I got one that goes along with the Trollex/Techno trolls headcanons!
Basically I headcanon Techno trolls straight up have no bones, they're just like octopuses or shell-less mollusks and made up of hard cartilage
Also if the light hits them in the right way they can become semi-translucent
🌊 Do Techno Trolls Have Bones??
(Aka: Why are we doing Troll biology again?? 😭)
I read this headcanon: "I headcanon Techno Trolls don't have bones." And my first thought was: "Haha, that's cute!"
...
Five minutes later, I was questioning the existence of Trollex's skeleton. 😭
🌊 The Evidence for the Boneless Fish Theory™
In Trolls World Tour, when do we actually see Techno Trolls moving like the other tribes? Almost never. They:
✨ float ✨ drift ✨ spin ✨ swim ✨ casually levitate through the water like gravity is merely a suggestion ✨ and even when they're on land... they still seem lighter than everyone else
Their entire animation style feels... soft. Fluid. Almost squishy.
✨ Then Came the Semi-Translucent Headcanon...
You can't just say that and expect me to move on... Because imagine this: Not their entire bodies, just their tails. Think about Trollex's giant fins. Those beautiful blues and bright pinks. Now imagine that fin becoming slightly translucent whenever light shines through it.
And maybe those translucent tails aren't always visible. Maybe they only become noticeable under certain lighting. A dark rave. Bright lasers. Sunlight from above the ocean. And suddenly... their fins catch the light. That feels so Techno.
OH MY GOSH. That would be STUNNING. I don't even care if it's canon anymore. I want it.
💀 But Then Trollstopia Had to Ruin Everything
Because Synth walks. Background Techno Trolls walk. I was fully prepared to accept 'boneless fish trolls.' But then Trollstopia went: "Nope. Watch them casually stroll across the room."😭
🦴 Then My Brain Got Worse
Because okay, let's pretend they don't have bones.
... WHAT IS HOLDING UP SYNTH'S HEAD??
His proportions are basically:
🧬60% forehead 🧬30% smile 🧬10% fabulous hair
There has to be something inside this man. Otherwise, he'd fold over like a wet pool noodle...
🦈 Wait...
But like you mentioned, what if they have cartilage?
This is where I think the theory actually starts making sense. Instead of bones, what if Techno Trolls have cartilage?
If you touch the tip of your nose or bend your ear, that's cartilage! It's firm enough to keep its shape, but it's much more flexible than bone.
Sharks are actually a great real-world example. They don't have bones at all. Their skeletons are made almost entirely of cartilage.
So imagine that, but Trollified.
They'd still have an internal structure. Their heads wouldn't flop over. Their jaws would still work. They could still stand. But they'd also be much more flexible than every other tribe. And this would fit with everything we see.
🦷 The Teeth
Because yes... They definitely have teeth. So if cartilage is acting as their 'skeleton,' their teeth could simply be anchored into a cartilage jaw instead of a bony one. Problem solved. (My brain can finally rest.)
🌊 Why They Move So Differently
The more I think about it, the more I love the idea that Techno Trolls simply aren't built like Pop Trolls. Pop Trolls bounce, Country Trolls stomp, Rock Trolls throw themselves around, and Techno Trolls... flow.
Even their dances feel smooth. Almost like they're constantly moving through water even when they're standing on land.
🌊 Conclusion
So... Do I think Techno Trolls are completely boneless?
Probably not. Mostly because I would like Trollex's head to remain attached to his body.
BUT...
I do think Techno Trolls have
mostly cartilage throughout the body, making them flexible
but certain areas, like the neck, jaw, and hips, have denser, harder cartilage or even small bones to support their weight on land
My new favorite headcanon is: They're probably impossible to wrestle because they'd just... schloop... right out of your grip 😭
Now, DreamWorks... I only have one question left. What does Trollex look like on an X-ray? Because until you answer that... I'm going to keep believing this fish king is approximately 80% cartilage, 15% bone, and 5% pure vibes. 💙🌊
