Regarding the use of my art
I always love and appreciate it when you interact with and share my work whenever I post new stuff, whether it's my drawings or comics. Likewise, I don't mind it if/when my art gets used in compilations, edits, videos, and so forth, which brings it to a broader audience in whatever fandom I draw for, like, for instance, House of the Dragon, which is my current major special interest.
However, I only ask that if you decide to repost my artwork anywhere, and for any use, that I am tagged properly so that I can see it, enjoy it like everyone else, and generally just be granted credit for my work
I recently, by chance, came across a post on Instagram, where a profile had made an edit of my most recent Alysmond drawing, which was really lovely, but had I not stumbled upon it, I would have been none the wiser. Granted, the Tumblr link to the drawing was in the post's caption, but the person behind the account was unaware that I had an Instagram account as well, so I was not tagged, nor had the link otherwise been forwarded to me.
I have made them aware of this now.
I rarely expect anyone, who does not tag properly to do so with malicious intend, and I generally find that the best approach is to simply gently let them know.
For clarity, my Instagram handle is matt_melancholic with an underscore, whereas here on Tumblr it's matt-melancholic with a dash. I will start adding these to the bottom of each post I make now.
I know that these things might be what is to be expected in active fandom communities, and I am not at all trying to be ungrateful for my work being shared, but I would just like to still feel like I have some sense of overview of where and how my drawings are used, before they're scattered in the winds, and worst case, used in a way that I do not agree with. When I am properly tagged, it also allows me to further connect with fellow HOTD fans and makes it easier for other people, who might like my work, to come find and follow me. Total win-win.
Likewise, if you also just happen to stumble upon my work out in the wild, and see that I have not been properly tagged, please tag me or send me a link!
