Hello everyone! We would once again like to thank everyone for participating in Marvel bingo. While rewriting the rules and procedures and setting up for round two, all of us (admins/mods) realized that we do not have the time to dedicate ourselves to an event in 2020. Running the event in 2019 was at times incredibly stressful to juggle with our IRL obligations and responsibilities, and the event took up so much of our free time that we barely got to participate ourselves. Therefore, we have decided not to run Marvel Bingo in 2020. We’re sorry for the disappointment.
If anyone would like to take over the event, we will happily hand over the reins, just DM one of us on discord or send this blog an ask. Otherwise, we will be putting Marvel Bingo on an indefinite hiatus and the discord server will be left open as an area where we can all talk about Marvel, writing, or anything else. We’ve enjoyed getting to know you all and seeing your amazing works this past year. Your enthusiasm has been amazing and greatly appreciated.

Today is the last day to post any last minute works; after that the round is over. Congratulations to everyone who had a productive 2019 and created works they’re proud of! Hopefully you all liked this first round of Marvel Bingo! :D To make the next round better, we are still accepting suggestions for prompts and rule changes on tumblr and in the discord server.
Once all of your works are posted, we’d like everyone who would like to compete to create a masterlist of their bingo works and the total points they earned for those works. For a reminder of how our point system works, check out this link: https://marvelbingo.tumblr.com/post/183800963570/scoring-and-prizes . Please post your masterlist as an image of your bingo card with the works info written underneath it. For an example of a masterlist, check under the cut!Â
Once completed, post your masterlist to tumblr and then sign onto discord and send us a link to your post in our brand new masterlist post channel! This’ll help us keep track of all of the posts and will make sure that yours is reblogged. If you don’t share with us on discord, your points won’t be counted.
Please have your masterlist completed by Jan. 21st so that we can tally everyone’s points before the next round. The winner will be announced Jan. 31st.
If you’re just doing bingo for fun and don’t want to take part in the competition portion, don’t worry about making a master.
Throughout January, we will be revising the rules and prompt list, and posting about important dates for round two, so keep an eye out for updates! Sign ups for round 2 should be open the first week of February. We’ll give you an exact date once everything is set up! :D

While creating a post about how to tally your points, we realized that the system could be simplified a lot more. So a change has been made!Â
Each square filled is 10 points.
Each bingo is worth an extra 50 points, but you do not get points for a bingo that intersects more that one other bingo. (Example: If two bingos meet at the corner, you get 100 points. If you filled 3 rows and 1 column, you only count the 3 rows of bingo and receive 150 points.)
Blackout is worth a total of 300 points. (For a blackout, you do not receive points for your individual bingos, but you do still receive points for each square. So a blackout would be 300pts in addition to 10pts for each square.) Therefore a total blackout is 250pts + 300pts = 550pts.
We also realized that our system didn’t give enough points to artists, so we we added a rule for artists too. If your fanart is a sketch, it counts as a prompt fill. If you colored in your art, you get an extra 10 points. If you added a background to your art, you get an extra 10 points for that too. This is to go along with our rules that give extra points for high word counts in fics and other works that show significant effort.
The points post has already been updated to reflect this change and we will be posting the point tallying instructions soon! Sorry to change this so late in the game, but we want to make tallying points as easy as possible for everyone, and we feel that this new system will cause less confusion.

I'm having some doubt about the finish date. The tumblr says it was over the 31st December but I could swear I read somewhere we had until the 10th January to post the fills?
Sorry for the confusion. Originally, the last day to post was December 31st, but we decided to extend it to January 10th in case anyone didn’t get to sign up until the end of December. So the last day to sign up was December 31st, but the last day to post is January 10th.
