as laughter filled the air her lips were drawn into a thin line, one that could almost resemble the faintest of smiles if one paid attention. a little confused she would watch him and then relax when amusement was clear in his voice.

shoulders dropped and arms were crossed behind her back and finally she gave one of her oh so often seen smiles. "you're the good guy here. why are you asking me?" he's quite funny, she notes in her mind as she watches him searching for something? only to be surprised by the offered rice crackers. eyes a little wider she blinked a few times before uta began to laugh.

"sure," she simply nodded, helping herself with a single rice cracker. some might call her careless, stupid even to accept anything from a marine when she's not on their good side. uta doesn't care though. she's not stupid. if he had any plans of capturing her he would have done it by now.

he wasn't wrong with his bets. although involuntary, shanks had adopted her. as for her real parents, how would they know when both of them were long gone? there was no one to miss and no interest in finding out more about her origin.

"i've known him for a long time." she chuckled, soft but it held a certain fondness. memories of times so long ago, and yet still so beloved. that little boy from back then, the same silly boy now the captain of his very own crew. he used to be like a brother. "we used to play together every time we came to foosha. he always wanted to compete."

ლ. A brief moment of strain was found in his smile as the marine's eyes darted to the side. Something that could have resembled irritation flickering across his face at the mention of Foosha. A curse sent out to the Red-Hair brat at the reminder of age long resentment.

     An aged habit, one Garp had no interest of breaking, but just as quickly, bitter feelings were ditched and forgotten as Uta moved along to clearer skies with ease.

" Hmph, he always lost, huh ? "   he repeated in thought, his head tilting just a minute to the side as he took a better look at Uta.

     Even if he had given a rat's ass about his 'job', it was far too early for him to pass any kind of judgment on the kid. The extent of her connection to Red-Hair was a jumbled mess of rumors and reports that he knew damn well better than to believe. And even then, the only reason he held a trace of interest in knowing about it was in order to tell just how irritated he ought to be towards Shanks about it.

     The sins of a father were never meant to be passed unto his child, but they sure as hell could reflect back onto the parent.

     More importantly than any of that though, was her connection to Luffy. And the warmth found in her tone as she recalled the past served aplenty to secure her a high position in his regards.

"Bah !  Luffy only lost to you because this must've all been before he'd gone through me, "   Garp scoffed without a trace of malice, humor and pride filling his tone as his grin widened. A challenge to her claims,   " Wouldn't have taken much to get a leg up on the brat before then. "
