“Welcome the cold” is an original composition that I wrote on the classical guitar. I wrote this piece for the coming cold season here in Canada. Personally, I have a special relationship with the cold as I believe it is a great teacher and cleanser, I find strength in the discomfort of cold which eventually turns into pleasure for me, welcoming the cold in my experience is taking a daily cold shower or jumping in the cold lake in the middle of winter or doing the “uncomfortable”. Through this discomfort I am able to overcome fear, I am able to tune in into my inner world, and I am able to strengthen my body and mind.

In this piece I tried to convey the feelings of cold, I added sounds of dissonance that resolve into melodies harmonies to convey the “uncomfortable feelings of cold” that turn into comfort and strength. I wrote this piece in F minor as it sounds cold to me and has a blue feel to my ears. I hope this piece will take the listener through an interesting musical journey.

The inspiration came from being in nature and feeling calm, alive and very present, even during the unrest in the world today. I hope that when you listen to this piece you will experience some positive feelings. Enjoy.
