As the internet and fandom is evolving and marketing is trying to keep up with that, we're starting to see a very uncomfortable crossover between a fandom space which used to be kept completely separate from celebrities and brands that are looking for viral moments utilizing fandom to make celebrities and the rest of us pretty uncomfortable. And now we're starting to cross over from just celebrities that are marketing fictional television shows into brands marketing themselves with their athletes."
