seen, heard, forgotten

              a chuckle escapes him.          diamonds reflect in his aegaen hues as cherry lips are pulled into a wider smile,     a      grin.           his hands still rests upon the bump on her stomach, feeling hoping for a sign of his pea dauphin               ❛   the      audacity.           how dare he kick la reine,      it seems mon cher,     that i must      punish      our dauphin   ❜ 

            he eats in silence,     unsure     of what to do,     unsure what to say to his wife.         maybe     one     day         he could brave more than a     few     words to her,     maybe one day. for she is austrian,     perhaps     a     spy     for her empress     mother. 

yet all he could focus on was the food on his plate,     the saltness of the lamb that he savoured with every bite.     so juicy,     so tender.         he feels as if his taste buds would explode,     he can’t help but     moan.    

     while he is all  too  content  to   gorge   himself   ,   she  half-heartedly  examines her bowl of broth  &  finds that her appetite has all but left her .     her mother the dowager empress  ,  long may she reign  ,  had surely heard all about these little exchanges of theirs ;     she was likely all too familiar with how little her progeny  did  to   trouble   the  dauphin .     it is after this thought that she forces herself another attempt at conversation  :       “     are you to join the hunt today ?     perhaps i might join you today  ,  would that suit you ?     ”

    ❛     surely    they   expect   from   you   perfection   ,   though   i  doubt   you   would   struggle   with   such   lessons.       ❜        she   is   perfection   ,   the   doleful   satisfaction   of   gentle   winds   murmurs   ,   the   ancient    ink   printed   upon   maps   ,   the   scent   of          irresponsibility          &       the   harmless   sound   that   of   juniper   falling   to   the   skies.    it   is   the   way           her        eyes             catch   yours   that   hitch   your   breath   ,   the        adoration          that   drove  you   to   her   arms   ,   her   lips   that   let   you           FALL   IN   LOVE.            ❛        you   should   pride   your   nation   ,   with  such  a   dance.       ❜
