What exactly does a real natural woman look like? Or better yet, what does the perfect woman look like? Is she the woman with curves for days, or the one who is so skinny, with hardly any breasts at all, she is said to look like a "boy". Is she the woman who falls in between, or is she the one who falls beyond either end of the spectrum? As women, we come in all shapes and sizes. Some of us are called "carrots", some of us " mangey". Some of us it is claimed, can only be looked at one frame at a time, while others simply cannot be looked at, at all. For most of us women, we can't help but love who we are, in the shape we are, take pride in how we look regardless of what others might think. Should we be judged, criticized and body shamed, because we are too fat or too thin? Is it acceptable for us to cry outrage at one's appearance without facts? Expressing concern about someone who looks gaunt or overtly obese is good. However, condemning, jeering, and shaming someone without the facts, cannot be right...can it? Can't concern be expressed without judgement or recrimination? Should we hide or hang our heads in shame because of how we look? What should our children be taught about body issues? Will it always be this way or will there ever be change? If change is to happen how can it happen? Most importantly, are we ready and willing to influence change?
