laugh. “I think I’m getting used to you.”
Prince smiled. “Good. I want you to.”
Michael looked up at him, eyes soft. Prince brushed a curl from his forehead again, slower this time. Michael didn’t flinch. He leaned into the touch.
Prince whispered, “You’re doing so well.”
Michael’s cheeks warmed. “You make it easy.”
Prince tilted Michael’s chin gently. “Can I kiss you again?”
Michael nodded, shy but sure.
Prince kissed him slowly, carefully, letting Michael set the pace. Michael’s hands found Prince’s chest, resting there lightly. Prince kept the kiss soft, warm, human — nothing rushed, nothing heavy.
When they pulled apart, Michael whispered, “I like when you ask.”
Prince smiled. “I’ll always ask.”
Michael rested his forehead against Prince’s. “Thank you.”
Prince shifted, guiding them toward the corner of the couch where they could sit more comfortably. Michael followed, still close, still trusting.
Prince leaned back, opening his arms again. Michael curled against him without hesitation this time, resting his cheek on Prince’s chest.
Prince murmured, “You fit here.”
Michael blushed. “I… like being held.”
Prince kissed the top of his head. “Then I’ll hold you as long as you want.”
The lamp flickered softly, casting warm shadows. Michael traced a small pattern on Prince’s shirt with his fingertip.
“Do you ever get scared?” Michael asked quietly.
Prince exhaled. “More than people think.”
Michael looked up. “Really?”
Prince nodded. “Being confident doesn’t mean I’m never afraid. It just means I don’t let fear stop me.”
Michael absorbed that. “I want to be like that.”
Prince brushed his fingers through Michael’s hair. “You already are. You’re here. You’re opening up. That’s brave.”
Michael’s eyes softened.
Prince wasn’t used to being the one held. But something about Michael’s gentleness made him relax in a way he rarely did.
Michael noticed. “You’re quieter.”
Prince nodded. “You calm me down.”
Michael smiled shyly. “I’m glad.”
Prince rested his head lightly against Michael’s. “I don’t usually let people see me like this.”
Michael whispered, “I won’t hurt you.”
Prince closed his eyes. “I know.”
Michael shifted slightly, lifting his head to look at Prince. Prince met his gaze, eyes warm.
Michael whispered, “Can I… hold you? Just for a minute?”
Prince blinked, surprised. “Yeah. You can.”
Michael guided Prince gently, letting him rest against Michael’s chest. Prince let out a slow breath, relaxing into the embrace.
Michael held him carefully, like he was something precious.
Prince murmured, “You’re good at this.”
Michael smiled softly. “You taught me.”
Prince shook his head. “No. This is you.”
They switched positions again, settling back into their earlier cuddle. Michael tucked himself under Prince’s arm, Prince’s hand resting on Michael’s shoulder.
Michael whispered, “I don’t want this night to end.”
Prince kissed his temple. “It doesn’t have to.”
Michael looked up. “Really?”
Prince nodded. “Stay with me.”
Michael’s heart fluttered. “Okay.”
Prince stood slowly, offering his hand. “Come on.”
Michael took it, letting Prince guide him down the quiet hallway. Prince’s bedroom was dim, warm, simple. He sat on the edge of the bed and pulled Michael gently into his arms.
Michael curled against him, head on Prince’s shoulder. Prince wrapped both arms around him, holding him close.
Michael whispered, “This feels… safe.”
Prince rested his cheek on Michael’s hair. “It is.”
Prince shifted back, lying down slowly. Michael followed, settling beside him. Prince pulled the blanket over them, keeping Michael tucked against his chest.
Michael murmured, “I’ve never done this before.”
Prince kissed his forehead. “Then let this be your first.”
Michael’s fingers curled lightly around Prince’s shirt. Prince held him tighter.
They lay there quietly, listening to each other’s breathing. Michael traced small circles on Prince’s arm. Prince stroked Michael’s back gently.
Michael whispered, “Your heartbeat is slow.”
Prince smiled. “You’re calming me.”
Michael blushed. “You’re calming me too.”
Prince kissed his cheek. “Good.”
Michael swallowed. “Prince… I think I’m falling for you.”
Prince’s breath caught. He lifted Michael’s chin gently. “I’m falling for you too.”
Michael’s eyes softened. Prince kissed him — slow, warm, steady. Michael kissed back, hands trembling slightly but sure.
Prince whispered, “You’re everything I hoped you’d be.”
Michael hid his face in Prince’s chest, overwhelmed. Prince held him close.
They didn’t sleep right away. They talked quietly, whispered little things, shared small stories. Michael laughed softly at one of Prince’s jokes. Prince smiled at the sound.
Michael whispered, “I like hearing you talk.”
Prince brushed his thumb along Michael’s cheek. “I like hearing you breathe.”
Michael blushed again. Prince kissed him softly.
The sky outside began to lighten. Michael stirred slightly, still in Prince’s arms. Prince tightened his hold instinctively.
Michael whispered, “Are you awake?”
Prince murmured, “Yeah. Didn’t want to let go.”
Michael smiled. “You don’t have to.”
Prince kissed his forehead. “Good.”
Michael sat up slightly, looking down at Prince. Prince reached up, touching Michael’s cheek.
Michael whispered, “What happens now?”
Prince smiled softly. “Whatever we want. We take it slow. We stay honest. We stay close.”
Michael nodded. “I want that.”
Prince pulled him back into his arms. “Then it’s ours.”
They lay there, wrapped in each other, the morning quiet and gentle. Michael rested his head on Prince’s chest. Prince stroked his back slowly.
Michael whispered, “Thank you… for teaching me.”
Prince kissed the top of his head. “You taught me too.”
Michael closed his eyes, smiling softly.
Prince held him close, warm and steady.
And together, they began something new — gentle, patient, human.
