so i was playing though deltarune chapter 1, I finally beat that fuckass clown, LETS GO!
So I'mma throw Deltarune chapter 5 spoilers at you, but its been out for like a month so....
anyways, in the after-school section of the light world there's a review for Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 from Alphys. The information presented is: 2 was the first she watched, Mew Mew 1 comparatively looks like a "dumpster with sparkly cat ears", 2 is darker, has more mature themes and treats the viewer like a real adult whereas 1 treats the viewer like an animal that will die if it doesn't see a beach ball every 20 seconds, 1's character is as stale as ramen.
Idk but like it parallels pink from chapter 5. If we take Mew Mew 1 as the body and Mew Mew 2 as the ghost, then it kinda has her in the bag. Body Mew Mew is a cute kawaii cat girl that is pretty one dimensional like a stereotypical schoolgirl from an anime. Her whole thing is wow, I want to date, I want to go to school, which can definitely be read as stale. Ghost Mew Mew parallels the more mature themes and acts like an adult, along with having a darker colour pallet instead of darker themes. Ghosts whole deal is about dysphoria, loving yourself and not wanting to let go. We saw her thing in undertale, we love our trans ghosts.
So that's kinda it. I don't remember if it was the same in undertale. I think alphys liked 1 over 2 there but I don't exactly remember and google failed me. Or I might be doing a fandom thing where I remember it wrong...
Either way I wonder if this was the usual oh yeah, toby foreshadowed stuff for deltarune in the pokemon music he worked on, or if it worked back words. Still a cool connection

The one thing I will never get about the Undertale/Deltarune fandom is the choice of sexymen. You mean to tell me that there were THREE perfect sexymen characters for the role, but no, the fandom chooses the little scruncly fellas. Like in undertale, METTATON! Peak sexyman there, but no. We as a community chose the funny bone man. Chapter 1, Rouxls. He fits the part. But no, insane jester it is. And then we have Queen in Ch. 2, complete icon. But no, take the trash goblin, see if I care. He lives in a dumpster. This is fine.
Don't get me wrong, I have fallen down the rabbit hole of this fandom, and I mean deep down. I just think it's really funny.
And now with chapters 3 and 4 we have two new candidates!
Now I admittedly haven't seen as much of a clear fandom for the newest entries, but this is my opinion now!
Now our newest additions are now *drumroll please*
Tenna and Gerson!
Tenna as, come on, he's sexy man material through and through. Like look at that man! Beautiful!
And yes, Gerson is old man, but we have Stan Pines now. Good to see we're adding fat dads to the usual roster of skinny twinks.
Wow! I'm digging this bad boy up again! Because congratulations Tenna you are now officially a Tumblr sexyman! Good job on your win, and good job for all of those who made propaganda and celebratory posts!
And idk Flowery probably has chapter 5 in the bag. We all hate to love that twink.
I love learning new things from fanfics. Mostly things based on more regional differences.
I'm reading a undertale fanfic, math homework needs to be done, whatever, i think I know my middle school math. SO TELL ME WHAT THE HELL PEMDAS IS?
APPARENTLY IT'S BEDMAS?? And now I'm learning that a lot of places are different with their order of operations math??? What's BODMAS and what did you do to my babygirl BEDMAS?
You fool, you absolute buffoon. I've already started on artfight today. I've done a small mass attack. I will not be stopped until like a week in where I lose motivation.

So Batman vs Tmnt, an underrated film in my opinion.
It's kinda refreshing to have the turtles face absolutely new villains to them, and interact with new allies. I like how they've tried and experimented more in recent years, more so from Rise forward. As much as I love our existing villains, we can't have them the same way over and over again. We need variety in Tmnt storytelling.
The movie's really good, I'm no expert at Batman but I think all the characters are done really well from what I know. And the Tmnt ones are great. My boy Baxter is back and is competent, even sane. The turtles are really good. They fall into their archetypes really well, whilst not being stuck in them. They have layers, like an onion, or an ogre. And I like how each of them find a bat family member that they mesh well with, even though the Mickey and Alfred dynamic was a stretch. It was still funny. Also Harley Quinn was awesome, all the Batman villains were.
