It served as a constant reminder to what happened, and the fact that at first they'd labelled them as an Imposter. If no nation had ever hunted them down, Dottore may have never had the chance to take them away.

Zhongli stood frozen in his place as Childe finished the story. Never in his life did he think such a horrible thing could be done to their God. An experiment, so broken that they were dependent on the people that saved them from a horrible future as nothing more than a weapon.

Zhongli gulped, the clot in his throat holding back any words. His amber eyes burnt, and he fell to his knees as gut-wrenching pain made him falter.

Their God was in so much pain, all because they had failed to realize who they truly were.

Venti found out the truth through a long letter the former Geo Archon sent him, the ink splattered in places tears have hit the paper. The edges were crinkled and uneven. The deal struck between the Harbinger and Zhongli may have prohibited him from talking about it, but nothing was ever said about him writing down his findings.

He clutched the letter in his hands as his usual smile fell off his face, lips turning down in a frown. Unlike Zhongli, his cries were louds, the wind carrying his sobs and tears throughout his beloved nation. Storms raged across the mountains and city of freedom that day, dark clouds hiding the sun from sight. The people stayed inside, wary of the winds and praying to their Archon to let up soon.

The Anemo Archon, too, asked himself how they hadn't noticed the truth earlier. He thought back to the times he thought he'd seen their blood having a golden shine underneath the sun, how the statues had started cracked after the Imposter's sudden disappearance. Animals had gathered close to the pretender and even Dvalin had refused his pleas to look for them.

It was so painfully obvious now that he looked back at his past actions.

The next day, the storm ceased and the sun burst through the clouds to bring light to the world once again. Venti went to Angel's Share and sang his ballads, the ones dedicated to their God.
