yayyyy!!! the phm book is so so good!!! i actually just finished my reading goal for the year (26 books for 2026) so to celebrate i'm listening to the audiobook and god i love this book sm!!
really funny that you hated your book club book, lmaoooo. i similarly read a FIVE book series called Leighton U that i simultaneously hated and enjoyed that my college roommate recommended to me. the writing was absolutely painful and SO so repetitive, but it was fun to hate and the books are trashy gay smut so they were fun in that way too.
i've actually never read the little prince, but that sounds fun! i've permanently moved back to my childhood bedroom and have been thinking abt rereading some of my childhood faves, too. i'm giving my room a total makeover and had to pack away my books, but made sure to keep out some of those childhood faves to reread someday.
i ALSO have been listening to sherlock & co!! i love it sm!! never heard of ghost inspectors but i've been looking for smth more supernatural, so i'll def check it out!! i've been mostly reading lately, but as i've slowly been working on my room, i'll sometimes listen to dimension 20: fantasy high instead of music. idk if dnd live plays are your thing, but i'm on s2 and it's really really good.
as for recs, i just finished reading one of the greatest books i've ever read. it's a chinese webnovel called married thrice to salted fish and it has an official translation of 4 volumes total, 3 of which have come out. (4th one comes out in october, i do not recommend the fan translation so i def would read the official one from seven seas danmei. idk if you read digital books, but if you need help aquiring them i can help π) it's sooo good, it's set in a fictional ancient china, the main character is a doctor and master of poisons, it has a ton of crazy political maneuvering, the love interest is a transmigrator, and the romance is absolutely fantastic and so sweet (and has spectacular angst). it's also the first transmigration story i've ever read that's not in the perspective of the transmigrator. highly recommend it!! before that was leighton u and i do not recommend it lmaoo, but i also read the raven cycle a while ago and LOVED it, as well as reread one of my favorite books from last year called the disabled tyrant's beloved pet fish. it's also a transmigration story set in a fictional ancient china, but it's a fantasy comedy and it's so so silly and v fun! it also has political maneuvering but the main character is a fish half the time, so the maneuvering involves a lot of hijinks. fair warning though bc it caught me by surprise when i first read it, there is mpreg towards the end, but i hate mpreg and still love this book, so. it's also officially translated by seven seas danmei and all 4 volumes are out.
HI TEA! SORRY I MISSED THIS!
Yessss the audiobook!! I have only heard snippets but it's amazing.
Hey trashy and fun is definitely a concept I agree with. However my book club book was trashy but not fun. It was fun till chapter one, but then it was downhill from there ;-;
DIMENSION 20 BRENNAN LEE MULLIGAN???? I have only seen yt snippets and have not heard the podcast ;-; I thought it came with a subscription or something.
Danmei novels give me flashbacks I'm not even kidding. I had a whole phase where I was a "oh it's only a 1000 more pages, I can finish that in an hour".....I don't know what happened to that person. Honestly my danmei days are over after a very horrific transmigration story that I want to wipe from my memory.
Also if you're into danmei, you should check out Heaven Official's Blessing! There's a fair bit of trauma but I remember I was obsessed with it at one point. They also have a donghua out (but they de-muscled (is that a word?) my beloved, made me sad):
