With the wedding quickly approaching, so many of our friends have been so excited for us. Aside from wanting to know every single detail that they can pull out of me, they've also been interested in our relationship. I feel a bit more open to talking about it now that we're engaged. Privacy was a big thing when we were dating. Not that it isn't now, but I think I smudged that hard line a bit.

Mikey wasn't my first boyfriend. He wasn't the first significant other to meet my friends and family. My first sweet gesture wasn't from him.

So how did it, especially with the long distance, work out? How did he become the man I was going to marry?

Mikey &I have talked every single day since the day he first texted me. Be it a phone call, text, e-mail or IM, we always made sure we kept our communication open. It was my way to show him that I was always thinking about him.

&it wasn't just me talking to him all the time. Though it might have been at first. I would actually test him. Hahah. I know, I'm terrible. But I just had to make sure I guess. When I would get to class, I would open up Facebook or AIM before any Adobe program I needed that day. Sure enough he would almost always be online. I would leave it open and not IM him. I looked at it as "Okay, I've given you enough. If you're really interested, you'll want to talk to me."

So we really were friends first. We were two strangers that knew nothing about each other, except that we shared the same faith. Communicating with each other really allowed for us to get to know each other on so many different levels. Sometimes people bring up the fact that because of our distance, we might not know each other enough, but it isn't the case. Eventually he really earned my respect &trust and I was able to tell him anything. Everything.