Design wise, I like the style of the turtles. They fall into the right category of looking the same yet distinct. The mutation designs were great on the villains. I like seeing how they redesigned already well established characters.
The action scenes were great, getting to see some new styles in fighting due to the introduction of the Batman cast. Additionally we also got to see more gore than usual in TMNT media. Like Ra's was chopping peoples heads clean off, kinda surprising. One thing they did do well was let things breath and slow down in between fight scenes. As I watch more and more action movies, I keep noticing that a lot have poor pacing. Most of it is go, go, go without time to slow down and realize the steaks. I especially had this problem with the new Mandelorian and Grogu movie, but that's another conversation.
Overall it was just really a good movie. Nothing really stands out to critique it on. The comedy, characterization and animation were all just really good. I really liked Donnie, he was all the best Donnie traits without them being too over the top. Really that can be said for all the turtles. And them not knowing batman or who he was at the start was cool. In universe it makes sense.
The Out of the Shadows tmnt movies next on my list, so lets get this done before I get too far ahead with other media.
First off, I like how they named it, it fits and it makes it so much easier to talk about it. In more recent years, they've gotten better at naming different iterations of Tmnt slightly different things, but man the first few are all titled the same. It's completely fine when talking within the fandom, going off of years they released works just fine in fact. But as soon as I go talking to others it gets confusing quick and I have to find other ways of differentiating them. Like when I say the "original series" my dad often thinks I'm talking about the live action and not the cartoons. So yeah, we need better naming conventions.
But hey, about the actual movie now, it's fun. Like I said with the other Bayverse film, it's an objectively bad movie, but I like it anyways. It's better than the first one anyways in my opinion, it just feels like there's more substance if that makes sense, it feels like there's a few more toppings in our nothing sandwich.
I love Bebop and Rocksteady in here, my boyfalures fr, I love them. It was funny that a wrestler from WWE was Rocksteady, but I don't think it stuck out too much as a celebrity casting. They were like just great Bebop and Rocksteady's, like the perfect amount of stupid hypemen.
This Raph is just forever my babygirl. I love the scene where they have to jump out of a plane, he's so silly asking what would Vin Diesel do. And of course we have even more Leo and Raph fighting, I think for a good while there we had writers just put those two at each others throats whenever they needed a conflict. Who needs a compelling conflict when the hot-head can question the leader?
Leo in this movie was fine, if anything he was too much of an asshole to his brothers. It definetly feels like they tried to pull a TMNT 07 Leo here, and I never really liked that Leo. When we have him saying only his opinion matters, I think we have a problem.
The retro-mutagen in general was a good idea executed poorly. After the big Leo/Raph argument they kinda just dropped it? Plus how do they turn human from it? Wouldn't they turn back to turtles? In other iterations retro-mutagen reverses the mutagens effect and turns you back to what you were before, so unless the logic is different, and it totally could be, they'd be just turtles again. The only other way of logic I can think of is if it just mutated you again to simply be a human, but then I wouldn't call it a retro mutagen, since retro means backwards or behind. Therefore Retro-mutagen would mean it takes you back to where you were before getting mutated. Unless it was called something else, I don't remember.
But hey, we got a beautifully disgusting Krang, and he was gorgeous. A little pink asshole, I wish to punt him. (lovingly) Baxter Stockman was also decently well done, a boy failure but he still held his own merit. I think he does fall into the same kind of smart guy tropes as Donnie. I don't know how to explain it but it feels like any "smart" character was written by someone who had no idea too?
Really, this movie kinda just has the same problems as the first one. There's so much it could have been, but a lot was just done poorly. However, I do think it was a better movie, simply due to better character interactions. We had the turtles together more outside of action scenes, and whilst I think Leo was worse, overall they had more personality. Also they had villains that had interesting personality's and dynamics this time as opposed to the non characters that were Shredder and Karai and whatever Eric Stacks had going on.
