Psychology was one of the majors Leon had in mind, even before he decided to become a police officer instead.
Influenced by one of his late mother's close friend, who he always looked up at him, Leon was always fond of human emotion.
So when Claire was still worried and almost panicked, wondering where her brother could've possibly be, Leon sat quietly beside her, their shoulders touching, asking her to breathe slowly. He listened to Claire thoroughly, only responding when necessary, as he knew how to calm someone who wasn't thinking clearly.
"It's okay, Claire. Listen to me. He’s probably out there somewhere safe. I’m going to help you find him, okay? You’re not doing this alone."
Chris with his quick ramblings about how he's so done with having a bounty in his head, how he's so tired about changing his identities, never staying in one place for long, nothing about tomorrow felt certain anymore. Leon let the older guy get all his worries out, his gaze softening as he listened. Before finally pulling him in a tender hug, caressing Chris' back affectionately.
"I'm here with you, Chris. I'm never gonna leave your side. You have me. We're gonna go through this together."
Or when Grace calls Leon late at night, her voice rapid, stuttering, and breathless as all the traumas about her mother suddenly flash through her head at that moment. And she calls because she knows Leon can make her feel better, because he resembles her mother. Leon even offered to come over to Grace's place. But no, Grace felt calm enough just hearing Leon's calm, soothing voice.
"Calm yourself, Grace. Take a deep breath with me, okay? One… two… three… that’s it… now let it out."
Let time heal.
▹ Grace Ashcroft x f!coworker!reader ▹ Summary: When Grace returns from a mission she never should have been sent on, the new intern gathers the courage to approach her. ▹ First-person pov, short and sweet, fluff(???), no spoilers just mentioning her coming back from the mission ▹ Word Count: 0.4k
"Hi, Grace. Maybe you forgot about me, I'm the new visual content editor from last week. I just want to say I'm really glad you safely survived that goddamn absurd mission. Dempsey was one hell of a guy to sent you there, oh god must be horrible for you."
I finally forced myself to approach Grace as she stepped out of Dempsey's office. By now the whole building had already heard about her mission. How could they not? Grace was an intelligence analyst. She worked behind screens and reports, not in the field like top-trained agents. And yet somehow she had been the one facing those things? Killing monsters, are you kidding me?
"I didn't forget about you... and-uh thanks. I genuinely appreciate that." Grace smiled, head tilting a bit to the side.
My lips also formed a smile.
"Wishing a fast recovery for the injuries that you got."
"Oh, this? This was actually from my cat. Ugh, she couldn't wait for me to put down her food bowl and climbed up to me, dangling over my shirt—"
I could listen to her all day.
"—and this was also from my other cat, I just tried to pet him then he hissed at me and scratched me?! Unbelievable."
"Couldn't relate. I, on the other hand, have these three little angels waiting for me at home." I said while showing Grace a picture of my puppies from my phone.
I don't know if this is the right time to bring up her mission, even though I'm curious as hell. But no, not after everything she's been through. Not when the memory of it might still hurt. What if bringing it up only drags her back to everything she went through? I just want her to know I'm always here for her. Maybe we can talk about it later. For now, I'll let time do what it does best, heal the wounds she shouldn't have had to carry alone.
"Oh, aw, they're the cutest puppies I've ever seen." Grace stepped closer to me, holding my phone so she could see the picture better. Our hands touched for a moment, a rush of warmth spread through me.
"I know, right?"
Her phone buzzed. It was a call.
"So sorry-uh, but I need to take this. Really enjoyed talking to you."
Grace glanced at the screen, then walked away from me, about to answer the call.
I nodded. After a moment of hesitation, I called out to her, already a few steps away.
“Let me treat you to coffee sometime, Grace!” Then waiting for her response nervously.
She slowed, glancing back over her shoulder.
"Sure, looking forward to it."
