FULL BIO
tl;dr.
mavis grew up on the road in a cargo van with her mom libby and younger half-sister cricket. her mom was pretty erratic and oftentimes neglectful, and tensions built until she was sixteen and decided to leave to find her father in chicago. he and his family took her in, and the second half of her life has been marked by stability. it took a turn when she turned thirty-two, leading to a premature mid-life crisis, and it came to a head with an unpleasant reunion with her mother. she uprooted herself, quit her job, and tracked cricket to aurora bay, where she's been for a week now.

tidbits.
has literally always had at least one book on hand. when she was a kid and couldn't get a library card because she didn't have a permanent address to prove residency, she'd swipe books and return them with an apology note. if they'd already left a place before she finished, she would mail them back
loves a good lie. it was hard to avoid it when she was a kid for a number of reasons, but it's a habit she's never really been able to shake and, unsurprisingly, still gets her into trouble a lot.
has a golden retriever named carlo who's currently being pet-sat back in chicago. (she's definitely going to be getting him sent to her if she finds a more long term solution than her airbnb. she's already having withdrawal symptoms without him)
her younger half-siblings on her dad's side (teddy and lena) are twenty-seven and twenty-four now and both still live in chicago. they have a standing dinner every second wednesday of the month at mavis's apartment. they also have dinners at their parents' every other sunday
she still calls her dad oliver or oli. she tried out the 'dad' thing with him and found it just couldn't stick. it's not a pointed comment on his absence through half of her life, as that wasn't his fault, but there is some kind of mental block there
most of her writing is at least a little semi-autobiographical, either taken from her experiences as a kid or adapted from stories she used to tell cricket. she has bits and pieces of something longer-form in the works, but just can't seem to put all of them together in a coherent way
pretty much always has to be stimulated one way or the other. she's always either reading or listening to something and can't sleep without white noise
she didn't actually have to quit her job. she'd been there long enough that she could've asked to work fully remote and kept doing it in AB, or she could've taken vacation time, but she's the all-or-nothing kind. she's depending on savings for now but it obviously isn't sustainable.
connections.