Whelp, I have three movies in a row to watch, so I get to make three reviews in a row, yay.
Let's start then with the first live action bayverse movie. I do belive I've said before that I really like these movies (for whatever reason.) I even made a cosplay of the Raphael from specifically this series for a recent convention. Mostly because this iteration of Raph had more to their design than just shell, belt and kneepads of other iterations. At least i got recognized twice for the specific movie.
That being said I actually kinda like the designs from this movie. Sure, they are ugly, my friend has said Mikey without a mask looks like a booger, but from their outfits they're pretty great. While they are impractical for a ninja, especially Donnie with all the tech strapped to him, they show off their individuality and personality pretty well. Plus, I think they just look cool.
Story wise, it was fine. I liked how the setup for the conflict between Shredder and the turtles was done, it felt different from the usual means so that was nice. Although, a lot of that probably comes from him originally being Eric Stacks, so not cool with the whitewashed shredder. Also I still don't know how Master Splinter knew about the Shredder, like he was legit just a rat, who learnt ninjitsu from a book.
The learning and becoming a master at ninjitsu from like one book doesn't make sense either. I do like the kinda different backstory, but the splinter part doesn't make sense.
Although I thought it was cool that April was tied already to the turtles, it made it make a bit more sense why this random lady cared so much about four teenage turtles and a rat. But lets be honest, this isn't April O'neil, this is just Megan Fox standing around with a blank face half the time.
Vern was cool I guess, a very hate-able character but he was an okay adaptation, 87 Vern was very punchable too.
It's really a bad movie, but I really like it. Sure some things don't make any sense, especially adrenaline and the medical readings, but hey, we got cool battles and the elevator scene so I'm happy. Plus what I'm pretty sure is a Very Turtle Christmas reference with the hip-hop Christmas album so thats cool I guess?

Now, my thoughts in a definitely very organized format.
In my opinion, it was okay. It definitely isn't my favorite by all means, but it isn't by any metrics bad. I definitely liked the later seasons better, the space episodes by far being my favorite. Although the last season meh. It was just a lot of filler that I didn't really care for.
The main reason I'd say I didn't like it were clunky character interactions. I don't want to say it, but the girls kinda sucked. I didn't really like April, she was just a walking plot device whether it be for a Donnie or Casey bit or for Kraang shenanigans. The ideas were good, like her becoming a Kunoichi or... her being friends with Irma again (but she's actually a Kraang) ig? And don't get me started on Karai.
I'm going to get started on Karai. She was more of a character that she is in other iterations, I'll give her that. Actually, she's a pretty cool character when I ignore the gripes I have with her. What I don't like about her mostly revolves around her being Splinter's daughter. In another executuion, it could be really cool, like Shredder raising his enemys kid as his own and all that jazz? It's so cool. But, there is so much focus from Splinter on her being Miwa, being his lost child.
Like at times he focuses more on "Miwa", on his lost kid, than on the kids he raised until he died. On the kids who currently need his guidance as they're like at most 17ish when he dies. And I know for a fact, you still don't get your shit together then. Even when she was gone, then back, good then bad, he was so focused on her. Of course I'm no parent (surprise surprise), nor have I lost a kid, but like, worry about your kids right in frount of you first, she seems to be doing quite fine.
To end off my Karai rant, why was she paired with Leo romantically. Like looking on the wiki, for nicknames or whatever it said he's called her sister. Like they're just objectively siblings, even if adopted, like why are there still romantic threads after Splinter kicks the bucket? Like I'm just done thinking about this. Now of course this isn't her fault, I like her, I think she's neat, but the narrative doesn't know what to do with girls apparently.
Oh lord, I'm going to ramble on so much more... The demons have won.
Whilst I love Splinter, I do have some big problems with him too. He is the best in a teacher and sensei sense from pure knowledge in my opinion, but as a father he's kinda lacking. Like there's the issue with Karai as stated above, and there's the pure pressure put on Leo. When you tell your son that he's going to become a sensei and father after you die, there's something wrong. I can understand the sensei part, he's the best at ninjitsu, he's the leader yada yada. But under no circumstances should you even expect your child to be a parent to their siblings. It happens, I'm aware of that, but it's still wrong, especially from how I remember it was phrased.
