i think the thing that is just really fascinating to me about the sisters grimm epilogues is the interplay between sabrina and puck about what a person deserves from someone else. like puck decides to grow old for sabrina and ofc she is under no obligation to wait for him forever and to commit herself to him only, bc people grow up and they change and they meet new people after they’ve changed and that’s exactly what bradley is. he’s a product of sabrina growing up and changing. and puck has no right to question why she grew up or changed bc it was inevitable and he left and he adventured and discovered the world and how could he have expected her to wait? but at the same time, i do think it’s hard to imagine what it feels like to spend your whole life, four hundred years, in this stasis of not needing anyone or anything and having no greater purpose or desire to confront the world and its real life problems, and when you finally come across someone who inspires in you a desire to move forward, they move on without you. and puck can’t go back. he can grow old, but he can’t grow young. he’s an adult now, forever, and he’s stuck in this new limbo of having to deal with all of these adult responsibilities like doing something meaningful with his life and reconnecting with his family and ruling faerie and at one point he wasn’t so opposed to these premises bc he thought sabrina would be there to do it alongside him. except that now, she isn’t. so he sort of has to become and be an adult on his own and choosing her is the one thing that should have been so easy but instead it’s still something he finds himself having to fight for. and yeah, love is something you should fight for, but also, when you’re an everafter, and you’ve lived for four hundred years, sometimes, you don’t want to fight. you want to have one easy battle. you want all of the cards to fall in place when you make that one important decision. you want the battle to be over quick. but this battle isn’t easy. it’s awful and it’s long and it’s tiring. and the two of them know they have no right to chastise the other about life choices, so for five years prior to that wedding, they struggle through those choices alone. heartbroken, lonely, yearning. and it all could have fallen apart, just like that
