Alright, I’ll try to put this as coherently as possible, but I’ll probably fail, so I apologise in advance. Well, I obviously think that both Liam and Zayn possess these qualities in great measure, but if I had to choose, I’d give strength to Zayn and courage to Liam. I mean, strength is often associated with having a domineering personality, with being loud and obnoxious, while gentleness is taken most of the time as a sign of weakness. Few remember that silk is actually more tear-resistant than steel, nonnie. Well, Zayn Malik is silk. He’s a gentle soul, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that gentleness is all sweet. Gentleness has poison too. Just think of how much of his heart he tore out and slapped on his sleeve, quietly waiting for Liam to see it, think of the patience and perseverance and ruthless devotion of this boy, think of how he stood at Liam’s side, loving him silently, while watching him be with someone else, think of the whole engagement fiasco and tell me that gentleness isn’t strong. As for Liam, well, Zayn called him brave and his opinion on the matter trumps everyone else’s, so… Liam is Courage. I prefer the word in its original meaning though: to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart. After all, isn’t this what Liam has been doing from the moment he finally ‘figured it out’? Every time he looks at Zayn as if he was contemplating the key to unlock all the mysteries of the universe, every time he smiles his Zayn-smile, every time he launches one of his little rebellions, he’s doing exactly that, he’s telling the story of who he is with his whole heart. So for me Zayn is strength and Liam is courage and as I already said in my tags I believe that the one is necessary to the other, because strength makes courage consistent, it reins it in and prevent it from becoming recklessness, while courage gives strength direction, it guides it and spurs it on.