But going onto things I like, because why be a total downer, space was awesome. It just gave a different setting and stories than the same villain of the week or shredder/kraang are doing an evil, so that was cool. Plus Fugidroid was a really funny guy, so silly. Y'Gythgba (or Mona Lisa but I wanted to get her actual name in here at least once) is also introduced here and I'm biased towards her.
Like I think she's so awesome. Raph in my opinion, was so lucky she liked his weird turtle butt, because like fumble of the century if she didn't like him giving her a nickname. And I'm not going to go into the problematic aspects of him calling her something else because he couldn't say her name that's in her native language. Because that's the only callback/tie to the original Mona pretty much, so it sucks but it was probably for the sake of the "hey, that characters back(ish)" Yes Mikey, she is bigger, stronger and a fighter than Raph, that's the point. "What a woman" indeed Raph. She's just so cool and yeah...
Whilst I do have problems with the turtles, mostly they're a great representation of the turtles. Leo's a try hard leader done with the guys not listening to him whilst still being a giant geek, Raph's a hothead prone to blow yet still cares for his family (usually via sibling love aka bullying) and is a good turtle mom to both Spike and Chompy. Donnies a complete nerd who's constantly tired of people messing with his lab but is a total softie (we will not be ranting about his annoying, infuriating crush on April) and Mikey is a wildcard with a heart of gold, always willing to make friends and eat weird pizza.
Also, the jokes are usually so good, I've posted a few times already about funny lines. Baxters lines in the end of season 4 live in my head "You jerk! I liked being a fly!" The writing didn't miss too hard with jokes, the one liners definitely being the best.
The villains were pretty good too. Fishface and Dogpound were good shredder lackeys even if they were replaced by the nostalgic Bebop and Rocksteady in later seasons. Baxter Stockman was a pretty good blend of the incompetent fool of 87 and the straight up super villain of 03. But he kinda disappears at some points.
I will forever be mourning Timothy (The Pulverizer). Was he annoying? Yes. Was he a total fool? also yes. But my boy did not deserve to be turned into a pile of mutant goop and left in a vat in Donnies lab. Why did Donnie never use retro-mutagen on my boy failure!
And they did the 87 crossovers way better than Turtles forever, I love the gags with 12 Donnie and 87 Raph since they have the same VA
Idk, it was pretty good as a background show for my crafts, but there's better tmnt. But hey, on the bright side, it's nowhere near the worst iteration (cough cough Next Mutation.)
Look, I love 2012 mikey, he's so silly, especially when stalling or distracting enemy's. He always gets up to scooby and shaggy shenanigans, but I'm shaking my head at him sometimes. He's so dumb i love him.
This is just literally about season 4 episode 21 because to stall bebop and rocksteady, he says the turtles have salmonella. This, somehow, distracts them enough that Leo and Raph can get the jump on them. Why does this work in any way?
In your tmnt 03 post I know you mentioned Don Mikey and Leo but I am curious how do you feel about 03 Raph? I donβt think we seen you talk about him I could be wrong π€·ββοΈ
Well this was from a while ago, better late then never I suppose.
But yeah, I looked over my old posts and I can't find any mentions of Raph. I'm kinda surprised I didn't as I absolutely adore this version of him. Like he easily makes my favorite turtle list.
I love how snarky and sarcastic he is, and he has like the best one liners, the brooklyn accent just makes the voice acting so good. He's a great blend of brash hothead and someone who'd fight till the end for his family.
Plus he's just got great chemistry with the others. We love the sibling love of beating up your brothers *cough cough mickey*
He's just so good. He just makes up all the best parts of a Raph for me. Like I said before he's fighting with the Bay Raph and Rise Donnie for my favorite turtle. But he often wins.

I, for whatever reason, decided I'm going to try to do artfight this year. So let's start making references yall or I'm not going to get them done let's be honest.
